- I just wanted to explain what happened in the current Rome 2 Tournament and that it still is up and running! A team cheated and tarnished their reputation and tried to take advantage of me and the community.

2020: Cheat in a 6 year old game that does not have a cash prize in front of hundreds of people. Priorities.

Cheating over a "fun tournament match" and u get only a "Title" wow....... Good job.
That's why I hate playing competitive games cuz they just think they are above everyone in game. When there's better teams out there and everyone has "bad games" that doesn't mean anyone sucks. It just means they need a better opportunity.
Everytime I play total war, I usually friend ppl who I go against, win or lose. I give advice and receive advice. Actually.... Not usually? But it's kinda meh lol, tho I do like playing against ppl regardless I lose cuz I can learn from my mistakes (always watching my replays) and or trying new strategy.
I imagine they thought that it being such low stakes would make it very unlikely for them to get caught.

For an outsider like me (who's not familiar with this game, just clicked because its on my recommendation), I had difficulty seeing the big picture (how they cheated) because there are so many distractions in the narrative.
"So here's how they cheat. By the way, I am trying to be objective and you know what, let me tell you more background story before we get to the point."
(5 minutes later)
"Ok, let's get to the point. Again, I don't want to sound biased but let me tell you the context that I am about to tell you..."
(Another 5 minutes)

I suggest to put a summary of what they did in the first 5 minutes of the video and then you can elaborate on each points and add your personal opinion on the next 20 minutes of the video.

Good comment. The actual way they cheated could have been explained in 10 minutes or less "in an unbiased way". The opinions/rant (which are more than 70% of the video) could have been extra/optional after that.
Honestly I hit minute 13 of this video I was convinced this was a prank. You just had to laugh really. I said to myself "haha, Ok you got me, who made this video?... doesn't seem like the kind of channel to do a prank like this. He's so deadpan in his delivery... All the comments are serious..."
THEN he actually says something of substance. That was crazy. THAT WAS CRAZY. I've never seen someone speak so slowly while speaking so quickly.

I'm actually confused. Just watched and they cheated by having a fake team and DCing? It was like 25 minutes of just ranting with no actual information. This could have been 3 minutes long...
As someone who fought them in the first tournament in the first round where me and my friends tried to get them punished in that tournament I am happy to see them finally get what they deserve which is losing and now no longer being “ immortalized as the best” because in my eyes and in many other they were only cheaters nothing more.

It sucks you had to make a video about this type of behavior in a tournament. Thanks to Ellington for originally finding this information out and passing it around to Apollo and other RUclipsrs so the TW will be fully shown as the cheaters and bad sports they are. I feel the community will be better now that they are gone and have been shown with proof to be cheaters and liars.

I don't know when I'll be buying a computer to play total war. Since I want a good running one so I might get a custom built but I really am not good at making my own lol cuz I'll get mind blown if Idk what I'm doing. So I might get just some computer that's good and able to handle steam games.

Future reference: Make sure your refs are equally spread out among the battles.
And if you choose to keep the Academy in, have 2 refs watching of YOUR choosing. And maybe make yourself 1 of those.

But literally, Apollo did his best but the choices made are very difficult.
Admins are only trustworthy ppl and the teams needs to be more fixed on fun than competitive cuz it's a community event not a actually competition/competitive event that involves a prize.... Otherwise titles actually means anything to them cuz it's stupid.
To the ppl whose like me (a casual) who doesn't care about titles just about the gameplay and fun. If my team lose I give props to the team. I might even friend them cuz I do play ok.
Korean Cowboy42 I know he is doing what he sees as best. I just thought I'd help him do better. Having one ref set up to monitor most of the matches of a single team was, in my opinion, a mistake. It being community matches with no prize, it shouldn't have been a problem. All we can do is safeguard for the future.

