- This was my first shooting of the Spot Hogg Fast Eddie XL sight in and it was very easy to sight this new Spot Hogg Fast Eddie XL in! All I needed was to tune my bow and then level the sight 2nd and 3rd axis and the Spot Hogg Fast Eddie XL was ready to sight in at 20 and then at 60 yards.
I tried to capture the whole process of sighting your Spot Hogg Fast Eddie XL. Its very easy it just takes some time to do.
Thanks for watching Spot Hogg Fast Eddie XL sight in and please like, subscribe and share!! -

One of the better performed Fast Eddie sight set ups I have watched
Thanks man, its an older video before I got a good camera, Ive thought about remaking it with better quality.
@@MichiganGreatOutdoors The other videos I have watched regarding the setup for the Fast Eddie get confusing. It makes me wonder if they watch it first before posting it. You do a good job.
I have one on the way and just saved your video! Great stuff! Thank you!

Great video, thanks!

Thank you and thanks for watching!!
Good advice on Taking Your Time. Your sighting-in shots have to be precise at 20 and 60. If the weather isn’t optimum, you’re fatigued or if you’re simply not shooting your best that day, the results will be inaccurate. STOP! All of these things could lead to your selecting the wrong sight tape, and result in increased frustration and, perhaps, missing a big buck or elk.
So, sighting-in isn’t a project to take-on the day prior to a hunting trip or before a big 3D tournament. While it can be done on relatively short notice if needed, a lot of things have to be perfect, and they rarely are, to ensure proper alignment of your yardages.
Yeah absolutely! Im actually making a new sight tape now and taking my time again. Ill make a tape over several days again and follow the same process!
That’s an incredible group you have at 60, I’m having a hell of a time getting mine sighted in After a ton of shooting
I cant lie, it took me forever to get this group that tight. I have for the last 2 years focused harder and harder at my lonng range shooting now I can pretty much make a sight tape in 1 day. It takes a lot of practice and a fully tuned bow. Good luck
Nice video
Thank you!
I am getting mine with the 3 pin housing as well. Do I sight it in using the single pin then just switch the housing? Or am I supposed to sight in using the 3 pins? Thank you for the great video on this sight.
I haven't done much research on the 3 pin configuration, im sure there are some other videos on RUclips for this. Sorry
I watched your video so as you are walking back are you adjusting your 30,40,50 pin as well? And is your 20 your floater or you 60. In Arizona just bought same sight and struggling. Thank u
its a single pin, I just keep rolling the wheel and walking it back to 60. Sorry it took 5 months to respond. did you figure it out?
So sighting in if I have a double stack sight I should you the top pin all the way out to 60 yards?
For the double pin? Yes. Thats what I did
When are you adjusting left or right. I understand at 20 and 60 you need elevation just right in order to determine correct sight tape but when and how do you adjust horizontally.
loosen the windage knob and Clockwise moves the pin left.
Counter-clockwise moves the pin right.
Great Video and impeccable shooting. I'm also in the market for a spot hogg Fast eddie XL double pin. I'm curious what your experience has been using the second pin. Is the second pin accurate moving the site up and down? For example when your top pin is set to 20 do you find the bottom pin accurate to 30? 30 and 40? 40 and 50? my experience with individual pin adjustment on multi pin sights is the drop is not always the same amounting in different distances between pins. Thanks in advance!
To be perfectly honest it was accurate to 55 yards, and I never tried it past that. It was 13 yards gap between the 2 pins. If I just shot over 55 it would be the top pin. The sight is badass IMO. I really like it, I might make a new video when I get my new bow in a few weeks. Thanks for watching!
@@MichiganGreatOutdoors I appreciate the honesty. I understand now that the site tape takes into account the difference from top pin to bottom pin when sighting in and it isn't necessarily a 10 yard increment, makes a lot of sense. I'm looking forward to your next video, thanks for the quick reply!
This spot hog has two pointers top and bottom what’s the bottom for is it for the bottom pin
yes
So if you do this will the second pin work with the tape? Or is there more calibration involved to get the second pin as well?
If you follow this procedure correctly then the second pin will hit where its marked on the tape yes. Obviously you want to double check by shooting with the second pin and confirming accuracy. Thanks for watching!!
When you are figuring out your yardage from 20 to 60 before you put the yardage tape on how do I know how far to roll the sight each time to get the 30,40,50,60
I just guesstimate it and slowly walk back while rolling the dial. Once you do it a few times its really easy. Just make sure you have a big target or a good back stop.
S.W.A.G. it
When you are doing the walk back of yardage, are you just sighting in the top pin on the calibration tape?
Yes
Bottom pin just falls into place if your presice in your 20 and 60 yard groups
@@MichiganGreatOutdoors Thanks. I hope to get it sighted in one of these days. We live in a subdivision and no safe place to shoot there. The local archery club is about $120 a year to shoot there.
