I've just done the rear nearside door on my 2014 F10 530d. Your video, and the similar one by MekanikArnas, were invaluable. Thank you! Wouldn't have attempted it otherwise. As you suggested, unplugging the wires made it a lot easier. Couldn't believe how much force was required to get the door card off, especially the first trim clip or two.

But how does the water get into the inside of the door even if the seal behind the door card is bad? Shouldnt the outer rubber trims prevent water from getting in there?

Thank you! Worked like charm. My tip, if you have troubles removing old buytl from the door (on a hot day) I recommend using duct tape (I used 3M) to do "depilation" :) of buytl material.

Hi - did you simply glue the old foam and not replace the whole foam part? Thanks

The first plastic bit doesn't need to be removed , you just need to access the screw 👍

On my car there was a lot of butyl but its 2012 and now its 2023 and it lost its capacity to bind and seal. Good video

It's the window seal that is the problem not the glue holding the internal panels on. Replace the window seals.

Not taking away the cause or half solution. If it not runs on the carpet, the door get filled. In fact it's a design mistake for many years. My E39 525D of 2003 had the same problem. You've an inner rubber sealing and an outer rubber sealing on the door. The two rubber taps under the door are in between, so if the outer sealing holds it can still get in. Also the door might get partly filled. The best way would be to drill a hole, outside the door outside the outer sealing of the door, near the outside of the door itself on deepest point use a bit Zink paint and tectile to protect the hole. Many cars have this standard

Thanks for doing this video. Did you have to take the silver trim off, I didn’t see you access any screws behind it once off? I have the same problem on my 2012 F11 but it’s the drivers side door.

This door leaks are known for about 20 years now. i had this problem in many bmw e39 cars. and it is still not fixed by bmw, after decads...very dissapointing from customer point of view.

I totally agree with you. Why this shu'd be part of RECALLS ISSUE LIKE AIRBAG and other components. Why BMW are getting away with this? This is a JOKE AND WE BMW OWNERS SHU'D STAND AND DO PETITION TO MAKE THIS AS FACTORY FAILURE AND CAR MAKER SHU'D SORT IT OUT. TEMP FIXING WON'T SOLVE THE PROBLEM. YOU CAN'T OWN A CAR WHICH CAN'T GO THRU A CAR WASH
YOU CAN'T OWN A CAR WHICH ONLY LOOKS DRY IN THE SUMMER BUT WHEN RAINS COMES, IT'S ALL WET. NO WAY. LET'S STAND UP

I know this video is an old one, but in hindsight would you of just put a load of silicone sealant all around perimeter edges of foam insulation?? Steve

After removing the door panel a metal clip fell off. It's a U shaped thin metal flat retainer. I spent hours thinking where it might go and got no clue. Does anyone know where it should go?

I used a dehumidifier ran it for 24hours, I was surprised it pulled around 2 litres of water. I’ve not had any issues since

Great video! 1 question. What is that vertical bar on 4:36 min? (How) do you need to place this bar back to the right position?

    • @zimzimzimmer
      @zimzimzimmer  2 года назад

Hi sorry I’ve only just seen your question. That silver coloured bar to the left of the frame hanging down is mechanism that the black plastic pin pushes onto (the one the goes up and down as you lock and unlock) just turn it back up and feed into the door card then add your plastic cap. I hope that explains it

Hi it was an 8mm bead which worked nicely. I bought mine off Amazon. I think it was about £20 for a 6 metre length. More than enough for the job.

Hi yes it’s worked nicely no more wet carpets. We’ve had a load of rain since and I checked every other day. Glad I explored this route, rather than looking at the Yellow Grommet

I must have viewed at least 6 videos regarding rear passenger water leak. It could be vapor shield on the rear door, grommet on the front firewall or the sunroof. 2014 320XI 80K.
