Stu Cook and Doug Clifford, even Tom Fogerty, would be answers to trivial pursuit questions without him. John has immense talent which is underappreciated even now. Thankfully we have the music to enjoy.
Even though people say John Fogerty was CCR I really liked the way they played. They played like they were having fun but at the same time they were playing art cos that's what they were making. The second they touched their instruments and got to playing. That's what's it sounded like. Art. And its some damn good art. RIP Tom Fogerty. Sad to see they couldn't have gone longer. I don't have enough music to hear from them
Congratulations John and thank you for the everlasting gift of your music and great example of grace and honor amongst those who showed their true colors.
CCR was, is and will always be John Fogerty. He wrote all the songs. Doug and Stu should be thankful that they are in the r and r hall fame. If it wasn't for John we wouldn't know their names.
Doug Suitt you obviously never been in a band, of course, Fogerty was the obvious mega foundation of the band, but the drums were an amazing kick ass feature/contributor & the CCR rhythm section together are amongst the best ever, seems like Tom Fogerty never really got a chance to shine, but without an amazing drummer you don't have a band & this is a guitar player talking here.
It was still immature and low for John not to perform with the other members. Sure there is animosity between them, but a ton of other bands have had similar animosity (or even pure hatred!) and they were able to put it aside to perform together one last time
Bryce Thibodeaux John played lead guitar and wrote lyrics AND played the harmonica, Sax, piano and yes drums. John's 1973 Blue Ridge Ranger's album he played ALL the instruments. John's 1975 Self Titled Album he played ALL the instruments. John's 1985 Center Field he played ALL the instruments.

@sabbracadabra, you got that right. I believe the U.S. is the only country that has halls of fame at all (Canada may have picked up on the idea too). We are the most corporate-controlled country in the world, and we are full of meaningless halls of fame. Meaningless because, why celebrate fame?
And most of us knows what happened later in the show. Lol Fogarty tells the producers ' I'm not trying to be difficult but if you just want them to perform that's 👌. I'm not playing with those two. When asked why Fogarty says, ' they left me hanging in the wind.' The bigwigs get together and tell the other two they can't play onstage with Fogarty. Lol. Justice.