I hope I don't sound like an idiot but I'm completely new at this. Once you do this, then you can freely move around the remaining pins you have (if you have say a 3 pin like I do) so you don't have to move the sight up and down correct? If so, how can you make your bottom pin be the pin that you use when moving the sight up and down? I hope I make sense.
Im not sure, I run the 2 pin. If calibrated correctly, it works everytime.
@@MichiganGreatOutdoors Thanks for your answer. So can you have the bottom pin set at say 40 yards and still be your "floating pin" or do you completely lose your floating pin to any set distance? Sorry, still trying to understand it all
The sight in the video has 2 pins, when you roll the sight they both move but the sight has 2 pointers. As long as everything is calibrated correctly it you can roll the top pine to 100 yards if you want. Some of the spot hog MRT series sights work differently. The fast eddie xl 2 pin uses the 2 pointers which correlate to the sight tape you create when you do the calibration procedure.
@@MichiganGreatOutdoors you just made everything more clear. So if I'm understanding correctly, once you do everything you did in your video, you use the top pointer and move it to whatever yardage you need to take your shot at on your tape right?
Does your mathews arrow web quiver work with that dovetail sight mount or does it get in the way? I just ordered the XL and hadnt thought of that until watching this video?
The factory mathews quiver I own had no issues with clearance at all. Im not sure which model it is and im not home to check right now.
@@MichiganGreatOutdoors good to know.. that's the exact quiver I have and I'm asking about. Thanks for the info👌
@@ryanbenedict2021 sure thing bud!
Bro, how do I micro adjust the 2nd and 3rd axis, please?
I took mine to a bow shop, I dont own any levels.
I need your help. I’m shooting 70lbs with 28 DL. I end up with #12 tape. I dial it down but can only get to 70 yards before arrow vanes hitting the housing. I’m using double pin XL
Im wondering if you didn't start with the housing all the way up? What vanes u running? You on IG or FB? Send me a message and ill try to help.
Michigan Great Outdoors I’m running blazer 2inches. I started with my bar all the way up. My 20 yards sighted in right at the bar flush up top. I’m thinking maybe my peep sight is low? I’m measuring 6” from my middle nock point to peep.
I am left handed and the only pin size they make for lefty's that I can find are .029 do you thing that is to big to shoot at far ranges?
If it was me I'd call Spot Hogg and see what they offer. That doesn't make sense to me. I see some listed online actually.
Michigan Great Outdoors I found a .019 On lancasterarchery.com. It should be coming in pretty soon. Thank you for the information on how to sight it in!!
Did you find your grouping tighter up with a dovetail sight? I was considering the same sight but don’t think I can group my arrows that tight at 60
Hey! Thanks for the comment! Yes, I 100% think my shooting accuracy has increased due to having that dove tail and the sight being out further from the bow. I had to go with a smaller peep sight but it has made a world difference. Also as I said in the video it took me five days to get that group at 60 of which I shot hundreds of arrows to achieve that, honestly best group of my life!
Ill also add that the dovetail has increased my accuracy a ton and I aint gonna lie sighting in at 60 is tuff.... real tuff but man it makes you shoot at 30 so much better!! I hit 30 yards like its a chip shot all day now!
Awesome. Thanks for the reply. I think I’m gonna go with a 3 pin slider just so I won’t have to make any unnecessary movements adjusting my sight when I go out west within 40-50 yards.
@@baghalman awesome man! Good luck!!
@@GeLeeOutdoors interesting tip!
Hey i am struggling big time at 60 yards - does the 20 and 30 yard hack work ?? Or 20 and 40 ?
I believe there is a fellow on RUclips that made a 20 and 40 yard sight in video. Just search fast eddie xl and it will pop up. Sorry I could be of more help!!
I’m sighting in my left and rights/ups and down I got my left and rights dialed in but my ups and downs is missing by an inch or two what can I do to fix this or is it not a big deal?
sounds like maybe its just inconstancy?
@@MichiganGreatOutdoors inconsistency ?
Hey man quick question did you have room when your elevation was on 100 yards before your scope hit arrow? I’m about to sight it in and my housing is set about at the center was wondering if I should move housing up 1 hole
I can shoot about 107 yards before I contact my arrow, but I flip the arrow and have the cock vane down too.
@@MichiganGreatOutdoors ok so if I can shoot atleast 100 before housing contacts arrow I should be ok?
@@anthony4553 flip the arrow rest up and see if it will make contact
@@MichiganGreatOutdoors yes I meant after the 100 yards mark if I can clear that while rest is flipped up and house clears arrow I’m ok?
Yes, just be careful, I wouldn't wanna slap an arrow into your rest!
Whats the length on your Bstinger?
Its 8 1/2 inches!
