Bare minerals is sooo underrated. We need an influencer to bring it back to life. I always get the most compliments on my skin with this brand. It’s so light weight, billable coverage and the skin care was amazing as well!
Bare Minerals was the first foundation I ever used that actually fit my skin tone perfectly. I loved how light and natural it was. Hope they have their moment again.
I used to work for bare minerals, and before that I was super brand loyal to them. I loved their philosophy and knew their products wouldn’t break out my acne prone skin. I was so sad when my bare minerals outlet store closed. It was the funnest job ever. I wish Bare Minerals would make a come back!
My first foundation was their original powder foundation. I still use their Mineral Veil and love their loose blushes. They make great lip products too! It’s a nostalgic brand for me, for sure, and I purchase when something interests me. 🥰
I really enjoyed your take on this. It’s impressive to be able to give such an insightful and in-depth review of a brand as a whole and get it to be under two minutes. I’d be interested to hear more brand evaluations/mini documentaries like this one!
Love learning these types of things. I had many Bare Minerals products but their shade range meant that their products never quite matched my skin tone.
I have used the original mineral foundation for over 20 years! One of the only foundations that is gentle enough for my sensitive skin. Perfect color match and feels like my skin. Love it!
I wear the original Bare Minerals loose powder foundation in fairly light to this day, and I cannot tell you how many compliments I get on my skin at age 50. I wear the Elf Skin Whoa under it and I just put the bare minerals on my t zone. I used the complexion rescue as my sunblock but the Elf one offers more protection and acts as a great base!
I used to watch Leslie Blodgett on QVC when she first introduced mineral makeup to the masses . Too bad I’m allergic to bismuth oxychloride it makes my skin itchy . I was finally able to enjoy her mineral makeup once she created the matte version but by then there were many brands recreating mineral makeup.
I hope they are able to come back and be as wonderful as they were prior. I loved the brand when it was Bare Escentuals! But then they created liners and liquid products like everyone else and were no longer special/unique.
i LOVED bare minerals in high school, i remember there was a store in the mall right across from the mac store that id always pop into. i loved the loose eyeshadows so much
Definitely , not going to lie I have been using them for like 19 years, I have never even tried anything else foundation wise. I am always in panic mode when I can’t find them as easily and it seems they might go bust. They always come back with something new thankfully.
I used to buy it on QVC. Couldn’t wait for the kits ! Then my daughter worked at one of the stores. So big fans of many of their products. Had great brow and eyeliner pencils before those became things. Tell you what - I still use their loose blushes - work great on my 60+ skin because they are so fine. Better than creams which are usually the go-to for mature skin. Love complexion rescue. And still will pull out the OG foundation now and then.
this brand saved me! i suffered from severe acne in my 30's . I tried it the original powder, and in 4 days, all the pimples were almost gone! many people complain that it was messy powder, but I could not care less
Bareminerals complexion rescue tinted moisturizer is my holy grail. Nothing compares. Ive tried so many other tinted moisturizers for the past 15 years but I keep going back to bareMinerals. The silky light feel and the subtle radiance really light up my face and make me prettier.
I work in Sephora at Kohl's and the amount of folks who walk in asking for Bare Escentuals, y'all... (Not dissimilar to when I was in Walgreens and people asked if we handled Oil of Olay 😂) BareMinerals and Tarte are like the only 2 brands anyone over 50 cares about... and we're in Kohl's so MOST of our clientele is over 50 😅
What's wrong with them calling it bare escentuals? It used to be that and people don't necessarily care about rebrands. There's nothing wrong with what older people are saying why are you being catty about it?
Sadly the haus labs brand doesn't have a light enough foundation for me, I need something between their white color and between the cool pale color, I'm a cool toned pale person... And it is so absolutely impossible to find makeup... What blusher shades do you like to use? I'm a Ginger so..makes it hard not to look too red.. I used to like to use bronzer on my cheeks but it feels like laguna isn't the same color as it used to be =/
I loved their mineral makeup. The shade was spot on for me and I could build it up to whatever coverage I needed. Except to do that correctly I needed to take the time to buff in the powder slowly. However, If my nose was a little runny, forget it. The makeup would wash off around my nose 😢
I used them when they first came out. I tried the tinted moisturizer but the lightest shade wasn’t good and oxidized on me. However someone recently recommended their concealer powder to use on my nose because for some reason I cannot figure out, foundation alone just doesn’t work on my nose. I also used Jane Iredale which no one talks about but I really like some of their products.
