So funny! I looked up how to get wrinkles out of a rug, came across your video and come to find that you have the EXACT SAME RUG as the one I am trying to get wrinkles out of! Thank you! Love your channel
I bet this tip works even better (and is probably safer) if you iron the rug from the back. It's really that backer which is wrinkled versus the fibers. Definitely use the wet towel method to avoid melting any plastic .
I was skeptical at first but OMG I have a huge area rug that got a huge buckle in it from moving a heavy piece of furniture around on it. This trick you suggested worked like a charm. I love it. Thank you for saving my rug. ☺☺
It took my flatmate to get a broken toe on the wrinkly carpet for us to search this tutorial.. all I can say is WOW! We have the most wrinkle free carpet on the block now
OMG! I can't thank you enough for this great tip. I just received a new area rug and it was horribly wrinkled. I got so upset when I first saw it, but then I came across your video and God I was so happy that it worked! thank you again
Thank you! I bought a rug today and it's so wrinkly. I'll let it sit a few days and then do this process. I really appreciate you taking the time to make a diy to help!
I just bought a new rug, had the wrinkles/waves going through the middle and couldn't place heavy objects there to help flatten them. Was looking around the net to find something that might help speed up the process to get the rug to flatten out and this worked great! Not 100% but a LOT better than it was before. Thanks.
Our 14x20 carpet was fine but the thick felt non-slip pad had some bad wrinkles that lifted the carpet about 2” in places. We pulled back the rug and went to work on it, steam ironing the whole pad itself. This technique worked perfectly and our beautiful new rug lays flat as can be. Thank you for sharing this tip.
I FOOLISHLY put my rug down with the wrinkles THREE YEARS AGO!! But, the wrinkles never came out. Instead, they had babies!! Well, that's my take on it. I watch this and another one. I flipped it over bit by bit used my mop steamer machine and YEAH!! I am so very very pleased!! I did not want to throw out the carpet, I really love it. Plus it was expensive. I still have other parts of it to do, but I started at the worst part, and WOW!!! It's FLAT!! TY TY TY TY TY!!! I am so relieved!! I have a cleaner coming, after it's cleaned I can without embarrassment have company OVER!! OH WOW!! SO HAPPY!!!
So in searching for a way to get out wrinkles of my new rug, my first click is your video and it turns out I bought the same rug as you! How serendipitous!! Thank you so much.
I thank you! I have a big thicker area rug and I was going to sell it after trying to fix the problem. Ironing it totally worked! Thank you so much for sharing your experience!! ❤️
I washed a wool rug with a synthetic backing and the dried it over a table which creating horrible wrinkles. Thought we might have to throw it out but this trick worked. I did it the backside first and then the front - good as new. Thanks.
Thank you! I got a rug from wayfair and it was so bad, the weight did nothing after a week! Original was very thin, I sent it back. 2nd different style slightly thicker was worse!!! This video was first I found and I can affirm it works! Need patience. There was 1 wrinkle from a tight creased fold at the end of packaging that was so bad, i was worried it would never come out but alas the iron over a thin wet towel works! Thanks so much!!!
Thanks for being straight up and honest about the technique, and having a prerequisite that it may not work and all types of rugs. (Kind of negates the Internet nerds looking to complain🤣) ✌️😎
Thank you so much from the bottom of my heart I have wrinkles in my rugs and I've been trying for a year now to figure out how to get them out I've tried to steam clean them out even. And that didn't work now I know how to get them out. Sincerely April
I am so going to try this in the next couple of days. I just got a rug and it was twice as wrinkly as yours and I was beside myself not knowing what to do. Thanks for posting this vid. Really hoping this works!
Thank you so much! I think I got the same rug you got from Amazon, just in burgundy. I’ve had it for about a week and still has lots of wrinkles. I’m going to try this technique. 😊
Thank you!!! I just got the same rug from unique loom but in burgandy... So i came here looking for a solution to the wrinkles &/or folds. I'm going to try my steam mop on it, fingers crossed!
THANK YOU! I bought a pretty, inexpensive, very thin area rug last year. I’ve been waiting for the wrinkles from the inner ROLL to disappear. Ha! I am going to try your method this week!!!