I feel like this Total Winner team should be named and shamed as to prevent the rest of the community to be able to distance themselves from these players. Last thing I myself as a new player would want is to go into a battle with these guys whether it's competitive or not. This team went to such an extent to cheat, now by not mentioning who they are you will be allowing them to get away with nothing but a slap on the wrist .... along with the humiliation to the entire Rome 2 community.
The fact that the non cheating won, shows their raw skill. It’s hard to win against such exploits. I play a lot of sports and if cheating ever took place, the opposite team has almost no chance at winning.

I just play this game and watch these videos for fun, I'm not good at it and would never been be able to win any tournament game. It's honestly so disgusting to me that people cheat in the MLB, NFL, NHL, and professional sports, but like at least they have a motive?? But like cheating in something like this? Why? What's even the point? The only thing you are doing is being a jerk, you get absolutely nothing out of it even if you don't get caught. Any cheater is gross, but if you do it during a game just between friends and people that you trust you're just a terrible person.

I understand your frustration and everything else you say does need to be said but please next time you need to do something like this tell us about the actual cheating first then go and say what this means for the community etc. If you want to remain unbiased give us the events first and then talk about what they mean to you, so we may draw our own conclusions first before hearing yours.

So to list the cheating tricks:
- Used broken mechanics of TW to break the enemy
- Tried to get as much powers as possible to make rules beneficial to their tactics and play-style
- Played against their own teammates in the 1st round so said teammates can throw the match and move forward in the Tourny
- Planted a friend as ref so the illegal moves are not called out
- (Possible) Purposeful disconnecting when losing to restart the match
Am I missing anything else to how a team can sink so low (in a COMMUNITY TORNY of all things)
And then still lost!!! Lol

Very pathetic indeed. If I was the team fighting against them, I would've whipped their asses with my two buddies.
Baktria, Carthage, Rome, Macedon, Sparta. (Idk what other factions I play, I haven't in awhile).
Also these total winners are now total losers. The community atleast took the liberty to expose them. Gaming community needs to up their standards especially not to have garbage peeps like "total winners".
This is handled with so much humility, I would of been far more aggressive so respect to you Apollo. I can't believe the level that real people have gone too. This whole situation is stupid and just outright pathetic. The community comes together to enjoy the tournament and fair play to those who entered and tested there skills and I get you don't want to cover this battle but these guys won a battle against cheaters, that's pretty impressive.
Of all the things to do...cheat in a tournament of a game yes you play to win in the campaign but its all fun. You play to have fun and theres the old saying "even in defeat you win" because you learn why you lost and grow from it.
I admit I cheat in the campaign in Rome Total War and Medieval 2 Total War just using the money cheat to make big armies and building cheat just to make better units. I just enjoy watching big armies fight it out all for fun. This, this is just disappointing because what was the point of cheating when the tournament is all for fun.

I remember a great many people calling 'Total Winners' total cheaters in the last tournament. Seems it was well deserved. @Pixelated Apollo all the teams related to 'Total Winners' should be banned.
Were the Total Winners the siege tower glitch guys? Cuz I remember that, and when Apollo put it up to a poll there was this huge boom in the poll that everybody was pretty sure was bots.

You should just ban everything Total cheaters related, they used everything they could to rig the tournament, none of its members should be allowed anywhere near of the community again, disavow them, but also let know the whole community of this team immortalize them as the Total Cheaters they are.

But through the whole video I got 2 questions in my mind :
1. what are these rules that they wanted in their favor ? You mention it multiple times but won’t tell us ( like specific strategies not allowed ? Or this or that unit banned ? )
2. How many refs are there in a game like this in a tournament ? Because for me having a ref in a game like this for the purpose of overlooking the game has no real influence in the game or am I wrong ?
Well, I dunno about your first question. But the second about the referee is quite important. Even if they don't have a direct influence in the game, it is useful to have things be witnessed in realtime just in case.

Especially cheating on a community event "Tournament for fun"

I mean how poor soul you must be to do this? Cheating in for fun tournament and acting like some kind fo hero. These guys must be some really sad individuals with no life whatsoever... But their ego is just on the Moon.

