Some great maneuvers in this battle. I love it when you zoom out, gives a good perspective and makes the battle that much more real and easier to follow.

It's an excellent pitch battle in all sense. The way that Epirus kept their line against three enemies armies and at the same time still manages to survived with some units until the end, is very respectable; congrats to that player. =D
Y'know what I'm thinking happened with Syracuse was he had that cavalry and had two choices to make: join up with Pontus, or distract Rome and Epirus long enough for the rest of his team to regroup. He had to make a quick decision and decided distraction was the better option. By the time he realized it wasn't, it was too late for his cav to make any difference on the other side of the map, so he followed through with the original strategy. ^That's the only thing I can think of that makes sense of why Syracuse did what he did.
Despite my now almost constant dissapointment with CA's products I have got to admit that being able to witness a battle this big on a computer game so immersive is amazing. Not even close to the proportions of most real life battles but still pretty crazy. Also I appreciate Apollo's capability of keep focused in the game for so long and always having something on point to say. I wonder if he speaks alone a lot
real life battles during this time usually were 20kv20k only hordes or confederations came together and tossed 100k+ people at u on a normal basis even Rome and Parthians weren't battling 50kv50k that often id say rome 2 battle sizes aren't that bad at max size plus you can make unit sizes bigger or smaller based on your preference(and what your device can handle)
Awesome, thanks Apollo. Could you do more pitched battle scenarios? I love siege battles as much as the next guy but I feel like you post so many of them they loose their luster
Yeah, can people just stop stretching their units so THIN to make the line even more longer, I'd would to see a pitch battle with thick line instead of thin line.
That's what I love these games for. Big huge pitched battles like this history documentary aboout Gaugamela I watched as a kid at 2am on a weekend. You should also try this in DEI. the battles there feel like Napoleonic 3 realistic except with the French being naked not all fancy in uniform.
Great video man. Just for general knowledge, the cav unit at @3:00 is pronounced thesàlian( th as thrilled, e as the first one in escape, s as Spain, a as American, li as literally and an as anthropology).
The center is always the most important part of the fight in pitch battles. If the center wins then you will split the flanking armies up, and then the two armies from center can help on flanks, and that’s exactly what we saw with the winning team.
I have been playing Rome 2 online pitch battles with big army for years and I have to say that "Rome factions" give their players a huge advantage because they always win infantry clashes, I mean... if you change "desert Rome" and Rome in this battle with other factions they probably wouldn't have won the flank with so much infantry still alive.
YO man are you doing okay outside of youtube? I was watching another video of yours from a few months back and you seemed super excited and loud. Here you seem super tired or stressed, maybe im thinking too much. Hope youre okay man, we love ya
bro amazing stuff, i also like the fact that you did a field battle, there is a but tho. i understand its thousands of npcs so it lags, but i expect better from the best.
Field battles I feel have more tactical moves as well, less just "time to feed as many men to this hole." And more "If I hold here, I can make them push there, and then I can flank it."
Actually the averni player did very good, after arevaci and galatian defeated they lost so many inf so they didnt have enough men left. Well play from both sides !!
Cool battle, but I really hate when you introduce different armies and you always are showing us their backs xD I mean come on, let us look at their shield arts! Other than that, keep it up!
**POTENTIAL SPOILER** So I'm 5 mins in and I'm gonna bet that the roman/Numidian side will win. Will come back and edit my comment with the results. Yeah, they won. Romanesque troops are too good.
Every time he calls cavalry "CAV", it drives me insane. I guess he thinks it sounds cool, but after the 50th time, I got my cav together and retreated off this video. Ugh....
Knights, Lay siege to the Like Button. THAT'S AN ORDER!!