@@davecarl77 Saul Zaentz actually sued John for three separate things on the Centerfield album, since he was angry that John got a record deal with a different label. The third lawsuit was the plagiarism one, and Saul made up the story that "bass player Doug Clifford" brought a copy of the album to him and recommended he sue. That statement by Saul is false, since he got the name wrong and had already had a copy of the album to listen to since he had already sued over "Zanz Kant Danz" and "Mr. Greed" - two songs that were written about Zaentz. It was after the third lawsuit by Zaentz that he swooped in to buy the voting rights off of the three band members, taking advantage of Tom's impending death and the animosity that Zaentz fueled between them and John in order to get them to sell to him. I bought "Mardi Gras" when it came out in 1972 because I had all of their earlier albums, plus I loved the two hit singles from it, "Someday Never Comes" and "Sweet Hitchiker". It was intriguing to hear the other band members' contributions on it at the time, but after streaming it on Google Play recently, they don't hold up under the test of time. The four best songs on the album are the two hit singles, the Fogerty-composed "Lookin' for a Reason", and the only remake of an oldie, "Hello Mary Lou".
That must have been very difficult for John. To do so much for the band - to be the main song writer and singer and be screwed over by those guys that you helped provide a career and a living for. And to be surrounded by them collecting the award must have been so difficult. Go John - more power to you 👍
Fogerty was CCR. The other band members could easily have been replaced by pretty much any competent musicians but it was Forgerty's songs, his voice and his delivery that made CCR great.
You don’t understand the importance of a rhythm sections. Ever heard of Fleetwood Mac? Fleetwood and McVie don’t write songs either…but the band’s still named after them.
"I want to thank John Foggerty for his immense talents.." Wow. What an understatement. I think what you meant to say is: Thanks John Foggerty for being CCR, writing and singing all the music, and giving me a job, as otherwise my average musicianship would most likely see me selling insurance.
What Clifford said was very gracious and not an understatement. Fogerty was the songwriter and vocalist. He was great at that. But there were no technically advance musicians in that band, and that includes John Fogerty. And I've seen your videos. You've got no business slagging off on any of those guys in the band. John Fogerty put up with a lot of jealous crap from his brother & the other two guys, but he overcame all of it & is truly a superstar in every aspect. He was CCR.
It must have been very hard for John to compose himself around the other two guys in the band during this ceremony. Without John, there wouldn't have been a Creedence Clearwater Revival.
John Fogerty was Creedance ......... Too bad the other members didn't recognize that and enjoy fame and fortune while they could.. He wrote, arranged, played lead and sang lead on all songs. The others had medium talent while John was a super star !
MrJubbey gee i didnt know John played that driving beat and that bass guitar.LMBO. He had the best rhythm section back in the day when half the San Fran bands like the Dead could barely play their instruments
Really love CCR, yet I never knew about the band members riffs... pretty sad how they made a pact, then sold out and screwed over John Fogerty. Very sad.
CCR were my first favorite band, in my teens. I remain a fan of the music, preferring the B sides. The break up is nothing worth focusing on; it has nothing to do with anyone else, is their business entirely ... and picking sides in such things is infantile. They all provided me with a great deal of enjoyment over the years and this recognition is well and truly justified. John is without a doubt an exceptional musical talent, we are all very lucky to have him. And his song writing success outside of CCR comes as no surprise to me. The skill he has aside from writing, his extraordinary voice and superbly powerful guitar work will remain unforgettable. Happy for you guys, keep doing what you do.
I applaud John for his ability to remain calm while surrounded by the ungrateful, unappreciative snakes sharing the stage with him. Like someone mentioned, no John, no CCR!
This must be a joke. If was so mature, why not let the rest of the band (who were also elected to Hall) play with him during the ceremony? In an industry full of giant, narcissist jerks, John Fogerty really does rise above.

That’s absurd. John Fogerty was/is an insufferable a-hole. He made it impossible for the other 3 to continue in the band. Remember they quit on him not the other way around…
Yea, Doug and Stu did write most of the tracks on Mardi Gras, and that's why it bombed commercially. The truth is, their egos got in the way of common sense, and they couldn't be satisfied with playing behind John and enjoying commercial success. They insisted on having their material on that album, and I guess we all saw the results.
I like quite a few songs from Mardi Gras. It seems like it was a very ugly breakup. Everybody's hating on the other band members but honestly maybe you guys should stop caring about what happened between them and just enjoy the music they created before all of the shit happened. They were a great band.
I didn't know that info. Thank you. That explains why it was so lame. I wondered if John had lost his touch. I will revisit Mardi Gras now and listen. John is CCR.
It's true that CCR is nothing without John Fogerty. I agree. But all the more, I loved John Fogerty more playing with Stu, Doug and Tom than alone. John Fogerty was in his prime with them.
Back in the 50's a record producer named Sam Phillips said if he could find a white singer (Elvis) that sounded black, he could make a million dollars. Well, in the 1960's a guy named John C. Fogerty came up with an idea to do the same by adopting a swamp-rock music persona with catchy lyrics and along with Doug Clifford, Stu Cook and brother Tom became Creedence Clearwater Revival. All of the millions of fans give thanks for recording those great songs that encompass our lives and memories. You guys rock ! 🎸
John EVERYBODY is with you...this is not the Beatles where everybody contributed almost equally to the band; CCR was 90% John Fogerty, and these snakes never understood that and instead of being humble and grateful opted for jealousy and betrayal The Mardi Gras album was CCRs worst album and the last simply because John allowed the group to have the control of the production....enough said. And to add insult to injury these snakes insist in thanking Fantasy records, just the ones who led John into depression and seclusion for a while.
@Joel Banning I know. He did a great job drumming I'm just saying he didnt contribute much to songwriting, he only wrote don't pass me by (let's be honest, not really a great track) and octopus garden, which I would have to say is a damn good song. But that's only 2 out of 200+ songs