Bare minerals was the first makeup I ever bought!!! I was a gay kid and bought it for my sister knowing id never let her use it!! It covered pimples and redness incredibly well! And now, 22 years later i still use the bisque concealer. I buy it in triple size from QVC. It has been sold and they closed all the stores and discontinued over half the products a few years back. ❤❤❤❤❤❤
I still love and wear bare minerals. The original loose foundation.. and it never lets me down. Beautiful glow and feels light as a feather. The tinted gel is sooo good as well.. tfs❤
Me too! It's basically the only eyeshadow products that I have used in a decade now. The queen Phyllis is so pretty for the inner eyelid and in a hurry just a swipe of Bare Skin across the lid is so natural.
While I no longer use their foundations, their Gen Nude lipglosses are my absolute favorite. Soooo many flattering shades with a shiny gloss that have great pigmentation. I have yet to find a dupe for some of their shades
I adore their products, especially the powder foundation. It is just everything and you have to have skill to really buff it into a cream. You can’t just slap it on and run, and the process is just wonderful. It’s so perfecting.
Wasn't there also another mineral makeup brand that started around the same time as Bare Minerals that Leeza Gibbons was a spokesperson for and their tagline was "So pure you can sleep in it". I remember purchasing that one. Or was that also Bare Escentuals?
Their foundation and foundation brush is divine! However, i had a hard time finding a foundation with cool and warm tones. The foundation brush is the best ive ever used.
Yes!!! I do remember 😊 I'm old enough to. 😊 I bought bare essentials from QVC back in the early 90s. It wasn't very known back then. Airport security flagged my bag to search because of the random tubs of powder (for real!) I had gotten the cube box starter set in fair which came with a Kabuki brush, ashade called warmth and a rosy pink cool tone. It's still my favorite powder foundation. I use it in all but the coldest months. I use it bye bye foundation then. I loved your video, took me back to the day. 😊
Another interesting tidbit about Bare Escentuals (yes, that's how it's spelled): Buxom is a sister brand to bareMinerals! And now that they're owned by Orveon, Laura Mercier is also their sister brand.
I knew I wanted to use bare minerals based on reviews and the natural aspect. I finally got the complexion rescue and I love it and plan on trying their concealers too. I think if they got on the refillable packaging wagon it might help revitalize them. And yeah their packaging is so so, I feel like it's not as iconic as some of the other brands I've seen
Yay i love hearing about the history of brands! I used to love bare minerals. The mineral veil is gorgeous and they did a great mascara which was discontinued. Wasn't a fan of the skincare. The complexion rescue clung to my dry patches. Lumene does a lovely skin tint gel to moisturiser. Limited shades, unfortunately. Much love ❤
I still use their loose powder foundation I'm on my 3rd or 4th one. They are being held up by those of us with reactive skin who need the mineral makeup.
To this day I am so sad they stopped making their loose powder eyeshadows. I loved them with a little sparkle and not too glittery. I still have them and will never get rid of them. I know they are old but I still love them.
Bare Essentials used to be so much fun. Every color of eyeshadow and blush under the sun and anyone remember those eyeshadow tutorial kits like the Rocker Eye and the Smokey V?
Bare Minerals, Prescriptives, and Physician's Formula, I feel all rely on their base of loyal customers to keep them afloat. I think of how Coty Airspun which is/was a quality product, just sat there until it went viral with the new generation. Now its smaller, cost a bit more and for what. They all need their own marketing so they can control they narrative and not be tossed to the side when the next big things comes along. I love love love powder makeup now that i know how to apply it. Thank you all for your videos. ❤
I used to order Bare Escentuals who is now Bare Minerals until Shiseido bought them out. I use to watch the infomercials and was in awe. I ordered from them in like 2010 when I was able to afford it and had a monthly subscription to them for years. But I cancelled when Leslie sold the company. Before that, I was a Lancôme girl.
I liked Bare Minerals and their mineral foundation was close enough to my shade that it worked out... But after a few years I think they changed the formulation a bit, because they started to make my skin itch when I'd sweat a little, and I'd also get huge, deep painful bumps along my jaw line after wearing it. So I had to stop wearing it.
