Just wanted to say love the channel and the tips and tricks on the bow MFJJ explains stuff so well and has opened my mind to so many things with my bow
I love my Hogg Father on my V3-31.
However I am running my HHA Tetra with UV3 XL 2 pin scope that is running thru my Bridgelock with short HHA dovetail with Infinite adjust bracket on my V3X 29.
I am loving this set up.
Zero windage issues.
This will be my TAC set up this year.
Possibly for hunting too.
Are you still thinking about using this setup for hunting? I am wondering about the same thing for hunting...what's holding you up? It seems like most people are nervous about using the UV for hunting but love the sight
My guy! your the man I just bought that sight and a lift, hopefully I get it as good as yours.
I have been using Black gold for 17 years they are the best,Thanks for teaching me about the little silver screw that helps!! Good video.
Of course G!
I have an older MBG and was looking at the Spot Hogg. After this I think I will just up grade on my MBG. I have been a single pin for a long time but this two pin is killer. Had not intended to change sights this close to my Elk hunt but Im reconsidering. NICE job.
Sweet video Dan, love the tinkering always nice getting everything fixed up, and nice that u can run the black gold now damn nice sight
i just switched to HHA from spot hogg. using the UV3XL 2 pin for the sight. I really liked my spot hogg, but ive emailed them 3x with no response. decided it was time to try something new! ive had the black gold on order for 3 months and got tired of waiting lol.
I made the same move...only difference was I have a Landslyde on order for about 4 months that was going to be for the UV3XL. Love the HHA Tetra Tournament...only wish the 1st axis was adjustable (especially for the price)!!
i always tie a small constrictor knot above and below my nose button that way it can't move
Patiently awaiting for my dual trac!
I definitely love the rings on the Spot Hoggs way more than BG, but the weight is insane. Not much of a two pin guy but I definitely see it’s perks and wouldn’t mind playing with one. Maybe on the back up bow and see if it makes the cut
13yrs running a Sure~loc sportmans hunter with a single pin its was one of a few back then that had 3rd axis adjustment.
Try a prusik knot on your hamskea instead of the nut and screw to adjust your rest tension. Works great and easily adjust with no tools.
I second this.
Third, have this knot on both my bows now, hate that little football thing lol
Fourth....prusik or Blake's. NEVER use a clamp again!!
Fifth... prusik knot works great!
6th, and I use them for my teepee guy-out lines too!
I had many issues with the clamp on my hamskea. Constantly coming lose and on three occasions had the cord completely slip. I tied a Blake’s hitch and it’s been flawless. Field adjustable, east to tie and one less piece of hardware.
My cord keeps coming loose aswell. I think it's the rubber o ring. I wrapped a small Pease of site tape around my cord so it couldn't loose anymore.
@@blaydenzahner9379 good deal. I’d definitely recommend trying a Blake’s hitch if you keep having problems. I would get play in my launcher arm after about 30 arrows. I’m at 200 with the Blake’s hitch with no movement at all.
I watched a video where MFJJ just yarded the crap out of the string. I did the same and really gave it a working over so to speak of. It’s been tight and hasn’t moved a wink for about 300 shots.
Awesome video! My windage is running out to the left. I’m at the end three lines left on the right hitting middle like that confused.
Sweet, still waiting on my duel trac. Great video, as always
I am just afraid to jack up my bow being so new to everything and still learning archery in general. I need to get a budget bow that I can tinker on and figure things out before messing with the VXR. Plus I am 3hrs from a pro shop so learning is kind of a must. Great content thanks bud.
Just some advice from a successful bowhunter. Get a quality sight, rest, arrows (.003 or better). Stick with that setup for a few years. I know it may be trendy to "ABT" but this can also lead to never getting comfortable in your skills because you always just throw something new on the bow and maybe that is changing the way you shoot or maybe you are just changing the way you shoot. Once you start to feel really good about your form and archery habits and hunting tactics, then I would suggest to start potentially upgrading things that actually matter to you. Just take my advice for what it is...2 cents. Good luck.
