Fogerty said they went on stage many hours after they were supposed to. They followed the Grateful Dead which put everyone to sleep. Said the lighting was bad and he thought the sound was bad. He didn’t want to jeopardize the band’s popularity by releasing the Woodstock footage, but as we can see they sounded fantastic. Probably among the best of all the bands that played Woodstock.
Yes i agree, the Who's Roger Daltry said they were the best performing band at Woodstock. Most of the performers there were high on one thing or another. Ccr were drug free.
Over the years, I've wondered what really happened, there are theories about it, one is that John Fogerty asked to be left off the album and the film because they hadn't played well, and because the sound was bad. Another theory was that he wasn't very sympathetic to the whole hippie thing.
@@Anticommunism99 I'm afraid you might be right in a sense. Back then these same people, and that culture, was the counter-culture of the day. Great times in central Queensland, Aus. Ripper music, no breath tests, no bras, no AIDs, CCR, Mullumbimby madness and I just bought a Honda 750 KO/4. Memorable times indeed and I still belt out CCR! We were very lucky and my 3 daughters as well, as they were bought up on decent music.
Andrei Wayne Andrew CCR.... grunge rock?? lol, hardly. J.C. Fogerty & Boys were more blues/rockabilly/rock/country -ish than grunge. But I kinda get what you mean. Sometimes a lot of guitar translates to some grunge. The first grunge band ever was Link Wray and The Raymen🎸
I lived in an area with no FM radio. Always heard the edited version of I Heard It Through the Grapevine. Heard the long version at a party when I was in high school. Couldn’t listen to the edited version after that. Thank goodness for FM radio.
Some one posted here and I saw it before, read it in Johns book , fortunate son, that he thought the sound was bad and lighting and he didn't give permission for the film to use them. At the end of this clip you can hear him mention that there was " a multitude of problems"
A worthy effort of knitting footage together with sound that, short of maybe a downbeat on the drums, even matched. Leaves me to wonder I’d there is any film of that song from that set.
To the annoyance of the rest of the band John wouldn't allow their performance to be used in the Woodstock film. The Grateful Dead went way long in their set, pushing back CCR's performance to about 3 am when most of the audience was asleep. Because of the late hour and the lack of audience response, John felt their performance was not up to their normal standard but they sound pretty great to me.
si esto fue woodstock me haya encantado haber estado en esa tocada lo mejor de lo mejor para la raza ....ya no hay arte en la musica actual solo bulgaridades esto si que era musica y cantantes que viva el rocanrol....ahi te ves
I'm guessing the audio source is the audio of the woodstock set, as the video is actually them doing Born on the Bayou at Woodstock with the audio replaced. They did play Green River as the second track but I don't think any official video footage of it exists (it's certainly not on the Woodstock Blu-ray, Born on the Boyou, I Put A Spell On You & Keep On Chooglin' is on the extra features).
Also if ya dig this song on youtube you may enjoy Where Roses Grow Live by Rez Band. I remember hearing the song by Led Zepp " In My Time of Dyin " during my drug years and made me think about death and Jesus. Then a hippy friend that dug Jesus told me more of Jesus love and forgiveness and how I could also know Jesus love. So in 1981 I cried out to Jesus and wow man He came into my life and I had and have so much joy and peace and now know that through Jesus when I die I will be with Him in Heaven. Hey Jesus loves each of you also and yall can know Him if you are at all open. Just cry out to Him and also read the Gospel of John in the Bible or check out the movie on RUclips. 😀

Never liked the Dead, boring at their best.
You can tell he's unhappy with the sound during this song in the video lol

Most likely they just mixed it to sound better afterwards
Weeeellllll! I was at this performance at one of the best times ever had! Absolutely love you John!
The biggest bar band in the world turned the biggest rock crowd in the world into a bar crowd!
Were you stoned out of your mind like the rest?
Dws productions and films. Oh sure. More than likely! Lol!
@@victoriaballard7354 The music is not original. Woodstock was CCR's worst concert.
No fair!
It was my first live concert, saw them with my mum, dad, & a lucky pal at the Royal Albert Hall, London, unforgettable.
Anything John and ccr sings turns to gold.
Yes sir
Real Woodstock audio, real Woodstock video of a different tune. Sweet!
Clip is Born on the Bayou...
thought the video looked familiar
Well , at 3AM in the Morning , I woulda been up to groove to it !!!
What a time to be alive. They had so many great songs and had such a gnarly sound.
the begining of the woke culture

The voices of Fogerty,Jim morisson and eric burdon the best of rock

This takes me back.! I love this!
Bullshit that the four hour documentary film never even mentioned CCR. They were perhaps the best act there.

Love to read all of the Spanish-speaking fans commenting. CCR was/is transcendent.
I Agree. I Fondly Recall being introduced to these High Flying /Down Home songs by my Brother Don . Rockin' ..
Creedence Clearwater Revival en México es un grupo de culto y con mayor arraigo popular que los mismos Beatles.

Wow, six months later, they had this polished to diamond.
I remember reading that they were playing about 3 or 4 in the morning and most of the audience was asleep!
yes I was, till near the end of the song....
Indeed. I think they were promised the 9:00 pm slot, but so were 5 other acts - apparently.
I wasn't asleep! But pretty fuzzy.
@@acousticshadow4032 Grateful Dead were on before them and went wayyyy over their allotted time.

I hear they’re climbing in the charts again.
Beautiful song

You could learn a thing or three from Tom Fogerty's rhythm work here, like how to use upstrokes to drive the song forward.
I like how in every video they play in you just see stu cook getting in the zone and vibing😂

Fogerty is playing the same make of guitar that John Lennon played in the early days of the Beatles .
On the outside at least ...
James Kennedy
You are definitely correct. He is playing his very famous self-customized "Acme" Rickenbacker.🎸
They obviously remixed the audio ... the video version audio looked awful just watching it lol
Ok lets get this clear. Real CCR Woodstock Footage, they are playing Green River, but this is the album audio over all of it.
The Video isn't Green River. It's Born On Bayou
The song is Green River, but the footage is Born On The Bayou, because there's no video of Green River live at Woodstock
What song are they actually singing in the video?
Born on the Bayou
I understand the artist played 24 seven is this true?
A great song/live performance. But the video editing is a real hack job, we hear them doing Green River, but we see them playing a different song!
