I don't think the smallest man who ever lived is about Joe. The lines "in public showed me off","if rusting my sparkling summer was the goal", "cause it wasn't sexy once it wasn't forbidden", "you kicked out the stage lights but you're still performing" clearly point towards Matty

I genuinely don’t think Cassandra and thank you Aimee are rep vault tracks. The lyrics can only come from someone who has gotten out of that era, on the other side of the situation and reflecting. She wouldn’t have "thanked" Kim back then. And see that even though things were bad, it led up to her success now and how pivotal rep era was on her career and the way she handled herself publicly. And as for Cassandra, in the song she said when the truth comes out, people are quiet. That full version of the phone call only comes out years later after rep. And looked how quiet people were. It was news, but no one really ‘apologized’ or anything like that. Swifties were loud about it, but the haters were oddly quiet. And Kim still trying to defend her action and calling that cut down phone call ‘unedited’ or whatever she said. Which link back to thank you Aimee, Taylor said I don’t think you changed much…
BUT, she might wrote those songs, in the midst of rerecording rep tv. Looking back on that time and sparks more inspiration with hindsight on the whole situation. Just like would’ve could’ve should’ve, she probably was inspired to wrote that from rerecording speak now tv.

You're together! ❤ Great episode! Destiny, you need to get yourself Sara's mic, you can really tell the difference in the sound quality
i really love this podcast, i do, but it was really hard to listen to this episode because of the polarizing audio levels. sara had such a clear audio but destiny's was so quiet in comparison, and i could barely hear it. i just wish whoever edited this took more care to make the audio levels even between the two audio files. i kept having to turn up the volume when destiny was speaking but then when sara spoke it was too loud because i tried to make up for the difference. sometimes i can notice it in other episodes, other times it's pretty even, but this episode was a little too stark and it was difficult to hear everything des was saying :/

I can’t remember which episode is was but destiny mentioned she wished authors would come to Indy for signings and I just wanted to say that I know it’s not exactly in Indy but in Franklin, IN Christina Lauren will be there May 16th, Ashley Poston will be there June 24th, and Lyla sage will be there July 18th.
They’re at different locations just wanted to spread the info!

Hey girl… where did you find that interview that TSMWEL is abt Joe?
I looked and couldn't find anything. To me that song is about Matt especially with the obvi reference to the suit he wears in concerts and being stoned and trying to buy pills.
Right? Receipts, please and thank you lol I can’t get my brain to process that anything within this song is about Joe. And since when does Taylor confirm anything about anything?
I think she probably misinterpreted, the whole album is about getting over a long relationship with a 'rebound' that's why some songs hint at both Joe and Matty, but to me TSMWEL is really about Matty.
I mean lyrics like "in public, showed me off", Joe and Taylor were so private it's def not about him. "Rustling my sparkling summer", Matty and Taylor broke things off right before the summer, so she was obviously upset then (that's when she sang IDWLF at eras tour and was crying), and "cause it wasn't sexy once it wasn't forbidden"- like Taylor hints at her emotionally cheating with Matty in Guilty as sin, so it's definitely a line about him. Not to mention the stoned lyrics lol.

I'm so sorry girlies, but thanK you aIMiee is SO NOT a song that you write when you are in the thick of your reputation and career being so maliciously taken away from you.
You can only get to writing thanK you aIMiee with hindsight and a LOT of working through it and A LOOOTT of healing.
Only with hindsight can you see how it was all meant to be, even if it deeply hurt you at the time

Noooo I love “I Look In Peoples Windows”!!! As someone who relates so heavily to someone I wanna share my thoughts on it.
I feel like this song is about getting out of a relationship and not having a say in why and also not getting closure. “I’m afflicted by the not knowing” always thinking about not knowing why it ended. “I look in peoples windows in case you’re at their table, what if you’re eyes looked up and met mine one more time” I look everywhere for you. What if we meet again, will she get the closure then? “I tried searching faces on streets, what are the chances you’d be downtown?” Again always looking everywhere for the person because of missing them. “Does it feel alright to not know me? I’m afflicted to the ‘if only’” this one hits hard because it’s like she’s saying they didn’t get to hear her out. Thinking “if only I could’ve said what I wanted”.
I don’t know this is my favorite song because i went through something just like this and it leaves you always looking for the person to get closure. 🥹🥹
