  • We went to Spain to test the brand new Yamaha Tenere 700 World Raid after conquering the victory at the Tunisia Desert Challenge with the Proto bike. Having taken part in the development I wanted to give you a deep insight together with Pol Tarres to what are the main differences with the Standard Tenere 700 and help you understand who is the ideal user of the Tenere and Tenere World Raid. I explain all the differences and upgrades that have been made on this new Adventure Bike. A new horizon for Rally Raid enthusiasts is opening up with this new bike.

    Helluh' Mr. Yamaha speaking,
I am currently owning a KTM 1190 R. Once a year at my vacation i take my bike along with some positive thinking and start for a big ride. Coming from the Netherlands i always have to go through Germany. Heading to Sweden/Norway or somewhere to the Balkan. Once i get there i am trying to do a lot offroad. Doing this for almost 30 years. Once in the 4 or 5 years i also am doing a larger trip.
Sometimes i am wishing that Germany would not exist.🙈 Not because back in the days my father had a bit of a quarral with them but of the distance you have to ride for passing it. Free time you have to do labour for. So i need a bike that can handle those Autobahn highway as speedy as possible. And also as comfortable as possible. Never have owned cruisecontroll on any of my bikes but it really is on my wishlist.
Once the T7 came out i did a demoride as quick as possible. Not long. Maybe for a hour or so. Like new shoes you sometimes you can't be sure about the fitting and how they will grow on you. It is a small bike compaired to the T7. The whole bike did feel so completely different. But this is going to expected for sure. Besides that it was that you could almost feel that the bike was incredible reliable. Maintaining large engines on ships gives you somewhat of a "fingerspitzengefühl" when feeling the engine.
And also the vibe and sound that this T7 engine is humming out is incredible. I think with certainty that this engine is one of the most reliable engines ever made for a motorcycle. Apart from the BMW K75.
The downside that the T7 had for me was that it is incredible topheavy. And knowing that this becomes even more higher with 40 kg of luggage i decided not to buy the T7. Also a few other minor things like the springs. Back and front. But i knew that in time this was fixable. But to be honest i was so dissapointed with this. It made me almost cry. Cause i instantly knew that this motorcycle is really really reliable. Compairing it with a 1190 R is not really a honest thing to do. But the main reason why i wanted to go to a bike that is more easier to controll while not on the tarmac was not completely satisfied. It would not give me that big advantage.
Riding all day offroad is very exhausting. And the bike you are using for this is besides your phisical strenght the biggest factor in this.
So i let this T7 pass and simply waited. I am lucky because only at a distance of approximately 35 km'ters there is a very good Yamaha dealer called Gebben Motoren. Bought 3 brandnew bikes at that place. And one of them was the Tenere 660Z.
So as soon as it is possible i can do a demoride on your latest model. And i really hope that this World Raid Edition will tick the right boxes better for me.
But still there is something that has to go of my chest. And i think that a lot of other (potential) customers feel the same way.
Why in heavens-name did you guys not fitted out this World Edition with cruise-controll ? I can understand why Yamaha did not do this with the standard and the Rally model. You want a price for the bike as low as possible. But i really think Yamaha should have integrated cruise-control with their World Edition motorcycle. You really should have done this.
I am certain that a lot of potential customers still not are not going to buy it because of the lack of it. For certain people having cruise control is simply a must. Will this be possible as an option delivered by Yamaha in the near future.
Or is Yamaha so sure about the future ? That there will be a real shortness for certain electronics ? And that this is the sole reason why Yamaha has taken this root with the T7 ?
I would not find it even unwise cause if this would be the case most other brands are in real trouble. And also their customers. Having a bike in their garage with electronic problems that can't be resolved. KTM would have a big problem for instance.
I hope that doing a demoride will surprice me completely in a positive way. So positive that it weights the balance for lacking cruice control. With this price it should have had it.
Thanks for helping build the T7 World Edition. No thanks if you are the one that did hold back on having cruise control on the T7.🙈
    Greetings from the Netherlands,👍👍
(That small country besides Germany and filled with Dutch people who want to pass Germany as quick as possible with the help of cruise control)

Like you i also want your question being answered. I also hated this on my xt660z. In the Netherlands we have regulations and we are simply told that when your frame breaks (how minor it is) your totall bike is wrecked. And is not allowed to ride anymore.
So going offroad is you taking an enormous risc.