@@HuntsT Thanks for the advice. I have the good equipment it is just gaining the knowledge to be able to comfortably mess with things like tying in my own peep sight or d loop. I can't imagine trying to even swap strings out at this point haha. I did not realize how involved bowhunting was when I picked it up 2 yrs ago. I am killing bears already with my bow tho so I am doing something half right lol.
@@jesselost05420 no doubt man. That’s what makes archery fun. It is intricate. If you are mechanically inclined you can definitely learn a lot on RUclips. Since you are so far from a bow shop if you have the money, you may want to look at investing in a press like portable Last Chance Archery Press. If you have quality strings and you take care of them, once you get the bow tuned and timed correctly it shouldn’t move for at least a 1-2 thousand shots. Tying on a D-Loop is pretty easy, there are a few different methods to do it. I tend to like the way Eli Morgan does his. Serving in a peep is also not complicated, but again, this only needs to be done when changing strings. The biggest thing is practice and continue to push yourself out of your comfort zone. I hate losing arrows, but I know if I practice at a far distance or a hard shot, there is a possibility of that happening. That adds pressure much like taking an animal. I have to be ok with the outcome (whatever it is) once I release that arrow. Do that enough times and you will start to build confidence…that’s all you need.
@@jesselost05420 you are smart to not get to into ABT too quick. Couple words of advice. 1. Be very careful checking your draw weight on a scale as it’s easy to derail your string and you won’t care what weight it pulled when that string comes flying off. 2. Do not back your limb bolts out very far and risk having the bolt come flying out and your string, limbs, and cables end up in a big pile on your bench while you say to yourself ……. I wish I never touched this thing. Both from personal experience on a brand new bow that was fine and didnt need to be “tinkered” with
I went to hit the like button and my fat thumb hit the dislike, you tube said “feed back shared with creator” Dan the man I dig these videos and have learned a lot I’m looking to get into tinkering and all your videos help I definitely like this video. Just figured I’d throw that out there.
Awesome two pin sight IMO. For me I would have top pin at 30 yards and try to adjust bottom pin to 40 depending on arrow speed? Or maybe 35 & 45 yards. Mountain country can fool you easy on distances judging as everything is usually up or down.
👍
Dual track Fixed pins vs Triple Stack, no brainer
I'm upgrading my sight to a Black Gold Dual Track this weekend.
ABT....ALWAYS BE TINKERING
Have 3 MBG AND LOVE THEM. GREAT PIN LIGHTING AND VERY DURABLE
I was surprised to receive my Dual Trac inside 12weeks from Black Gold directly when they had to send it to a Canadian Island in the Pacific North West. - Now I’m just waiting on my local to call me that my new bow is ready for building.
That dual trac is cool. Don't think I could part with my multi pin slider. For just target though it looks great
Dude i love the channel. My new V3X 29 is back ordered 12 weeks (5 weeks to go). Ive been doing my research on the sight to order for a few weeks and I finally found a spot hogg fast eddie xl triple stack (I overpaid $430 to my door) and now todays video you are switching it out because its too heavy lol. Hopefully the weight it manageable.
I just got my dual trac and the windage doesn’t tighten the scope to the dovetail tight enough and now I have a TON of slop
I surely hope I do not have to wait another 3-6 months again
To say disappointed is an understatement
Hey Dan videos always good
Great video thanks for sharing!
Do you measure the amount of d-loop material you use to make a loop? I always recommend that to keep the feel of the DL the same 32nd can make the bow feel long or short. In regards to the BG do you have to use that allen wrench to unlock the vertical and horizontal travels? I like the scope better than everything out! Black Gold needs a rail system for the slider and non allen micro lock/unlock and I would love one. Every other top manufacture has a rail system now. Just much more robust. That allen issue we send more MBG back for stripped bolts than all other manufactures combined and my issue with them. The Dual Track scope legit!
