Correct, Any water ingress starts from this and goes around. You need to also use a power blowers and clean the 🍁 leafs from the left and right side under the bonnet. Near the windscreen
Thank you for watching my channel, Yes the rear is exact problem I had, soaking Wet Carpet. Once you change this and seal it Water will be gone for good. Don’t delay as it just gets worse. Also blow all the leafs out under the bonnet.
The driver side of my Rhd 530 also has water. My carpet is out and whwb u pour water at windshield there is a stream running from under driver foot area to the rear passenger area. Is that, the same fix? Because it's on the other side.
Thank you for watching my channel, your issue sounds like blocked drain pipes. If you follow my video I advise to change the Yellow Gromet and also clean the Left and right side ducting areas under the bonnet. Water is unable to escape through the correct channels hence finding its way inside. This can be a big long task to clear all drains but you must change the yellow gromet any way as these are faulty by design and become weak with time.

Thank you for watching my channel, Yes it seems in the F10 the route for water in get in the cabin is via this yellow gromet. Change is and clean the drain lines. You must do both to get good results.
Hi, Thank you for your question, I thought the same but the Yellow Gromet does not come out that easy better to push it from inside. Much easier plus you can see the damage of the water from inside if any.
@thespecialist786 ok so you made it look easy from the bonnet side and I thought well why the inside stuff 🤣 much appreciated, waiting for the grommet to get delivered, I bought a house last year with loads of trees next to it, I'm guessing the leaves are the culprit.
@@Deanthomson88 Correct, BMW F10 worst design. You will also need a blower to clear all the Left and Right side pockets of Leafs under the bonet near the wind screen. There is combination of issues that lead to the gromet. The real issue is not the gromet but the drain that get blocked with the leafs and the water finds its way to the Yellow Gromet which should not allow water to go inside the cabin.
Thank you for your comment, I believe you may have also cleared the gutters. Not replacing it will flood your car just a matter of time. Your car, Your Risk.

my front passenger side is not wet only the rear. Is this the same cause of getting the leak on the rear passenger side or would it be something else?

Did this fix your issue?
@@alexandervera8229 Yes it did. The old one was worn out so replacing it worked.

I have a left hand drive car with water getting on the passenger floor mat. Is the grommet issue the same on LHD cars?
Correct, However the Grommet will be on the opposite side. Same issue 100%.
@@thespecialist786good to know, thanks! it’s very difficult to get to in the 550, I can’t even see it from up top 😢

Is this the same concept for the rear driverside getting water in

Might seem a silly question but why did you have to take off the internal stuff? I have the same problem to fix 🤦♂️

I solved by taking it off completely and not replacing it. All fine 4 years on

You never showed the most important step ,, actually fitting the new grommet
Fitting it is easy as pushing it in. Just a little common sense and done.
