    A lot of Aussies are happy for MCo Beauty because they are not given access to so many brands in the US, Canada, UK and Europe. They just aren't shipped to Australia. For this reason, I feel MCo Beauty is necessary at the moment.🤔

      Agree. And the price point of things down here now. So many foundations now approaching the $100 mark at sephora and mecca. It's crazy. They've gone up so much

      Came to say this. Also NO ONE in Australia is buying MCo at Woolies or Elf at Priceline and thinking we’re getting Charlotte. Like, the idea that we could be mistakenly buying one of these products believing it’s CT or Drunk Elephant or any other high end brand is just nonsense.

  • @bil8647

    The word dupe has two meanings here. To duplicate someone else's products and to dupe people as in to defraud them. Creating a dupe of someone else's products means they don't have to put in time or money for the research for product development and marketing research for packaging. If your product is so good, why make it look like someone else's and not your own? It's lazy at best and immoral at worst. I watched the interview with the founder of MCO. She clearly states she doesn't care how many small brands and independents she puts under.

    I thought you were gonna talk about the ingredients 😭 and perhaps if they were similar. For me what’s most important when comparing a cheaper more affordable option vs a higher end product, is the skincare or ingredients that are inside the product. I want my makeup now to have skincare in it and I’m willing to fork out extra coin if the product has more benefits in it the way higher end makeup tends to be marketed as. I would have loved to have known if the mco also had skincare benefits inside too

    Mco has been aggressively marketing in Woolworths grocery stores in Australia with a large area in the aisle and multiple end caps. So many of the dupes are by brands that we cannot get here; why the Aussie hate, brands? I have tried their Dior PH blush dupes and they're interesting but I only ever see 2-3 shades. Their Birthday Cake Butter Balm is quite nice, I don't feel glitter on my lips. I do use the Mega Balm every day and carry one in my bag but it's not a strong dupe of the Kahi Multibalm (If that's who they were copying? They go after K-Beauty, too!) with scent, taste, and longevity in the Kahi is luxe where Megabalm is easy to have everywhere like a giant chapstick I can use on hands and face. If it had sunscreen too I'd have it in my pocket.

    Australian products are not aviable without 35% Customs + Custom taxes + Customs handling so, one product that is 50 $ in USA you will pay around 75 to 80 $ in the European Union Countries...as brands like Charlotte Tilbury have a warehouse in a European Union Country we don't pay those high custom taxes and custom rights so at the end yes, CT is expensive but MCo will be as expensive if not more....will you pay more or the same for a "dupe" of a product if this "dupe" holds a lower quality?
    Obviously NO, thanks.
    Elf mini palettes costs like 5 $ and if you want one here you will pay around 18 $.
    So for us here in European Union Countries it has become more of what is aviable and how foreigner brands think on us or not (remember UK is not an EU country so anything you buy there you will pay a lot).
    I know EU is protecting the European brands (not only about makeup) but even for brands sold by Sephora like Natasha Denona. Natasha Denona midi palettes are 68$ in USA and the same palette in Sephora Spain is 75€ and that is 81$ for the same exact product.
    Remember when people bought alcohol and tobacco in the duty free or when travelling?
    I do exactly the same with makeup products when I travel to USA. Stack like 5 mascaras, 3 palettes, 4 blushes etc etc.
    If I'm going to pay the same...and being a 61woman who already tried SO many "dupes" and knows that the quality has a price (and never found any amazing, excellent and perfec "dupe") ...no, I'm using my money in the products that are the best for me and not interested in "dupes" from people that are NOT using the highest quality. I can understand AU consumers that would pay so much for the originals and if I couldn't get the original and wanted to try something, maybe that would be a good option. For us in EU is quite the contrary, cheapest to buy good quality ONLY if the brand has a warehouse in any EU country.
    Weirdest thing is... there are a lot of BIG brands that prefer not to open a warehouse in EU and loose millions of customers.

