BMW 5 water leak repair, made like new again!

This video is mainly made up of clips we sent to the customer and, shows a start to finish of a BMW we had in a little while ago. We keep our customers informed by sending them video clips showing areas of concern, their options and work we carried out. This way, the customer is always in control and can be assured of what they are getting.
The car had had the ubiquitous blacking plate issue and the issue had been fixed at another garage, and so initially only came to us for drying. However, we suspected there was another leak (and there was) and on inspection, we didn't believe the work on the blanking plate was a durable repair, as they had used bathroom sealer to put the plate in, and hadn't cleaned out the drainage channels.
After fixing the leaks and drying the car, the customer decided to take advantage of a special offer on sealants and have his car coated.
There was some damage to the rear bumper which really needs a bodyshop repair, but for the time being, we polished out what we could and did a cosmetic repair on the remaining scratches. The car was then coated in a diamond coating; similar to a ceramic coating but made with aggregate diamond nano-rods.
So, having started off with a car which was full of water, the customer went away with a car which looks shiny and will turn heads. They also have the benefits of car paint protection, which will help the car stay that way.

Is it possible to remove/replace the grommet from inside the car? It’s very hard to access from the engine bay in my 550i.

Yeah, but you have to get the carpets up. It's not an simple job either way.

Clean it out and replace with a new plug.

You remove the plate from inside the engine bay. It has 4 torx screws. T25 or T30. You can then see all the trash that's against the yellow plate. Clean it out and silicone all around the plate to seal it off. Then to the right of that clean out all leaves everywhere. For extra measure you can put a hole in that plate itself near the bottom. Bmw really messed up here. No longer is this a luxury car
