Hill could overtake MSC at the next straight because he had so much more power with the renault engine(50 HP+). In 2000 MSC had one dnf more than HAK and also won the titel and in 2003 Ferrari wasn't better then Mclaren or Williams.
he cut right across the whole track, blocked him off and made him retire, that and what he did in 1997 are some of the most controversial things in f1, and his fans trying to defend him doesn't work out, it happened already and we know what he did, but he was a good driver. Schumacher could only win if he had a car miles better than the rest. Every close battle he had, he lost, except 1994 when he rammed Hill off the road. 1997- Outraced by Villeneuve. 2005 + 2006- Outdriven by Alonso. As you can see with him in this Mercedes, he can't find the time and he cannot beat his team-mate. He was a good driver, but will never be a true great in my eyes. @forsoup In 1994 he didn't ram Hill out oft the race. He was in front at that corner!!! It was his line!! Hill could overtake MSC at the next straight because he had so much more power with the renault engine(50 HP+). MSC won 1994 with only 12 Races, Hill lost with 16 races!!!! in 1995 the Williams was the better car and MSC won. Every victory in 1995 was magic. In 2000 MSC had one dnf more than HAK and also won the titel and in 2003 Ferrari wasn't better then Mclaren or Williams.
he cut right across the whole track, blocked him off and made him retire, that and what he did in 1997 are some of the most controversial things in f1, and his fans trying to defend him doesn't work out, it happened already and we know what he did, but he was a good driver. A true champion, that deserved more, but those dirty moments like those is what makes him a better character, because he turned his act around going into the 2000s. I'm not going to defend him for those incidents, and he screwed up, but he knew it was wrong and never tried that again

As you can see with him in this Mercedes, he can't find the time and he cannot beat his team-mate.
He was a good driver, but will never be a true great in my eyes.

As an employee you do what you are told by your boss. Besides, Rubens agreed before the race he will do it! And then doing so that everybody (himself, Schumacher, Ferrari team, whole F1) look like idiots!
You don't know how season is going to unfold. A driver can get injured and has to pause. Car might not perform well at some races or other teams catch up. Like for example in 1998 when McLaren was by far the fastest car at the begining of the season and at the end Ferrari was almost as fast as them. So every point counts.
The Schumacher-centric structure was infamously exposed at Austria in 2002, when Rubens Barrichello was forced to surrender his lead to Michael, creating an outcry. Brawn explains the background to it all. “The whole thing was a mess. We’d had the discussion before the race, anticipating exactly that situation and agreed what we would do. Rubens then didn’t want to do it. He came on the radio and said, ‘Don’t make me do this, I want to win the race’, and we had this massive dilemma. You can either let it go - and then you have a different problem because you can’t trust that driver any more and any discussions in the future wouldn’t mean anything, and that is something which is very fractious in the team. Or you could insist. We said, ‘Rubens, you agreed to do this, you said you’d do it, you’d better do it’. And Rubens made a big show of doing it - which didn’t help the team at all. I have a lot of sympathy with him. But he needed to say before the race, ‘Look guys, if I’m leading the race I ain’t going to do that’ and then we could have thrashed it out and come to a conclusion. Michael just got dragged into the situation. He was given the win, could see the crowd reaction and was embarrassed.”
With his title secured, Schumacher then ‘gave’ Barrichello Hungary, trying to make amends by driving off the pace at critical parts of the race. He also tried a staged finish at Indy - which resulted in Rubens sneaking the win. “We didn’t plan any of that,” says Brawn. “It was just Michael trying to compensate for what had happened, because he felt bad about it and was getting bad press. That was all fall-out from Austria. We can debate whether team tactics should be a part of F1, but that’s how it was.”
