GMC's Sierra Refresh Makes For The Best Truck In America | 2022 GMC Sierra Denali Ultimate

  • When the 5th generation Sierra launched in 2019, we were all surprised by the interior.....which barely changed over the previous model. Well, for 2022 GM has more than made up for that with an all-new interior that leapfrogs the competition and a new range-topping Denali Ultimate trim. More real wood and leather, bigger screens, and massaging front seats, the Denali Ultimate is more than just the ultimate Sierra, it's the ultimate half-ton truck. At least for now...

    I may be wrong(don't think so) but the hitch receiver now has a switch that prevents the tailgate from coming down and hitting the tail gate if the ball is inserted.

    19:14 "To be honest, I would choose the base 3 l turbo diesel" - That depends on where you live, Alex. In California where you are (and where I was until recently), regular unleaded is crazy high, but the premium to step up to diesel is not huge. In Florida, where I am now, it's the opposite universe, the regular unleaded is reasonable, but the premium to step up to diesel is crazy high. Examples from autoblog gas prices, where you are, today unleaded is @ $6 on average, diesel is $6.40. In my area (Southwest FL) regular unleaded is @ $4.30, diesel is $5.70. So, you have a 7% premium on diesel over regular unleaded, and I have 25%.

    • @PeakDecline
      @PeakDecline 2 года назад +3

      Even with the 25% price gap you're talking about I bet the diesel comes out cheaper on fuel. The fuel economy difference is absolutely massive. Where you'll probably break even at is on the diesel oil changes. DEF is another cost but realistically it's just not that much. If the gap ever shrinks or if you have to consider premium gas (the suggested gas for the 6.2L) versus diesel the diesel is going to be cheaper in the long run. Plus you get other fringe benefits like longer times between fuel stops and longer ranges per tank.

    Thanks for this great review! I'm planning on stepping down from my 2018 GMC Sierra Denali HD 6.6 Durmax to the 2023 Sierra Denali Ultimate 3.0 LZ0. I usually tow around 6500lbs (includes my aluminum V Nose 8 x 26' cargo trailer). I love everything about the Ultimate but, am concerned about suspension, rear end, etc.. I wouldn't want sagging, side to side and/or braking issues. I also see that the Max Towing package isn't available which has me that much more concerned. I've been looking for the suspension and rear end spec's but, haven't found them yet. I'm not concerned about the power & torque of the 3.0 and it would certainly raise my current mpg by far. Would you say that the comfort and quietness is comparable to the Denali HD? Thanks again..... Looking forward to more reviews on this Ultimate. 👍😊

If you want to enlighten your viewers about a truck's quality, review the mid-level trim and then tell us if you think it's the best.

      Toyota could've just made the 3UR-FE into a 3UR-FSE with D4-S direct and port injection that would easily give it over 400 hp. The 1UR-FSE 4.6L V8 in the Lexus LS makes 380 hp, so the 5.7L V8 would easily beat its competition in the segment. That engine would still be way less complex than the brand new 3.4L TT V6.

    GM's full size pickups outsold Ford's and Stellantis' in 2020,2021 and Q1 2022, even with the "dreadful" interior. Go figure.

    Great review..... but why would anyone want a Frankenstein's Monster Cylinder Deactivation Engine??? The sliding camshaft cannot be reliable, long term..... too complex.... and, the MPG is horrible, so the Cylinder Deactivation is a fruitless endeavor. GM is WAY overpriced compared to the competition.... they increase the MSRP to make up for their never ending 'incentives'.... problem is; with Biden's supply chain debacle that has been essentially ignored, a shopper cannot negotiate at all anymore and is forced to pay hyper-inflationary MRP sticker prices + for autos. Thanks a lot, China Joe.... you incompetent boob. Plus.... why would someone invest in a combustion engine, when high range electric vehicles are being pushed down our throats....and are right around the corner??? What will gas prices be once EV's take over? $10-$15 gallon??? Socialists have said for years their goal is to make gas prices so high that people will be forced to embrace the tree-hugger 'green' tech of the day.... no matter how impractical it is.

    The 'topographic map' styling on the seats and dash just look stupid. Plus, you will have to try and explain what it is every single time a new person in the truck asks about it. They won't understand it either. Also, how much does someone have to pay to get a door panel with soft touch materials all the way to the bottom of the door? GM cannot seem to offer this no matter how ' premium' the vehicle may be and no matter the cost of the vehicle. Maybe a better trimmed interior will be found in the 'Super Denali Ultra Concour Unlimited Plutonium Edition'.

    Too many GM designed gozmos in Denali version or upgrades as they call it, it is destined to fail. Way too expensive, no proper financing options, and very difficult to deal type dealer. Many thing can go wrong with this new model design and don't forget, it is GM so not up in quality department either. I'm good with my F150 Lariat, 99.9% things still working seamlessly as they should. Thanks for the review.

    "Hands down" while having the least comfortable seats for long drives, no massaging seats, no rear ventilated seats and still a single pane traditional sunroof. Also, a pricey subscription service is required to maintain the top infotainment features and use of the app. Seems like hyperbole gone wild. The top trim Ram and F-150 interiors still rate over this, IMO.

      You certainly tried hard to make this loaded Sierra seem unappealing but *failed* miserably. How do you manage to still be so unaware of what the truck actually offers after the reviewer went over literally every single option? I know how. You were so triggered that you didn’t even bother to watch the review.
      I’ve never heard anyone complain about how uncomfortable the seats in a Sierra Denali or AT4 are, neither have you. No panoramic sunroof is what allows class leading rear seat head room - you forgot to mention that. Are you under the impression that GM is the only manufacturer that requires subscriptions in order to use connected on the go services? Are you seriously this dense?. Also, what makes GM’s subscription services worse than competitors? Do you believe the customer ordering a $85,000 GMC Yukon or Sierra is going to be turned away by a subscription fee for the full experience of their Google infotainment systems? Who do you think is the target buyer for this truck? Not the guy who drives a Ridgeline. FOH.
