your video just helped me so much. and saved me $300. i’m a girl and just changed my spark plugs. great video!
Chica , if yoh ever see something wrong with your car try RUclips first , then look up things called forrums for example “2017 ford focus se shaking forum “ and it’s people who have similar propels or questions and they have solutions. And advice most of the time , but RUclips is always great if it seems to hard or expensive or crazy the. Go to Mexhanic but it’s worth it befor you go and then if you do go to mechanic you won’t get bull shitted cuz you know what’s up
I’m a girl watching for the same reason. Wish me luck!’ Do I have to disconnect my battery beforehand?
@@abes2758same
@abes2758 it's a good idea to disconnect the battery first. Heads up, though. The power windows will need to be reset after reconnecting the battery.
Great job
Love watching these videos. Thanks for the awesome content and being so in depth!
I love how you go about a job, you make me feel I can do the job too. I know you are a real mechanic, as I am a weekend warrior. Thanks!!
Thanks for the detailed video and step by step instructions! Tools listed was a god send!
Must say I love watching your videos bud! Very informative and always explaining everything even the little things great job sir!
Thank You!
Great video! I like how you stress the use of Motorcraft plugs as I have seen people have so many issues with those aftermarket designer plugs with dishonest marketing.
I'll never understand people who don't follow oem standards.
OMG, I died when he started to blow the air around with the holes wide open. I was like why didn't you clean it first! Lol
Thank you for the info about the dielectric grease and antiseize.
Probably the most thorough and well done tutorial I've seen for this with Ford Focus.
Hey My Man congratulations You just made an excellent tutorial job I'm subscribing now, Thank You.
I agree with you about using "feel" or 1/16 to 1/8 of a turn once bottomed out when you tighten the spark plugs but for those that are fussy and want to use a torque wrench, the OE specification is 11 ft-lbs or 132 inch-lbs max torque. Also, for those of us that don't have an air compressor and air wand we can use a shop vac or your wife's or mom's vacuum cleaner (just don't get caught) to suck up dirt and debris. Very informative video with no cussing so young and old can view it as well as being able to use it in a classroom setting. Good job A+
😂😂😂 wife's vacuum cleaner😂😂
Great video and I can't stress enough about sticking with Motorcraft plugs. A friend of mine has a 2013 Focus and he went with alternative plugs and starting having misfires.
Ford plugs are made in Japan by NGK
Glad I just got the double platinum motor craft plugs OEM
Made what already is a pretty simple job really easy. As if I had done it before on the Focus. No surprises.
Thanks
best spark plug replacement video on youtube
Thank you sir! Took about 20 minutes and all went well.
Very detailed and thorough instructions. Thank you!
Good job brian! Can't wait until you travel around the U.S. (touring around america) and head over to California.... It would be nice to see you and give you some side projects. Thanks for your videos! Great job!!!
This definitely helps since I'm about to buy a 2007 Fusion 2.3 liter engine. I also own a 2010 Mercury Milan v6 and it is a pain to tune up due to the removal of practically half of the top of the engine just to do the back half of the spark plugs. Would be great if you could post that video as I have trouble with that half all the time.
Awesome easy video. Done it a million times but this was a great refresher. Have the 2.0 escape as opposed to a focus but principals etc are the same as I have the equivalent engine. Albeit it more horsepower. Rofl
I noticed your comment on using only Motorcraft plugs. I used iridium plugs in our ranger edge at 60k miles. Now at 79k I got a code PO304. (Piston 4 misfired). I also changed coils and cables at 60k. BTW, the check engine light is not there any longer; but, idle is a little rough.. thanks for the tip! Will change plugs to Motorcraft first, before any troubleshooting.
Thanks for the tips. My spark plugs are NKG iridium!!! :)
Did my 2013 fusion 2.0 with 98,000 miles. It idles smoother now.
Very helpful! Just changed mine out using this vid man thanks a lot!
Thxs for the vid...just changed mine today awesome video
Thanks, this was an easy to follow instructional video.
Thanks for this @FordTechMakuloco, you 'da Man!
I use Autolite XP Iridium regularly on my 2013 Ford Focus Titanium and I haven't had any problems.
thanks good to know
See exactly??!! Same here. It’s made by Mazda not sure why he is claiming it as a ford engine. That’s the reason these cars can go so long is because it has a reliable Japanese built motor but a German trans.........
Autolite is also a Ford used product line.
Great video
Very professional, sir. Many thanks.
Excellent video... I'm doing mine step by step minus the air compressor. Don't have one of those.
Super helpful video, man! Appreciate it!
Thanks for the great how to. I have a question about Sparkplug's for my 04 mach1. My question is I installed NGK plugs and now I am planning on buying granatlli ignition coils should I keep the NGKs in or use the motorcraft plugs??? Thanks
Super helpful information, thank you. Side note: Amazon claims the SP535 plug does not fit my 2013 Focus. I know that it does as this is the plug currently in there and what all of the manuals call for. I never trust Amazon with these automotive specifications, they are rarely correct.