John Fogerty went to hell and back but came out the other end better, stronger. CCR is NOTHING without John Fogerty. Stu Cook and Doug Clifford, even Tom Fogerty, would be answers to trivial pursuit questions without him. John has immense talent which is underappreciated even now. Thankfully we have the music to enjoy.
Charles Kuckel
Actually they wouldn’t be Trivial Pursuit answers, because contrary to the name you have to be famous to be mentioned in the game.
@@Brinta3 so dumb comment
Even though people say John Fogerty was CCR I really liked the way they played. They played like they were having fun but at the same time they were playing art cos that's what they were making. The second they touched their instruments and got to playing. That's what's it sounded like. Art. And its some damn good art. RIP Tom Fogerty. Sad to see they couldn't have gone longer. I don't have enough music to hear from them
I saw him in concert in Dublin last week....he was phenomenal, he sounds as good as ever. What a night we had.
My 15 year old son is now listening to CCR
All the time !!!
Congratulations John and thank you for the everlasting gift of your music and great example of grace and honor amongst those who showed their true colors.
Thank you John, Stu, Doug and Tom, for just being there as an inspiration while growing up. And like they say 'all good things must come to an end'.
Khmer Oldies Aficionado John.
As I say, no they don't. We have the music...and the memories
CCR was, is and will always be John Fogerty. He wrote all the songs. Doug and Stu should be thankful that they are in the r and r hall fame. If it wasn't for John we wouldn't know their names.
CCR was, is and will always be a band. Yes. Fogerty wrote the songs, but without all the other guys there would be no CCR either.

Right! If Rock n Roll was golf, John would be hitting from the Pro's tees, and those other clowns would be hitting from the lady's tees. Rock on John, we love YOUR music!
The hall is a joke. Look how long it took Rush and Deep Purple to get recognized. The RRHOF wouldn't know a great band if it kicked them in the ass.
@sabbracadabra, you got that right. I believe the U.S. is the only country that has halls of fame at all (Canada may have picked up on the idea too). We are the most corporate-controlled country in the world, and we are full of meaningless halls of fame. Meaningless because, why celebrate fame?
@@tyronesharp401 SPOT ON
And most of us knows what happened later in the show. Lol Fogarty tells the producers ' I'm not trying to be difficult but if you just want them to perform that's 👌. I'm not playing with those two. What can I say. Thank you John for all the joy you gave us
CCR was my late husband's favorite band. He moved and grooved to this band's lyrics and rhythm of their music. It always took him to a great, laughing, fun, place. Thanks Creedance: you are top notch!!!
I like all of them. But frankly John Fogerty was Creedence Clearwater revival. His voice is so unique. His name resonates CCR...IMHO
Speaking as a drummer, Doug Clifford is a fabulous drummer and played just what each song needed. Having said that, without John Fogerty, CCR was just another band. A tribute band, at that. They should have made up John and stayed together, for all their own good.
When a line is crossed, sometimes you can't go back.

how did he get screwed over .. what happened
His band members after selling their rights to the record company that John had problems with later talked the record company to sue John for plagiarizing a song saying it sounded like another song which he had sung, thankfully John won the lawsuit.
father of the bass player was a lawyer. He looked over the contract and said it was fine . supposedly he looked at it . after reviewing a lot of information I seriously doubt if he ever did look at it . He screwed him and his bandmates did even his own brother screw fantasy workers the owner of that record label is 6 feet under where he belongs
Zaentz always exploited the band to make as much money as possible, and the voting rights allowed him to license the songs in order to make even more money.
Doug is such a underrated drummer

No Fogerty no CCR. This Revisited band with the other two members and a different lead singer are nothing without him!
Nothing but a Karaoke band!
Stu whined saying they were dissed but John told them in advance that he would not play with them, and that they knew why. They, particularly Stu, all stabbed him in the back.

Back in the 50's a record producer named Sam Phillips said if he could find a white singer (Elvis) that sounded black, he could make a million dollars. Well, in the 1960's a guy named John C.
