Literally unbelievable that this is happening to so many cars and the amount of water that is pouring in and the potential electrical damage this can cause..
Never even heard of this before and thanks for sharing this information and bringing it to our attention, it’s definitely something I will look and check for regularly to catch it sooner rather than later 👍🏻👊🏻

It is unfortunately quite a common issue with most vehicles

I had water ingress on my E92 M3 and found it's quite common, not the same as what's happened to your BMW but water got into the ECU and caused Mayhem with car as you can imagine, the problem was solved by rechanelling the drainage under the bonnet...and dried the ECU out...car's all good now...by the way just want to say thanks for the work you did on my car changing the Rod bearings etc would recommend you first class...👊👊👍

@@ancientdon964 I couldn't find a local professional to fix it and the mechanics that were willing to 'have a look' weren't prepared to dry the vehicle out so I ended up doing it all myself. Not difficult to do but there was a lot of water in the sponge under the carpet. Took a couple of days to squeezing and dry the water out. Changing the damaged cover bit was easy tbf. Got the part from BMW for around £12.50
