I had my jeans repaired like that by a family friend years ago, I remember talking about it with Americans and they didn't understand why would anyone repair a pair of jeans... Well, it was in a time I was making the equivalent of 85 cents per hour and here the jeans would cost me what I made in a week. I still have them. It's awesome that people still do this.
I always repair my jeans because it's not easy finding the right style that I like anymore. Even as a teenager I prepare my own jeans because it was cheaper then buying a new pair. Back then I would use crazy patterns the patch of my jeans kind of making my own style kind of like getting a new pair of pants. Best part was the material I would use was my younger brother's p.j. pants that he outgrew so I was recycling his pants to make my new pants 😊

Beautiful job! This is the first tutorial I've seen that doesn't use darning. I couldn't use that method since the hole is too big and wide. And I have another pair I can use to patch the hole on my favourite jeans! Thank you Warning: this takes FOREVER. You have to do really tiny stitches so that it's secure. I think it took me 4 hours on just one patch, but I'm also really slow at needlework. If you have a patch with the right colour and the right colour thread, it literally blends in seamlessly, so the time is so worth it
I've looked through your channel and you have very helpful videos. One recommendation I can give is "how to fix hole or rip in knitted sweater" because that's a difficult repair that most people don't know how to do
Some of the stitching could be done on the sewing machine. But the hand stitching does make blending and edges that neighbor the double thick seam, look better. I love learning new methods. Ty
Yes that was my problem also, I spent a lot of time trying doing this, then the fashion police, my daughter, disapproved of it, because it was not the exact same colour.
This was _exactly_ what I was looking for!! I could imagine in my mind what I thought my battered jeans beaded, but your video brought that idea to life! Now I know what I need to do, plus you did additional things (cutting the excess interior fabric and adding the interfacing) which I hadn't even considered. I can't wait to try this!! I'm so glad this came across my feed again. I was amazed when I watched this video months ago and thought that I had saved it to refer back to it, but I guess I did not. Thank you for sharing your knowledge will us. It is much appreciated.
That was extremely well executed! I could have kept on wearing litterally 100 pair of good jeans over the years. Wish I could do it so well. Oh well, I guess there's no harm in trying next time, and again and again, until it resembles your very nice work, indeed. Thanks for sharing!!! Kind regards.
I'll just throw in that most dry cleaners also have a repair service, so even if you can't do this yourself it's still cheaper than a new pair of jeans.
I must say that that was very neatly done! I on the other hand just place the patch fabric under the worn out bit and then drive a massive amount of thread all over the area using my sewing machine. Kind of like a hippie.

@dove3853 jesus wouldn't also try and force religion onto someone else, no one died on a cross for anyone or atleast in mine or your families life time and the worst of all giving credit to someone who didn't do jack shit for you or me, read an article the other day of a young couple who built themselves a home just by themselves with no outside help and the last comment they made' "we thank God for giving us this house". Its sad but the the good thing is, Christianity is on the verge of collapse die to more and more people waking up to the bs the bible says. Somethings may of happened yes, the great flood, but we also know about tsunamis. The sea splitting in half for moses, we also know about tides going in and out and that many places/beaches split into 2 when the tides out, falling angels 🤣🤣 we also know about meteor showers, comets, asteroids and space debris. Why is there also parts of the bible that has been banned and removed that go further into detail about events that happen in the bible but with a more mundane explanations. The story about noah and the ark is a lie, the closest you could make me believe is that the flood was to wipe out giants that were hybrids, half human and half angel. And 'god' used the flood to destroy the abominations which is also explained in a banned/removed part of the bible. You could put the whole of the avengers movies and storylines into 1 book and you would tell me its not fiction but yet swear blind the bible is the truth with no direct proof but just pure faith

