I was in my 20s in the '80s loved a lot of hair bands of the era especially Ratt, Dokken & the best was Telsa. Telsa missed their era which they sounded more like from the 1970s than 1980s. I grew up as teen in the best era of rock IMO only was the '70s. It was just great rock & roll as we called "hard rock". You had Led, Stones, Who, Kinks, Cooper, Bowie, Queen, April Wine, Blue Oyster Cult, Deep Purple and many more, the beginnings of "heavy metal" was Black Sabbath they were the godfathers of heavy metal, listen to Sabbath's "Into Void", "War Pigs", " Children of Grave" that is some heavy metal.

Thank you for all the nights Robbin. You always impressed me with your coolness. When you let those kids upstairs so they could meet the scorpions was great. You always did stuff like that. You were still a fan. Most of those musicians lost that. Hope your jamming with Randy R.I.P. my friend..🙋🤘

What makes me sad as a frequently anemoic gen Z kid born in 2000, is that while today I don't have to choose between psychedelic rock, glam rock, grunge, or any of the various popular genres or aesthetics of the 20th century, I can just put them all in the same class and enjoy all of them. But when all the movements I look back on were new, people had to choose between them. People had to choose to "move on" from "outdated" glam rock of the 80s to the understated grunge of the 90s. People had to choose a niche to commit too, or others would call them posers. I guess wanting to be into everything is what a poser is, but I've always been this way.

What today's kids and even those that grew up in more of the 90s than say the 80s don't understand is that it wasn't just metal music that kicked ass but all the rock scene was far better than anything. Even what would have been considered pop in the 80s, Michael Jackson & Madonna for instance just was so far above. The 80s was truly the best music decade. There will never be anything like it.
