    If I'm not mistaken. John also played bass and drums on alot of the recordings as well. Or wrote the riffs and beats. He was ccr. It might've been a brotherhood for many years. But without much involvement in the creative process. They were pretty much there for photo ops and tours. Still one of the greatest rock bands to ever get on a stage.

    Saw John Fogerty a couple of nights ago at BluesFest and he was amazing. The sheer energy and ‘joi de vivre’ the guy emanates is extraordinary. He and his band put on a terrific show, with his son Tyler(I think that’s his name) giving a standout performance on second lead guitar...definitely another Fogerty star in the making. The first act on the bill was Steve Miller, who at 75 yrs young gave a blues rock masterclass that was absolutely superb... a great double bill!

They were the heart and soul of the USA. Fogerty was able to write about the plight of the American people...take you to the foggy, Missippippi swamp, get your heart pounding and made you remember every song. Sure, JF was the voice and the songs of CCR, and Doug and Stu are (admittedly) using said legacy, sound and recognition for CCRevisted, but CCRevisited doesn't have JF. Its not the same. We know it was John's musical genius, but he let that get in their way. They are my favorite band, above Led Zeppelin, Stones, Beatles, Eagles, etc.; which means John is a big deal to me. But, he was very egotistical and ultimately bitter. I have read everything about them, including "Bad Moon Rising," and I still think CCR was: John, Tom, Stu, and Doug. That’s my point, everything you just said is an opinion of yours...
      If he didn’t blend well with others John Fogerty wouldn’t have had him sing back up here and on future performances. Also, he wouldn’t have sang backup to Gary US Bonds, Southside Johnny, Joe G, and I could go on and on even to Joan Jett.
      Chain Smokin is a stellar example of his ability to sing backup. Politics shouldn’t come into play at all, even though he is typically correct in what he perches.

      And he barley understands words he writes? Someone didn’t read his book or see his Broadway show. Not to mention he is the greatest writer of all time. You’re clueless and this debate is over. He is part of Rock and Roll history and the best forever, long live the BOSS!

    • @CaLLMeReaXioN
      @CaLLMeReaXioN 3 года назад

      You have a right not to own any of his things and dislike him, that’s your prerogative. But to say he isn’t great is factually wrong...there is no one he could sing with that’s not as big as him, he’s written songs for a number of big artists, Johnny Cash, the Ramones. He is the biggest of all time at this point lol, like it or not. It’s like me saying Drake isn’t a huge rapper because I don’t like him. Regardless of personal opinion, he is.
      Talk about a big artist? John Fogerty is pretty big and he has had springsteen join him for loads of performances and I’m pretty sure he’s a better judge of talent than you. Good luck!!

    I had read that the audience was so put off by John's attitude toward Doug and Stu that they didn't applaud his set and that he had to practically beg them to get excited. They're applauding although they don't seem overly excited maybe because they just saw it as a John Fogerty solo set.

      Doug and Stu sued John over Old Man is Down the Road. Along with Fantasy Records president. He wrote almost every CCR hit record. The judge said after many trials and a lot of John's money being spent on lawyers, "You want to sue John Fogerty, for sounding like John Fogerty? Case dismissed. John will never forgive them, they almost brought him to ruin. He couldn't play or record for 8 years, as the case was pending. They cost him his livelihood for 8 years.

      Because they, the audience didn't know the truth of the persecution John had suffered from the other band members. John was just coming out of years of depression, '93, mainly due to the assistance of his 2nd wife.

      @@sidebarrecon2201 Not only that, but each member of CCR held one share of voting rights as to what happened with the band. Tom died, so he had no more voting rights. But what did Doug and Stu do? They SOLD their voting rights to John's mortal enemy and nemesis, Saul Zaentz!!!!! Because of Stu and Doug, Saul Zaentz had three votes to John's one vote. Therefore, Saul had a free ticket courtesy of Doug and Stu, to keep screwing over John. John had to sign away any future royalties on CCR recordings to Saul Zaentz in order for Zaentz to give him a release from his Fantasy contract so that he could begin trying to make music and record again.

If you knew anything about the band, Fogerty wrote and showed those 2 dumbasses how to play and what to play to make it sound right and it made them all rich. Then they tried to screw him for everything he had. Do you really think he would want to be on the same stage with them? He chose 2 of the best rockers to join him and from what I understand Cook and Clifford both left as soon as Fogerty went onstage. Fogerty is one of the best rocker songwriters ever.