      Part of me agrees, but part of me feels like certain LUXURY brands are just being elitist and need to be knocked down a peg.

    • @glittersloth11
      @glittersloth11 Месяц назад +4

      From a legal standpoint, it is not unlawful for third party competitors to create the same, or a similar, product. So long as any intellectual property rights or protections aren't being infringed, it isn't theft. If a brand has not obtained a patent, copyright or trademark for various elements of a product, it's usually because a particular aspect of the product is not sufficiently new, original or innovative. This is actually a good thing as it prevents any one brand or company from having a monopoly over a specific area of the industry. Imagine how unfair it would be to both the industry and the consumers if only one brand were allowed to make a blurring primer or a satin finish foundation. It allows the industry as a whole to thrive, rather than just a few major brands, and also allows for consumers to choose which brands/products suit their needs and budget.

    • @FoxxyFire-HellFrost
      @FoxxyFire-HellFrost Месяц назад +3

      I find it absurd that some brands will charge you $50+ and a lot of that is for packaging and for the name. In fact, some reviewers try these expensive products and tell you it isn't worth the price and the quality isn't actually that good. So why would I not go for a more affordable product with similar, if not better, results? It isn't stealing. It's creating a more affordable alternative. It is not okay to gatekeep makeup because most people can't afford a $50 concealer or a $70 powder. Besides, this is how the world works. A new invention or innovation enters the market, then whatever isn't patented is imitated because it is profitable. This isn't unique to cosmetics. It happens with anything and everything you purchase in life.

    • @thelipsticklesbians
      @thelipsticklesbians  Месяц назад

      Cosmetic elegance is a real term not something made up. Perhaps it’s not something you’ve seen used by influencers, but it is used in the development of beauty products describing texture and sensation. And it’s not just for dupes. For example, prescription products at a derms are not so cosmetically elegant regarding texture, packaging, sensations. You can make a base that’s functional, but the sensation may not be so elegant, or the packaging. So there is a price to sensations and packaging that are elevated. Think five star hotel vs two star hotels. Hope this helps ❤️

    I don't purchase counterfeit designer bags or knocks off because I believe it's wrong to steal someone else's designs and work, I wouldn't purchase a counterfeit or knock off Lexus. Same with getting makeup from temu that's a knock off of a brand. Dupes are one thing, like e.l.f coming out with blush wands and tarte then following, they aren't trying to pretend to be the real product. No one would ever confuse e.l.f with Charlotte Tilbury but these Mco products are the more expensive version of temu products, almost exact copies, intended to make people think they are the real deal, whether the brand will acknowledge it or not. My mom, for instance, doesn't know anything about makeup, if I sent her a picture of a Drunk Elephant product as something I wanted for my birthday, if she was in store and saw the Mco, she would most likely think she was buying the real Drunk Elephant. Yes, it's up to consumers to know what they are buying but it's also up to brands to have integrity and not almost completely copy another brand. I know Benefit sued e.l.f over one of their mascaras and e.l.f argued that no one would reasonably think that they wrre the same, price wise and packaging wise, they were somewhat similar but no where near this level of copying. Dupes are fine but knock offs are not.

    • @glittersloth11
      @glittersloth11 Месяц назад

      The thing is..whether you use the term "dupe" or "knockoff" the topic is subjective. Brands are not legally (or otherwise) bound to have any integrity (as nice as that would be). Just as consumers are not forced to be loyal to one brand only. There are many legal freedoms afforded within the beauty industry - one of which is that it is not unlawful for a third party competitor to create a similar or exact product based on another brand's product. Unless there is clear infringement of copyrights, trademarks or patents, the waters can get extremely muddy when trying to prove theft of something that has not been legally deemed as sufficiently original, new or innovative.

      It is just make-up plagiarism. Let the real artist do all the quality formulation and then dive in and take advantage of the work while offering very little to the mix. Quality will always speak no matter what.