I DID IT! Five months later, but I did it. I tried using a bath towel, but it was hard to manage. Next, I used a kitchen dish towel which was so much easier to handle. Finally. The wrinkles are gone.
Brilliant, just received a rug I ordered that was shipped rolled. Currently have heavy tiles on them but will definitely give this a try as well!! Thanks
Thanks a lot.We just changed the entire carpet in our house to a nicer & fluffier carpet. But unfortunately the rugs we used before on the older thinner carpet does not sit nicely on the newer one.The rugs keep wrinkling & moving around all over.Any solutions for this?
I just got a rug from wayfair and they had it on the tiniest roll so you can imagine how many ripple rolls are in my rug. Its horrible. I will be trying this today, thank you*
Bought my rug from the same place and it just arrived today. You're right, it was rolled up in a plastic wrap and when I opened it, it was really wrinkled. Thanks sooo much for your video, it really really helped.
If I had seen this before I gave away the area rug I used to have, that had a big wrinkle I could have fixed it. Instead, I found a new area rug that's a lovely, rich golden yellow that I love far better. However, the runner I have over the most traveled section has become wrinkled and dangerous, I will try this method, but I'm going to try ironing from the other side as the pile is thick. I'm thinking that ironing from the other side, with a wet towel, might be less time-consuming. Another Idea if the rug is on a hardwood, ceramic, linoleum floor, is to use rug tape or one of those sticky rug pads, especially with a thin rug. Thanks for the video, hope everyone can fix their rug wrinkles.
I was googling how to get curls out of the edges of my rug and came across your video. Will this work for edges that are bending upward that everyone keeps tripping over? Thanks for this video also my rug is over carpet so not sure if that is why it’s happening. Any advice would be great
I bought an inexpensive runner for my laundry room that is quite wrinkled. It's thin and has a rubberized backing. Do you think the steam would damage the backing?
Thanks! Gonna try iron method. Bought a beautiful classic Oriental rug for a mere $20 at my local Habitat For Humanity Store. Local Ollie's Bargain Outlet has similar rugs STARTING at $80!!! Anyway one corner has an annoying ripple enough it could cause a person to trip. I placed the corner in a no traffic zone so far.. Weights didnt work. I have a vintage mid-century mod 3-panel glass top cocktail table over it ($2.50!!!, Habitat 75% off tag buy! Brag! lol)
Thank you for your video, my bedroom rug ( which my landlord had installed is a office / commercial type rug ). It's not an area rug but after a few accidental water spills has created a buckle / ripple. It definitely is an eye sore and to make matters worse I'm occasionally tripping over it. I can't remember the last time I ironed so I don't own an iron. Any suggestions ? Thanks in advance 🤞
I have a very thick shag rug with a huge wrinkle that won’t come out. I was going to flip it over and steam iron the back of the rug with a wet towel. Will that work as well?
My rug had a raised wrinkle type thing going on cause my water leaked out into it. Would it work if I iron directly on the bottom side? If not I’ll do the wet towel method
Was trying to figure out how to figure out how to iron one of the rugs that we had in storage for a few months without melting it. Thanks! Also - love the computer science books! 😆
I almost bought this rug! And thanks for the tip…it worked like a charm! ☺️ do you happen to remember where you got the other rug in your video, with the big leaves? It’s really pretty too.
So funny! I looked up how to get wrinkles out of a rug, came across your video and come to find that you have the EXACT SAME RUG as the one I am trying to get wrinkles out of! Thank you! Love your channel
I too was looking for solutions to wrinkles and have this same exact rug! I wonder how long this will last.
LittleBanditAnimations i have the same rug also & it buckles😡 Thanks for this!
God damn. Bunch of us got the same damn rug 😂
Same here. Exact rug!
😆 same rug here, too! (Wife's rug)
video starts at 1:48, welcome 😊
Haris Ali she really didn’t talk that long🤦🏻♀️ if y’all can’t listen to her explain for 1 minute.. there’s problems
Haris Ali I thought it was just me...
Thank you! Seriously thank you, and I am a talker😂 maybe I only like to hear myself talk.🤦🙊
The hero I needed
Thank you