I did the same thing got rid of my Spot Hogg and got myself a MBG Pro Sight
I loved my black gold sight untill it broke never used one after that.
Which BG sight did you have and what broke? Thx !!
I was at a shoot last year, one guy had his break where the housing and dovetail section is….the other (who is a popular gear reviewer) saw that his was in the process of breaking in the same spot.
@@Ridgerunner_802 ...Thanks Erick,..what're runnin' now?
@@lanetaglio HHA Tetra….I stepped away from HHA to try the Spot Hogg and wasn’t overall happy with it. I think HHA makes a better product.
Yes! 💪🏼💪🏼💪🏼
Great video, can not wait to get my dual trac. Supposed to ship in July...urghh
BAP Pro shop vise is the way to go.
Great content guys!
Always quality information 🇺🇲👌🏻
Really dig the home shop videos!
Thanks G!
If you don’t want the temptation of using it again, I’ll take it
Quick question, change one thing...change it all. Why would you do all this before you change the cables? Why not change the cables first, shoot some arrows through it to have them settle in, then do all this so you are not ABT more than you have to?
Yea Awsome sight . Shitty part is I can’t get me hands on one like you can.
Gotta love a knife that looks cool when you open it 😎
Mr Tinks- with how in line that bow is, have you ever tried out a Quivalizer? Amazing stability in the shot and infinity adjustable. It may be a good way to shave a few more ounces.
I'd personally find that to be super annoying for hiking in the woods. Ugh drive me nuts I'd think, plus the amt of weight you would need on the back end to offset it.
Just get a garmin.. One and done..best sight hands down.
Very informative but nothing battery operated on bow except for nocks in WA 😕
Product review idea: the new Redline Torch for one of your crew and review it.
I was just thinking about switching back to black gold, I have the spot hog triple stack and it's heavy!
Heavy for sure
Nice sight and informative video..👍🏻✌🏻
Text telegram... I haven't been selected to win.. because I know them and I haven't won anything .
So are ya glad you made the change?? Bout to buy a v3x 33 and have been struggling to pick a sight!
E-S, Gre8 info! Let them Rip!!
I knew the triple stack wouldn’t last, that thing is HEAVY. I wanted to like mine, but it was definitely a tank. Running the Landslyde now with a Shrewd Optum and loving it.
Not everyone is a sissy lol. It isn't any heavier than a five pin fast eddy.
@@matthewkyle6939 not everyone needs 5 pins
@@adamyoder1 well then get a sissy sight then lol
@@adamyoder1 lol you must be one of those hard-core tree stand white tail hunters lol.
Why is it referred to as 1st, 2nd 3rd axis and not pitch, yaw. And roll?
Hey buddy, I freaking love your content! Great information, entertaining, and easy to digest!! Here, I think you may have tied your d loop in backwards. Top knot was facing away on the one you cut off and facing you on the one you tied. I've always heard that having the top knot facing away is more forgiving for hand held releases. Old wive's tale?
Great video and ABT! quick question/request, could you do a video about 3rd axis adjustment at full draw and with a jig? Was debating with a friend who says full draw isn't necessary. thanks again for all your info and hard work.
I bleave they already have a video out for 3rd axis.
John, IMO, using a vise is a good starting point THEN at full draw with a buddy. Your form will derail what your vise dialed it in as...it may not. Always set third axis with whatever accessories you have and / or plan on shooting with attached to your bow. Especially a loaded quiver, less one arrow. Just my thoughts. Cheers.
Thanks. I did the vise and then full draw to check my 3rd axis but wanted to make sure since my sight is slightly titled right.
@John Pham .. No problem, not gonna get into too much here because it's tough to explain in words...but when you say tilted right...you mean bubble is right side of level at full draw? Or in the vise? Keep in mind that 1st/2nd should be dialed in first (using a vise and proper levels) and NOT adjusted again unless the bow is dropped or to much tinkering. Lol. Sounds like you're on the right track. Cheers
Take down Dan lol those boys better be crossing there T s and dotting there I s lol
YUP
Really excited to see how you like this sight! Do you tend to like 0.019 pins or 0.01 or mix of both for long range hunt and 3D?