How did you get the max windage out of the sight? Having trouble getting enough clearance
Windage or elevation? I started with my sight up as high as possible so I could roll the dial down
@@MichiganGreatOutdoors ya I meant elevation. Did you have to move the actual bracket at all or did you keep it in the middle position. I’m talking about the elevation bracket with the 2 vertical set screws
@@kevinrummel4676 lemme go check
I just checked mine. Im in the middle. Are you running really heavy arrows? Mine are 518 grain total out of a 81lb bow. I can shoot 113 yards max but I have to flip my cock vane down.
Would it be possible to zero at let’s say 30 or 40 to get passed 100 to 120? Or does it mess everything up? Or does it run out of travel at 100?
Im think if you wanna shoot past 100 you have to add a mark under the second pin and also the top of the bubble. Im not 100% sure as I can only shoot 80 in my yard. Sorry I cant help much.....
Michigan Great Outdoors no that’s great info thank you so much.
@@dad3562 if you thumb through some of Cameron Hanes old RUclips videos he talks about it in one. He was shooting his at like 175 I think.
At what point do you adjust your left and right at the beginning at 20, or was that what you were doing when you where fine tuning at 60?
You can do it whenever IMO. If it doesn't bother you to see the arrows not in the x then do it at 20.
If you wait and fine tune it at 60 will it effect it at 20 or is it just better to do it at 20 while your there to begin with?
@@dylanrogers8460 in my case it didn't. Once I was dialed at 60 I went back to 20 and was dead nuts. Just keep in mind I would recommend having a fully tuned bow if your expecting to get those results. Also I waited to do this one a NO wind day.
It’s freshly tuned I did it at 20 i was mainly asking to see if I had screwed up since in your video you said just focus on elevation so we’re all good haha
@@dylanrogers8460 ok lol gotcha! Best of luck to you in your sight in!!!
What size pins did you get? .019?
Yes, .019 thanks for watching!!
@@MichiganGreatOutdoors great! Thank you!
Did u get ur 3rd axis set up after ur sight in or before?
I did mine before. Just to make sure I had no other issues with sighting in.
@@MichiganGreatOutdoors If you have to adjust the site from left to right does that throw off any of the axis’s?
First axis refers to the level of the mounting bracket itself in relation to the bow. Second axis refers to the level of the sight head and pins. Third axis refers to the pitch of the sight head either away from or towards you, similar to a door hinge.
I dont think it will mess it up since ive dont it this way in the past. I always, mount the bow sight, get everything level. Then sight in pins. Good luck!
@@MichiganGreatOutdoors Thank you for the detailed explanation I appreciate it
Anytime! Hopefully it goes well for you. I think there are some other videos out there on how to level the sight. Im sure if you search for them u can find it. Or take it to a local pro shop for the leveling.
Just yard, or can be Meter as well??
You know what! I have no clue. You might be able to get some meter strips
@@MichiganGreatOutdoors thank you so much for your reply, I will check it out. Kind regards Robert
Can you do the exact same thing but have the bottom pin be your adjustable pin, in other words will it work If you calibrate it the exact same way but when you put your site tape on put it on where your bottom pin is sighted in at? I have a 5 pin but I'm going to take the 4th pin out making it a 4 pin, I'm going to have four pins sighted in at 20, 30, 40, and 50 but I want my bottom pin to be the one that's adjustable so I'm wondering if I can just put the site tape on at the 50 mark...any advice?
I have to be honest with you. I just dont know. Ive called spot hogg in the past and sent them emails and they have been pretty helpful. Id maybe start there, I dont wanna give you the wrong info... Good luck bud!
@@MichiganGreatOutdoors thanks for your comment, I called them and you actually can! Just created a custom four pin and use my bottom pin as the adjustable, it's awesome!
@@jordancurrie1756 thats sick man! Glad u called 🤙🤙
How tight do you want your group at 20 before advancing? Trying to sight mine in now. Thanks !!
Darn near perfect is what I was looking for. Mainly elevation wise. If your left or right u can fix that later.
It seems like some groups are perfect and so are alittle spaced out - my elevation is perfect. It’s hard keeping tight groups.
@@deermuscle2283 yes, sometimes it can be. Make sure you are shooting fresh and rested. By that I mean I tend to shoot better in the morning time. My mind and body is rested and normally free of distractions. It took me about a week to fully sight my sight in and I shot probably close to 1000 arrows to get there. I just wanted to do my best and make sure I was truly dialed in. So far im really impressed by this sight and its ability to shoot consistently at all yardages. Good luck brother!
What is your draw length?
29, The Mathews Creed is a little long so a 29 cam is actually a little bit more like 29 1/2
The only comment I can say is, I haven't been bit once by mosquitos. Even with the pond in the front yard. Sorry it had nothing to do with the sight...
They were tearing me up last night!