Great idea! I am a home sewer, and should have thought of that. This type of technique is used on velvet, so naturally it works here.

Was looking around the net to find something that might help speed up the process to get the rug to flatten out and this worked great! Not 100% but a LOT better than it was before. Thanks.
Flip the rug over and iron the back. It's the backing that has the creases and you wont risk damaging the surface.
The back has a rubber backing and will melt when ironing
@@mariannegotze1450 Try a steamer instead of an iron. Still do the wet towel trick for safety but it works like a charm and a think leaves less damage
Awesome tip! You're the best for that one
This video was really helpful! Just rolled out a 12×15 area rug that was super wrinkled. This fixed it. THANK YOU!

Thanks. I was ready to return an area rug, but then I watched your video, and wow, my rug is great now.
What a coincidence, Bought the same rug from same company and searched for flattening techniques and saw this, thanks!
Thanks so much for this video! I was annoyed that my rug had a ton of wrinkles and I TOO got my rug from amazon! You're the best! Easy, FREE fix!
I was taught to put ice cubes on the wrinkles for a few days. Which really does work, but this technique is must faster. Thanks 😊.
I washed a wool rug with a synthetic backing and the dried it over a table which creating horrible wrinkles. Thought we might have to throw it out but this trick worked. I did it the backside first and then the front - good as new. Thanks.
Thank You So Very Much For Sharing☺What You've Done With Your Rug Is Pretty Much What I Had In Mind To Do "Great Job"🙌
Great idea, i was going to use my steam cleaner and go to town but i like this idea much better. Thanks for the upload!

Thank you so much! I've never had to do this before and your tutorial helped make my area rug look much better!
Thank you so much from the bottom of my heart I have wrinkles in my rugs and I've been trying for a year now to figure out how to get them out I've tried to steam clean them out even. And that didn't work now I know how to get them out. Sincerely April
Excellent tutorial has helped me a lot to release the wrinkles from my rug
Thanks so much. I will try this on my new rug tonight and let you know if it worked!!!!
I am so going to try this in the next couple of days. I just got a rug and it was twice as wrinkly as yours and I was beside myself not knowing what to do. Thanks for posting this vid. Really hoping this works!
Thanks for the video! I'm a household helper and my client has a terrible wrinkle in a large area rug. I'm trying this today!
Thank you. This ironing technique worked on my area rug to flatten those stubborn wrinkles!
Thank you so much! I think I got the same rug you got from Amazon, just in burgundy. I’ve had it for about a week and still has lots of wrinkles. I’m going to try this technique. 😊
Thanks for the video tip. Worked pretty well for me on a very thick area rug. Wrinkle not completely flat, but is now no longer a trip hazard.
WHat do you mean by trip hazard? LMAO
This is great info. I got a rug a few months ago from a thrift store. It has some wrinkles and trying to figure out how to get the stain out.
I just got the exact same ruh off Amazon. Mine came creased and wrinkled too. Your video helped!!
I’m a huge fan of your towel! Where did you get that beautiful thing? Also, thank you for the tips I’m running off to do it now
Thank you!!! I just got the same rug from unique loom but in burgandy... So i came here looking for a solution to the wrinkles &/or folds. I'm going to try my steam mop on it, fingers crossed!

Love the towel you used! Going to try this with my rug next week! Wish me luck!
Best advice /video for this solution , on RUclips. Thanks!
Brilliant, just received a rug I ordered that was shipped rolled. Currently have heavy tiles on them but will definitely give this a try as well!! Thanks
This method was great! I was able to remove the ripples from my new area rug by following your directions! Thanks so much!
Oh my! I got the same rug and your video is what I’m looking for. Going to do this soon. Can’t stand the big wrinkle on my rug.
I literally have the same rug, and ordered it with the same problem. Haha! Thanks for the tip!
I’d suggest using a white towel also, to minimize risk of color transfer. Great video.
Thanks a lot.We just changed the entire carpet in our house to a nicer & fluffier carpet. But unfortunately the rugs we used before on the older thinner carpet does not sit nicely on the newer one.The rugs keep wrinkling & moving around all over.Any solutions for this?