@@ShibaMomma143 I buy two pair at a time. When one fails, I use the bad one to repair the old one. This works to an extent. But the glue can be an issue so I line the inside with thin* cotton fabric and that seems to work well. I buy jeans every 5 years or so. But the only pair that has lasted me decades was from the 90's with very thick jean fabric. I wish they made that quality affordable now.
Excellent video. I've had this problem my whole life. My mum tried repairing my jeans when I was younger but she would use rough patches and rough stitching and it either didn't look good or would chafe my legs or cut into my underwear so I ended up throwing a lot of otherwise perfectly good jeans away😒 I will get my wife to try this technique or maybe, just maybe I might take up sewing and give it a crack myself. I have been sewing and mending for years. I appreciate the way you have presented this mending technique. However, I have concerns with the way you trim the underside/inside of the jeans. Denim is a frayable material. You trimmed right next to your stitching without leaving a seam width, and you did not "seal" the edges of the denim with fray check or some other product designed to keep the fabric underneath from fraying out your new seam. So I believe to make your mending technique a lasting solution, then you need to leave a seam width and you also need to seal that seam somehow to prevent it from fraying out, causing another hole. Thank you.
This is a good point of view, but the jeans must be emptied from the inside so that it is not thick and annoying when used. I also put this sticky cloth to keep it for as long as possible, and this method I have used for years, and my customers are very satisfied with us, but I would appreciate your advice

That was extremely well executed! I could have kept on wearing litterally 100 pair of good jeans over the years. Wish I could do it so well. Oh well, I guess there's no harm in trying next time, and again and again, until it resembles your very nice work, indeed.

100 pairs? How many pairs of jeans do you destroy each year?

Excellent video. I've had this problem my whole life. My mum tried repairing my jeans when I was younger but she would use rough patches and rough stitching and it either didn't look good or would chafe my legs or cut into my underwear so I ended up throwing a lot of otherwise perfectly good jeans away😒
I will get my wife to try this technique or maybe, just maybe I might take up sewing and give it a crack myself. For anyone out there that says they can't sew (I can) it is possible to stick patches on with contact/impact adhesive. Been using it in industry for years and patching clothes for as long. It is certainly quick in an emergency and they don't come off in the washing.

@@Kolobud

Thank you! I've always appreciated it when I can learn craftsmanship from someone! Although I am an electrical engineer, I am more proud of my "master's degree in electronic technician", which I obtained based on the judgment of highly knowledgeable senior masters.
wish you the best 🌹 🌹💖

My parents know this stuff but never taught me. I remember when I was growing up, whenever my jeans got holes in them my mom would patch it over. If I got new jeans and they were too long, my dad would take it to work to tailor them. These are incredibly useful skills.
@@UhideNcryWhileIseek Wow, what insight! A music teacher doesn't have to teach you music, you just never chose to learn from them! Nobody has to teach you how to fly to the moon, you just never chose to learn how from a rocket scientist!
Bro, do everyone a favor and keep your dumbass comments to yourself. I said these were useful skills, I didn't say they were essential skills. I don't absolutely _need_ them in my life because there are other means to get it done or work around them so I didn't learn them. It goes without saying I could have learned them if I really wanted to, like literally everything else that can be learned.
Love watching your techniques for repairing pants. My grandson his work pants repaired rather than buy a new pair. I have spent hours trying to find a source for the adhesive cloth without any luck. Do you have a specific store or online source to buy. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you for your videos. Love them.
Unfortunately I don't have a way to buy it online but it's called Vaseline it's an adhesive or thermal fabric or filler used to line men's suits or shirt collars when making them. The names vary by country. You can buy it at stores that sell sewing supplies. It's always available in these places. You can have the seller view the adhesive on your mobile phone / Best wishes for success :) 🌹🌹💖
@@elhrfy thank you for your swift reply
@@kateryncarrasco5221, I think she means "Stitchwitchery". It's a clear sticky fabric that is ironed on the inside of pants and patch to stop the seams from fraying.

Tenho 21 calças todas assim... e praticamente novas
Thank you!! I thought I was the only one who wore holes into the jeans that way!!
I have worn jeans for nearly 70 years and never once have had holes like these. My holes are always in the knees, pockets and stitching on the pockets. I am curious what people are doing to cause this kind of fabric tear?
Meant also to say these repairs are really excellent!
@@lawrencethompson465 bad quality jeans actually
@@lawrencethompson465gaining weight. Simple as that. Thighs grow larger and rub together causing the holes. Happens to me most winters because I refuse to size up even though I partake in all the seasonal indulgences.
@@asyetundetermined it happens to me even though I wear baggy jeans and am pretty fit. Some people just have shapes of body that they have thighs that touch and lightly rub when walking. Esp women. If I wear 3x a week for 3 or so years my jeans get worn there no matter how lose they were.
Unfortunately I am bad with my hands and a tailor is pricy so I don't know if I can manage repairs on my own. I usually just wear tights underneath or get hand me down jeans from someone else (why all my jeans are baggy)