It reminds me of the era when the Dutch were taxed on the basis of their window size and number (so most houses ended up having small/less or boarded up windows). I guess, Dutch citizens make quite gullible victims for statists/professional politicians (aka parasites). Now they are confiscating your land because of the "climate crisis". Best video of the WR yet. I have a normal T7 with closed cartridges and also the Tractive rear shock. I'm wondering if I should sell my bike and get a WR.
Main problem is my height, 170cm. I barely reach the ground on the standard T7 and I travel off-road in tracks like the TET with arround 25kg of luggage on the rear. I find myself having to pass through hard sections with technique and inertia without the possibility of paddling with the legs, cause I would fall down do to not reaching with both legs. It is exhausting.

The World Raid suspensions are different from the standard Ténéré. I really need to know if it's coming to the US.
As soon as I get the word, I'll find a nearby dealership to put a deposit on one.
I don't know if it's a good idea, but this will be my first Adventure bike.
I was just shopping around for a used bike, but after researching what's available in the market for adventure types of bikes and wow, I immediately fell in love with the Yamaha Tenere T7.
On my wish/ dream list is to do, go on adventures with some friends of mine from here Texas to Canada, camp along, And experience a long journey on the road sightseeing, etc.
This is coming from someone who had no idea about adventure bikes I was looking at some Honda, KTM, BMW, and Suzuki I wasn't even thinking Yamaha, after a few weeks of researching the T7, they announced "Yamaha Tenere 700 World Raid" but no news on the US release.
After finding out the world rate is coming out, I'm holding off, because I prefer the Yamaha looks and that long-distance tank and the price really set the bar high on my list of purchases, otherwise if there's no news on the release date soon then I'll go with the Honda..

It’s probably just a small link that would not communicate fast enough while fueling up with one filler cap. Same as the KTM 950/990

      @ManuelLucchese1  2 года назад +5

The reason is for quicker filling but not only, if it had been a 1 unique big tank with that empty volume what happens is the fuel shakes a lot and the tanks would not breathe enough ending up with vapour lock. So the decision of twin tanks is also for the riding where you don't want a big mass of fuel shaking from one side to the other making riding difficult

Hi all. I will speak to you in all sincerity.
I don't get a point of view on a motorcycle by looking at Paul Tarres or you or any other rider on the T 700 Teneré.
If you want to confirm the choice of the new T 700 Teneré entrust me with this bike on a long test loaded in solo off-road travel mode. (luggage, tent, tools, etc.)
I have had the T 700 Teneré since July 31, 2019. I have a very average driving level. but I mainly use it off road. and often alone. (so no one to help me)
Yamaha should have released a new lighter model and there we see "a new" higher heavier motorcycle and off road it is anything but good overweight. the original quality of the shock absorbers is really poor in off road. Yamaha should have thought a little longer about the orientation it wants to give to this bike.
I'm not sure what the success of the 1st model is... higher... heavier... more expensive... more more equals fewer customers.

it's not a matter of trust. I don't question your talents as preparers, mechanics and drivers. Are you talking about the future Word raid T 700 Teneré model?
Is this motorcycle intended for the general public? yes
so once again Yamaha got the wrong voice. It is necessary to seek to lighten the motorcycle and to gain in quality of damping.
We must not confuse rally use, which is also prepared according to the terrain and the driver, and general public use.
I can assure you that a fallen 220 kg motorcycle like the Word T 700 is more difficult to raise than a 204 kg T 700. it is an indisputable fact. You can do rallies as many times as you want, it won't matter. the motorcycle is rewarding more beautiful but ultimately less effective for general public off-road adventure travel use.