Thank you so much, we are entertaining tomorrow and you saved me such an embarrassment. First time watcher, now you have a new follower :)
fabric steamer works too

What type of fabric is the towel you use. Is it cotton terry or what, please advise.
I bought an inexpensive runner for my laundry room that is quite wrinkled. It's thin and has a rubberized backing. Do you think the steam would damage the backing?

I have that same rug too! With the same problem. It's a gorgeous rug!
Short, sweet and perfectly helpful!!!! Get into that!
Brilliant!!! This is exactly the help I was looking for. 👍🏾
It worked, thank you for the easy tip, took care of my new rug ripples fast!😊
This worked awesome for my robot vacuum kept getting stuck on wrinkles. Thank you gorgeous.
Thank you for the video. Very well made. Going to try on my two nasty rugs this week and reply back with some love again if it works!
Smart girl! I had the same problem. Thanks for the tip.
Awesome towel! I'm going to try this in a bit, thanks for sharing!
Omg thank you I got the exact same rug and had the same issue . Will try it for sure
Thank you! I was wondering wth to do. I’ll try it. What cute little doggies!
Thank you for your video, my bedroom rug ( which my landlord had installed is a office / commercial type rug ). Thank you, thank you, I will be using this method to get rid of the wrinkles out of my new rug
I love how beautiful it goes with your brown couch! What color did you get?
Oh. Em. Geeeee!!! THANK YOU so much for sharing!!! This is going to be a game changer for me!
Thanks for the tip!! I’m definitely trying it out.
@theDIYcottage how did this hold up over time? Did the lumps come back or did it stay flat?
How did you prevent water getting on the hardwood floor
How often do you have to iron out the wrinkles? Like monthly or is this a one time fix
Thank you for sharing This i used my dumbbells and pieces of cardboard it got some of them out but this is much better 👍
I have a very thick shag rug with a huge wrinkle that won’t come out. I was going to flip it over and steam iron the back of the rug with a wet towel. Will that work as well?
Awesome! This works wonders, just tried it on a 2nd hand rug I purchased. BTW, your hair looks amazing!
This worked so well! Thank you!
My rug had a raised wrinkle type thing going on cause my water leaked out into it. Would it work if I iron directly on the bottom side? If not I’ll do the wet towel method
My ugly wrinkle is due to occasional water spills also. Balancing the ice cube tray into the mini fridges freezer was always a stress test 😥
great job! how do you get out rolled up corners tho???????????/anybody
Iron from behind I just did it and it came out perfect ;)
From behind? Do you mean turn the rug over? I have wrinkles I need to get out
Man, this looks like a great idea. I’m going to give it a try! Thanks for sharing😊
This is the solution I was looking for! Thanks for posting this!
This also works on carpet that a wax candle has spilled over. The wet cloth and iron works perfect.
What a genius idea!🙌
Was trying to figure out how to figure out how to iron one of the rugs that we had in storage for a few months without melting it. Thanks! Also - love the computer science books! 😆
I really like your towel too!
Thanks for the tip! 👍🏻
i'll do it on my dining room area rug. Thanks for the tip
will this work for carpet? thanks!
I almost bought this rug! And thanks for the tip…it worked like a charm! ☺️ do you happen to remember where you got the other rug in your video, with the big leaves? It’s really pretty too.
You're a genius!
Short sweet and to the point 👍
Did you try to tape down the rug on 4 corners to stretch out. If not try that also, it worked for my rug
Pretty! What color is this? Light blue?
Love the vintage rug!!
Thank you. Just bought a new carpet and I didn’t think of this.
This was the only thing that helped - thank you!
I’m going to try. Will let you know 😊
Did you do that on the floor without a pad underneath it???
Your Doxie is so cute!!!!
