There’s billions and billions of 4-8 inch straws. This “hack” will happen a few hundred, maybe a few thousand times, each time using about a half inch of each straw. You finish the math…
Uh, no. The "repair" does not anchor the opposing half to prevent separation. However, an alternative title, "Caressing plastic straws to piano" would certainly fit 😇.
@@tess7798 Well, this isn‘t exactly a “fix” if the repair still allows the separation failure that existed before… so, let’s not worry about “feelings” here and let’s critique the results of the claim.
It does provide a decent anchor on with you could melt more plastic to make a tooth, but the most critical part is making sure the thing stays attached. Wax might help in the short run but eventually it will crumble, I think.
OH! After you demonstrated the zipper working perfectly well with no adjustment, I felt certain you were going to take that straw and simply enjoy a nice cold beverage. The wistful piano music had me thinking comedy the whole way!
That's never happened to me but I have had one or two of the zipper "teeth" fall out and having the zipper replaced was more expensive than buy a new garment.
Unfortunately it won't work. The end of a zipper is profiled to hold in the bottom part of the zip, since this is flat it will make it a bit easier to close the zip but it'll just slide out constantly meaning the zip will constantly come apart at the bottom.
Inserting a short piece of toothpick inside the straw would act as an anchor in the metal receiver at the bottom of the zipper so it doesn't slide out unexpectedly.
To me....that looked like the little straw you get stuck on a juicebox. (sharp tapered end). Great tip. Thanks. I wonder: Given sufficient time, could you fashion an end using just the hot glue (if you treated the receiver with silicone to prevent adhesion while modelling). I may give it a go on a damaged garment or gym bag.
Okay if you have a straw & heating tool. Yet you could just buy the repair parts for the zipper. They do sell them. Little clamp you squeeze on with whatever type of pliers you have. I'v even used scissors when I couldn't find my needle nose.
I'd stick a piece of a larger-size paperclip wire into the fold to create a more palpable engagement spur for the zipper, first making the piece of straw a bit more shallow. And....dare I say it? Don't be afraid of bringing a pair of needle nose pliers to the party.
Buena idea pero eso no evitará que se salga de la base, pues al quedar delgado, se volverá a salir, en los cierres, la parte que entra en la base, es más gruesa y con eso evitas que se salga
There is a cut in this video , she does something in the corner of the patch , but she does not show it in the video ... at min 2:37 the corner of the patch is clear in 2:38 there is a black spot in the corner, I assume it is so the patch stays hooked into the metal clasp ... without it the patch would not have any hold in it
There it is, I knew someone else would've noticed that! 😏 I'm seeing the same too, it is indeed an extra bit of dark plastic or metal added in during the cut!
Excellent idea! Those small plastic straws always get thrown out. They come with small drink packs. So good to upcycle and reuse. 😊
No more Plastikstraws here in OZ since 2022!! But hey there are plenty of other produkts one can cut to size.. good hack....❤
Too bad... Plastic straws were banned in the Communist Nation of Kalifornia!

@@carpballetGood luck finding a plastic straw in Europe.
They're banned here.
Good tip…now go find a ‘plastic’ straw.🙄 (uk)
Black market 😂
Plastic is the only kind that work. If you're stuck with those crappy paper "straws", I feel sorry for you
What’s a straw. ? Canada

Thank you for your ideas 💡 very useful and we can use our clothes more and more ❤

What a fantastic burn!
Somebody goes to all the time in trouble to make a video, only for you to watch it and be snarky. Is it your intention to be rude?

