    That building looks more like a small business, like a small medical clinic, dental office or something like that, than living in it. Anyway, it is curious that a house of that cost has the drainage pipes going down the walls in the front facing the street (0:16). That in addition to looking aesthetically horrible, would be illegal in cities of other countries.

      I do. And as for the value of the property, the value of the building itself will go down over time, but not necessarily the land below. I have plenty of clients who bought condos new a few years ago and sold them for a large markup, even this year and last.

    As you're walking in the door we're very low to the ground, at the height of the door handle which is a little off-putting.
    Don't be afraid to leave the floor plan on the screen for longer/put them in a more prominent area, I barely noticed that they were coming up until midway through the video.
    I liked the panning shots at 2:33 and the movement + wide angle after it. The shots before felt a little static + cramped, it was hard to get a feel for the space when you can only see a singular wall + you. Not seeing the floor was a little trippy as well as it's hard to gauge heights of things without it.
    Some of the B roll felt a little shaky, the movements a little jittery.
    Some of the shots angles were a little off, a little tilted which made me turn my head a little bit wondering what seemed wrong.

    One of the main things holding me back from moving to japan is the lack of houses with garages. I've dreamt of moving to Japan specifically for car culture and it's seemingly impossible to find a home catored around that. What about rural Japan?

    • @TokyoPortfolio
      @TokyoPortfolio  2 года назад +33

      There's plenty of houses with garages over here (I've seen 5 or 6 car garages in certain listings), they're just not as large as you might be used to and are much more expensive. Space is a luxury over here, so having your garage eat up space is not on the top of most people's minds. As for rural Japan, I would say it's definitely easier and cheaper to build a large garage there, so if you're looking to build a place with a large garage, it might be a good idea to go outside the city.

      Agree, they are big on space. The more you want in the city, the more $$$ you will need to pay. I've noticed outside the city limits, go wild til your heart is content. I've been in Japan for 3 years and love it here. Want to plan on retiring here, in a large home outside the city limits, somewhat close to a train station. Japan is a beautiful country, and I love their housing designs, and furniture designs. All intended to save space.

    I'm gonna say it.....Japanese modern architecture in Tokyo SUCKS 1. no windows at all 2. tiny everything 3. no rooftop patios 4. cheap flooring and hideous wall color/patterns. The ONLY amazing thing in homes are the toilets, bathtubs and ac technology.

    I like the house and its architecture. The small studio at the bottom away from where you actually live, the bedroom layout, the nice bathroom and kitchen, the open layout and overall materials used like concrete, dark wood, long glass, and black painted metal. The one issue I have is with those sideway windows because when the moonlight comes in when you’re sleeping and I can be hard to put blings in.

    Okay the Japanese definitely need to come here to the USA and re-invent our plumbing. I'd love to kick toilet paper to the curb. That re-heat the water thing with the bath tub, man that would have been nice in my current place. It was built around 1980 and has the HUGE jacuzzi tub, completely open to the bedroom. You know that era, everybody thought they were a porn star lol. Thing is the 50 gallon water heater is BARELY adequate to put warm water in this tub. I like to broil my brains out when I take a bath, so I boil hot water on the stove and dump it in there before I soak. It still gets too cold too quickly to my tastes.