Teenagers cheating yeah believable but fucking adult? I'm sorry but to play a 6 year old fking game with a large community still playing those games. Really? Ppl have to cheat in a fking total war game??? That's so garbage. They didn't even win which is so fking funny.
1. Using ppl from their own group on the first round.
2. Cheat by having them lose and they advance next round.
3. Cheat by having an admin and another wannabe admin after a miscommunication.
4. They break the rules that's set in a matter of afew mins.
5. Just embarrassing lost their match or matches (also the disconnects)

Hi Apollo if your interested we have a 24 team tournament going right now with a lot of new faces and a strong core of teams who quit the original competition due to this and other problems that were present. We have lots of small youtubers that have promised to make videos but your coverage would be much appreciated. The ruleset is almost exactly the same but admins can't play and community votes help solve issues.

I understand Apollo's reason for uploading this video: it's a lesson to all would-be cheaters. How very sad that gamers feel the need to cheat and gain false attainment. For one thing, it isn't nearly as fulfilling as gaining a true victory, by verve of skill and hours of effort and self-discipline to improve strategies. We all like to win, of course, in any academic or sporting event. But I'd sooner enjoy the game itself, whether the outcome is to win honestly, or to lose graciously, and in whichever result there's a certain nobility. I've been in multiplayer matches where obviously some gamers used cheats to 'hide' in the scenery, God-mode, or whatever annoying tech trickery they employ - and all just to get high kill scores. Admittedly, I'm not the best of gamers, but still enjoy the experience, win or lose. There have been times when my own incompetence during gaming gets the better of my temper (you know, we've all done the exasperated 'GRRRR!'), a recent example is when I was playing GTA IV and got killed half a dozen times during certain missions. Reloading from Niko's mobile phone meant losing money I had to pay at the hospital, $3000 to $4000 dollars worth! But I persevered and, in the end, patted myself on the back for doing so without losing too much money. This is one reason why I prefer to go back and save at the safehouse (excuse the pun) between missions, so I don't lose money by reloading from the actual menu. Back to the issue on cheating, a teacher at school once said: 'If you cheat, you cheat yourself'. He meant that cheaters, during an exam or a test, don't earn their result by hard work and learning from mistakes, which is a very important part of life, and to try again, another important lesson in life. I'm in complete agreement with the banishment process. We don't need dishonest fans of Rome 2 to spoil what should be casual, honest fun.
I knew there was something fishy about the last tournament! A big thank you to all who got involved in the investigation. A smashing well done to Honey Badgers for winning that game and a round of applause for Apollo for keeping us all in the loop and calling out bullshit. They're living in the heads of thousands alright, but not for the reason they hoped. Onward and upwards!

I like the tournament and cheating is something they did but still lost just means that if you do cheating the tournament hates you and god does too....

What makes this situation even worst is the possibility that some of the members of Total Winners may not have been in the know about the cheating (a very small possibility but is still possible) and as a result, will have their reputations destroyed because of the actions of greedy and selfish people.
Also, do not put yourself down Apollo. You and the rest of the TWR2 community had their trust destroyed because of a couple of bad eggs.

Well this is very upsetting. I heard the rumor about TW Academy last night by Ellington. So now what? My team is Veni, Vedi, Vici and we played TW Academy in the first round. And I'm sure as you know what it was the same ref. Cause he threatened to end the match for nonsense several times. I know we can't go back in time. But I think we, at least, deserve a spot in the next tourney.
All we can do is either restart, or wait for the next time bud. Sorry for the inconvenience.

@@DraconisSmith I've never played TW but I've watched enough of Apollo's videos to know that if you are a part of Apollo's tourney admins you should let this team into the next tournament, that is absolutely what Apollo would do. I know there is no prize for winning the tourney but the team was robbed of a good time, that is as long as the Total Winners Academy was in fact also cheating. Please keep this in mind

You obviously haven't been on the discord server, these people were being toxic and changing rules during the first 2 rounds of the tournament. The cheating actually annoyed me less than their attitude towards the community.