@@LoopyChew I think the melted part was a glue stick perhaps?
Short, sweet, quick & informative…just subscribed.
I tried it on my jacket and it worked, after several trials. Thanks for this great ideas.
Great to hear! thank you for your feedback!
Guter Tipp 🎉🎉🎉Schade dass Strohhalme nicht mehr so einfach zu bekommen sind. Also die aus Plastik.

all these years and the answer has been right there💥🌹🌹💋💯

Great sent it to a friend, seamstress. Thank you.
Great video. Short, to the point, and effective. Thank you very much. I won't be throwing away jackets anymore when the zipper fails.
That's never happened to me but I have had one or two of the zipper "teeth" fall out and having the zipper replaced was more expensive than buy a new garment.
It is a very simple and ingenious solution
Unfortunately it won't work. The end of a zipper is profiled to hold in the bottom part of the zip, since this is flat it will make it a bit easier to close the zip but it'll just slide out constantly meaning the zip will constantly come apart at the bottom.
Unless there is a ridge on the repaired piece, the zipper will still pull out and open from the bottom
Yeah, it looks like it's starting to do it already, it's wider at the bottom when shut.
@@SCorpG22 When you melt the plastic, be creative and put a ridge at end of zipper.
Saw that too... notice how hard she pulls to separate the zipper prior to the repair, but then how delicate she tugs after the repair.
Excellent tip - Thanks for sharing 👍👍👍🙏🙏🙏❤❤❤
I’ve never had a zipper break like that before. Yipes, did I just jinx myself. Well at least I have a hack to fix it 😅
Great video. I can use that. But what kind of burn ointment do you use? That hot plastic hurts.
Mir kann keiner erzählen, dass diese Reparatur lange hält!

Nice hands, seems like other video about repair holes on clothes...❤❤❤😊 and nice relaxing music too....
You are so caring
Will this work with a paper straw? -- asking from California
… or the EU.
Paper ones made in US - yes. Paper ones made in China - no.
We could ship you some from Texas.
excellent merci.
That works nice thankyou
I never thought of this!
Will this actually last through the washing machine and dryer??
Hand wash.
Top, excelente dica!
Very clever and useful. Thank you.
Glad it was helpful!
Great! But what was that thing that was held to the flame? Glue? If so, would ordinary glue from a tube suffice?
Excelente la idea, gracias 🙏🔥
Thanks so much for this!!
Any time!

Thank you for an alternative to the throwaway culture.
Good tip ! 👕
Excellent ! Now, about the rest of my problems.... (I think we might need a bigger straw 🤔)
would it work with a paper straw, too?
Buen "truco" Lo malo es que en Colombia no funcionaria siendo que ya no venden en lado alguno "pitillos" (popotes, sorbetes...)
Well done 👏 👏
It would help if we were told what the 'stick' of something was which is melted to 'glue' the piece of plastic straw to the zipper.
Glue gun stick
WONDERFUL THANKS FOR SHARE ❤❤❤
Thank you! Cheers!
Good idea, but how long does it last after a fews washes
Cool, I'll try it.
How long will that hold up for?
Until you throw it in the dryer and get hot glue all over your other clothes.
@ No Kidding👍👍
I tune my own skis. That is a P-Tex candle. I have plenty of those around. The next zipper broken in this manner? EZ fix! Thank you,
That's a hot glue stick dude
What was the stuff that was melted? Wax, plastic or glue ?
thank you!
Das geht auch mit Tesafilm
..Tape 😊sehr gut 👍
Does if fall off when heated in the dryer?

Awesome!!! Thank you.

Good tip but unfortunately we are not allowed plastic straws here in the UK, apparently we can't be trusted with them.
Do they still have plastic straws in uk on the small cartons that kids drink.Or have they gone too
Thank's for sharing
Thanks* (plural of "thank", no apostrophe)
Das ist nur die halbe Wahrheit, denn es muss am Ende eine kleine Wulst geben, damit der Reißverschluss nicht wieder aus der Führung rutscht.

How do you stick the plastic straw? Is that a candle?

This is the real reason McDonalds started using paper straws.
How long does it gonna stay there?

That is only for emergency. When you wash it, the heat from the dryer will melt wax. Try using a zipper repair kit or using nylon thread

does this resist to the washing machine ?
¿Y aguanta la lavadora? Eso es lo que me sorprende más....