This brand has been around forever! I’ve always disliked any kind of liquid foundation or product they’ve had, they’re GREAT at powders but the liquids I don’t trust. They make amazing powder shadows in neutral shades, one of the only brands to do it.
I tried them back in the day and never repurchased. At the time I had terrible acne and this was not the solution 😅. Now I'm clear and may give it another try if you review some first
You said they were sold again, who to? I used their products all through my twenties and it worked great. Then I kinda phased into new things. I still have & use healthy radiance- I have several autoimmune diseases and am incredibly pale when I’m in flare or just having a bad day. On those days this and and another company’s product (apricot something) are the visual difference between me and a corpse 🧟♀️💀👻
Now that I am in my late 30s, I have gone back to bare minerals. Everything else sets into any wrinkles I have and just look horrible in any natural lighting.
My mom still uses it and refuses to branch out. I've tried to tell her that so many brands, including drug store, have released mineral foundations that perform as well, if not better than Bare Minerals. Her foundation costs twice as much as mine.
The finish the original formula has is quite unique… I gotta say I have many drugstore powders I love (j cat is my fave) but as for the mineral stuff… I do think Bare is kinda special in that regard and it lasts foreveeer
I’ve tried the drugstore mineral powder foundations and none of them were as pretty and nice feeling on the skin as Bare Minerals. One of the few makeup essentials I’m willing to pay the extra money for.
I will never forget watching Bare Minerals infomercials in the middle of the night 😭 they had some of the best branding and shade ranges in the 2000s
Right ?! Loved the infomercials !
the shade ranges are horrible
Bare minerals is sooo underrated. We need an influencer to bring it back to life. I always get the most compliments on my skin with this brand. It’s so light weight, billable coverage and the skin care was amazing as well!
Bare Minerals was the first foundation I ever used that actually fit my skin tone perfectly. I loved how light and natural it was. Hope they have their moment again.

I've used bare Essentials/Minerals since it came out. I would say that this brand and formulation lived up to its original hype!
If I could only keep one makeup product I own it would be the Complexion Rescue. Quick, easy, good coverage that's long lasting and feels hydrating.
I really enjoyed your take on this. It’s impressive to be able to give such an insightful and in-depth review of a brand as a whole and get it to be under two minutes. I’d be interested to hear more brand evaluations/mini documentaries like this one!
I wholeheartedly agree with you comment @wabi_sabi52 . I’d love to have her sum up my brand and give a short 10K ft view of branding etc. 😮
Love learning these types of things. I had many Bare Minerals products but their shade range meant that their products never quite matched my skin tone.
I remember Bare Esssentials was only available on infomercials back in 2003
And on QVC
@@carolstarr9062 do you remember the stackable eye and cheek shades
I have used the original mineral foundation for over 20 years! One of the only foundations that is gentle enough for my sensitive skin. Perfect color match and feels like my skin. Love it!
I wear the original Bare Minerals loose powder foundation in fairly light to this day, and I cannot tell you how many compliments I get on my skin at age 50. Same! I’ve used this loose powder foundation since I was about 18, and at 45 am still using it. I get so many compliments on my skin too 🤗
I used to watch Leslie Blodgett on QVC when she first introduced mineral makeup to the masses . Too bad I’m allergic to bismuth oxychloride it makes my skin itchy . Yes!!! I still love their loose eyeshadow. My go to for my eyes.
I remember when they had a monthly subscription box advertised on TV. Their tag line was "Swirl, tap and buff!"
Loved their mineral veil ❤
Really underappreciated products.
Definitely , not going to lie I have been using them for like 19 years, I have never even tried anything else foundation wise. I am always in panic mode when I can’t find them as easily and it seems they might go bust. They always come back with something new thankfully.
I still wear their powder foundation and the mineral veil, especially in the summer. Good stuff.
They are original clean beauty products. If they can rebrand to be a clean aesthetic brand they should fit right it 2020s
I remember when they blew up on the home shopping channels back in the day. They were truly huge at one time!
I used to buy it on QVC. Couldn’t wait for the kits ! Then my daughter worked at one of the stores. So big fans of many of their products. Fr, my parents bought me a small set with their powder in the lightest shade and it was SO DARK for me!