This Chanelle rocks if I ever comment on any videos don't take it personal I know we all have our way or the way we were taught to do things . So if you see a comment saying you turdards just laugh 😆 cause I was you definitely open up the long distance shots for us east coast guys I shoot comp also hunt with archery equipment compound trad/recurve . For my target rig I practice out to 110 so I also do with my hunting setup there is alot you can do to make those bomb groups shrink
Are you still sticking with the Dual Trac or are you running the spot hogg PM?
Constrictor knot for your nose button AND your nock sets. They will never move on you!!
Just saw you did the constrictor on your nose button, surprised this came loose, maybe more wraps like 5-6?
Why is it illegal to use a sight light ?
idk but black gold cant match spot hogg in durability -
i dropped my bow from about 25 feet and the Tommy hogg got bent about half inch ro the left right by the wheel-wasn't sure what to do as it wasnt fair to use warranty- after a few days got and idea and put a sight in a wise and used a rubber mallet to bend it back -been using it ever since for about 4 years with no issues
I was really disappointed when black gold came out with the dual track. I felt like they really dropped the ball by not adding a third pin to it so I ended up ordering a triple stack, it’s a heavy beast 95% of my hunting is done out of a tree stand so weight isnt as important to me as western guys.
Even out west its not "too" heavy for packing unless you load your bow down with stabilizer weight and what not.
My pro sight dial of death rides very close to my micro unjust knob and it annoys me because it is impossible to fully grip the elevation dial. It looks like yours does the same.
Thx for all the great videos you guys make, but could you tell the cameraman to make the focus on the things you make, it´s often blurried ;) but we always get a nice clear look at your biceps :D Love you guys, you´re making the best videos :))))
Noted!
By only turning 1 end of your string to get your peep lined up wouldnt that mean your either takiing out or putting in a twist ?
Hence shortenimg or lengthimg yout string ?
Dont you wamt to do both 1 end one way the other end the oposit to keep your strimg lenth in specs
I'm only one of many of thousands of archers, I have my opinion about various pieces of the given archery tackle, I'll probably never find out why the hootershooter machine device that never should have been priced over $500 ,but for all the sources that I have seen, the hootershooter started at $1500-1700 , I have an aluminum book on an aluminum company, I priced their aluminum for the possible pieces that would have been needed to make the hootershooter, and with out factory production labor costs, the hootershooter could be made for about $300-400 ,,,and the last thing I know about, is that spothogg pick it up, and spothogg has had it priced as high $2500/$3000, now depending on your own personal tricks of tuning your bow , everyone has their own opinion about this n that, but you compare the price of $350 to $2500 ,I've seen several other hootershooters
That some private home archers have made from their own efforts, I could go further but I think I'll leave at that
Eeww spot Hogg ftw
Lol
What is that rattling sound coming from your bow when you shot?
Had a question about your podcast and this was the only place I knew to ask. Why do you still advertise for on x? I know a while back you had someone from basemap on your podcast telling how much greater it is than on x. Just curious if you changed your mind?
Great video. I keep throwing around changing to a vertical pin slider. Just don’t know if I’ll like the change.
How are you getting peep twist with MFJJ’s premier string??
Put that on a kracker!
Will you guys be at TX TAC?
I’m trying to figure out what size peep to buy . Do I need a 1/8 or 3/16 . I have trophy ridge react one an I have a 30” draw. Any pointers would help thank you
What string leveling tool are you using? I didn’t see it on your sight.
Podium archer string level
@@ElkShape thank you! Love the videos y’all are making. It’s helping me tons.
As someone who hunts out of ground blinds, I'm not sure I like the way Black Gold does the sight light. Am I correct in thinking that whole photochromatic shell on top lights up emitting a bright glow on every side? Concerened deer or elk would see that sitting in a dark ground blind. Also concerened that would throw off you own eyesight with a bright light up close, constricting your pupils and not letting in enough light in those final minutes of legal light. What has your experience been?
The photochromnatic shell will turn dark purple in bright sunlight witch prevents the halo/blurring that can sometimes happen in bright sunlight. It does not emit a bright glow or light at all. I have been using Black Gold sights for years. I have tried many different sights and the Black Gold pins are the brightest and sharpest pins I have ever seen on a sight.
@@cwilson80 Yep I understand all of that and how it functions in bright sunlight, but that is not what I am asking. I'm asking how it functions when you turn on a sight light sitting in a dark ground blind. Especially when it's also low light outside. Seems like the sight light is going to light up that shell and animals will be able to see it shining perhaps?
@@KA-lm6sp Got it…sorry for the misunderstanding. I have never tried a sight light with my Black Gold. Only thing I can say is one early morning sitting on a ridge at sunrise I could see my pins clearly in very low light while my two buddies (one had a Spot Hogg and the other had a Trophy Ridge) could not see there pins very well until the sun came up a little more. I know this probably doesn’t help answer your question but just my 2 cents. Good luck and good hunting!
You ever tinker with a quivilizer?
Did black gold make the dual track yardage dial move a bit easier. I have had my spot hog freeze up and not move in cold temps. Just curious how smooth the black gold is to move.
Looks like we have a fake account trying to scam me in the comments section.
Sad to see the downgrade in sights. Hopefully it doesn't break on you.
Black gold is by far an upgrade! Best sight I’ve ever had!
@@fischerhobbs1732 Have you shot the triple stack?
@@onlyaftermeat Yes, I’ve had both, and went with black gold!
@@fischerhobbs1732 sorry to hear that. Hopefully it holds up for you. Good luck this year.
What the heck they’re both top notch hunting sights
What size pin did you go with?
Where is this micro adjust for the first axis coming from? I have a dual track and don’t have that micro adjust nor did it come with either dovetail I bought that is comparable with the bridge lock.
Correct I’m an idiot and when I switched to the dovetail I didn’t select that mount and used the one included on the dovetail. Thanks for the video as I would have never recognized that I didn’t put that on
Yeah... I'm pretty sure spothogg makes the best sights out there. Just saying.
Where can I get that string level?
U still couldn’t get enough windage with the triple stack even with there new Mathew’s bracket for the extra windage? Just curious cause I have one on order from my local shop but if I’m not going to get enough windage even with the extra bracket then no sense in getting it lol.
The new bracket gives you plenty of windage. It costs around $40 shipped from Spot Hogg. You just have to call them. Be sure to make sure you get your 3rd axis dialed in after you install the bracket.
Thank you. I was worried I might have wasted $400 haha. Good to no it will work. Thanks again.
I running a black gold on my v3 31 and I’m getting a rattle maybe it’s my first axis thing rattling. What you think?
Make sure after you set your pins and tighten allen screws on your adjustments you run the knobs all the way till tight. The little pin knobs will rattle if you don't tighten them after adjustment. I currently have a rattle on mine because I have a tiny bit of slop on the up and down gear connection. I'll have to send it in to have that fixed. I have the 3 pin bg ascent verdict.
Check all of the micro adjust screws. They need to be snug or you will hear/feel some vibration.
Yeah check all the screws - or look at other parts of bow
@@rudykjr7689 I had the same issue! You are absolutely right!
My glow ring on the housing cracked and that's what was causing my rattle.
Spot hogg giveaway??
Where can I find the sight mount for the v3 x?

@@MT-jw8uu I didn’t see it on there. I’m sure sva will have it as well

Every time I shoot, the wale tail Pinches/slaps my webbing on my hand.
Super annoying.
Am I the only one experiencing this with this set up?