Does runing a wider gape spark plug than recomanded spec kill boost level?? For example if plugs spe should be at 00.026 but there at 00.031?
I think those have been updated by Ford to the SP550
Nice video, dude. Could you please explain to us how to replace the timing belt / serpentine belt on a Ford Focus Titanium?
thanks for the video you saved me money but i have question what are those 2 things with the purple clips .?
Thanks for another great video! Was the engine hot, warm, or cold when you replaced the plugs. I've almost always read that plugs are changed cold on aluminum heads.
Thank you for the awesome and detailed video! Very helpful!
I usually also put dielectric on coil connector. I actually put dielectric on all connections as I reconnect them after service, e.g. Maf, any sensor,.. What's your opinion on that?
I back the plugs out a turn then do a final blow off, after removing the plug wrench, to unlock the crud around the bottom of the plug, so it dose not fall into the hole. Never though about blowing off the threads, but I will start doing it. Thanks
have you done a video for the timing cover of a 2010 focus ?
Nice video. What if you don't have access to an air compressor? Would a compressed air can work as well?
When do you recommend changing spark plugs on the 1.5 ecoboost fusion
perfect explaination my man!!!
I will keep the tip to only use Ford Motorcraft Plugs in mind when it comes time to change the plugs in my 2014 Ford Fiesta 1.6. Been happy with the car so far and want to keep it running at its best for a long time to come.
These are the latest plugs for your car depending on which 1.6L you have:1.6L Naturally Aspirated- amzn.to/2gKGtnS
1.6L Ecobooost- amzn.to/2fJLblZ
Thanks for the information and link. I will save this information for the future
Fantastic job. Thanks
Will a six inch extender and the socket reach? Also, how crucial is the special spark plug socket or can I use a regular one?
Dude, you're a Gangster- Thank you!
Thank you brother explained perfectly appreciate it
Great job on video.
agree with June and the Vidoe author, Motorcraft (or autolite) a must. I used NGK plugs based on the auto store clerks recommendation......ouch....driving back up I-5 in Ca, car got really sluggish, Engine light eventually went on dash, ran quick OBD11 scan, P0301 cyl 1 misfire code, pulled the plug in cyl 1(far left), electrode was completely gone!!!! krikey.
hi I'm new to working on my car and I'm trying tk learn new things.... I had a valve cover gasket come loose and I'm taking it Monday to a mechanic to fix it... but my question is -
how would I change it myself, and if my spark plugs were covered in oil, what steps would I take (other than obviously changing the spark plugs ) ?
I had a misfire on my 3.5 Eco. I noticed when checking the spark plugs that the coil didn't make the ploop sound when pulling it off. I went on a hunch and replaced all the boots and the misfire went away. I mentioned it on the F-150 forum and a fellow that had the same issue replaced the boots and his misfire issue went away.
There is actually a TSB that ford put out on these engines to replace all 6 plugs and coil boots, so good call on your part.
It was cheapest and simple. The plugs were ok and I re-gapped them to .28.
Great and informative video as always :)
Do you have instructions for Ford Taurus 2012 as well?
On the 2015 focus SE 2.0 L, there’s a wire with a rubber cap between plugs 2&3. What is that and why would mine be swelling?
Good video, thanks
Appreciate the video. Thanks.
great video ty
Very informative thank u
I bought Motorcraft for my 2014.
Are these pre gapped?
Good Job!
thank you for this greet videos<
i have ford focus 2011 and i want to change the engine with focus 2012 is it possiple or its ok
Why? Theyre identical platforms
Is the cleaning part really necessary I can do everything besides blow air in and clean it, I'm trying to do all this without having to bye anything extra
new logo 👍
If you somehow get this comment, thank you by the way, I have a 2016 Ford Focus hatchback SE and I drive the hell out of it (even tho it's slow) and have 68,000miles on it so I probably need to change the spark plugs so do I get the Iridium spark plugs 1 stage colder or just the stock spark plugs?
Do you have any recommended tuneup items to do around 60k? I just bought a focus with the 5 speed manual and 60k seems like a good time for maintenance items. also, have you found the new 2.0 Ti-VCT's to be reliable?
Nice video, you sound just like Chris Fix :)
Can you remove the 8mm without a drill? Sorry, i dont know much about tools
Thank you
Another great video. What interval do you recommend for an air filter replacement for a 2017 Focus RS?
check your owner's manual. it tells you the proper interval. Most cars it's 12-24000 miles
Why is Amazon saying (your link for the plugs) does not fit my 2014 Focus SE Hatch 2.0L Manual (Gas - Not Flex) ?
Hi nice video it help for us, by the way I have 2017 ford escape 2017 titanium I want to clean my air flow sensor but I can’t take it off the sensor, Can you pls. see the tutorial how to take it of the sensor and clean it.
Thanks dude.
Cracking in the apoxy area can you please elaborate boss on the cracks
Where do you get the air want and air compressed from
I have a 2008 f150 with the 5.4 3 valve motor, when should i change the spark plugs, it has about 67500 miles on it.
60k is a good spec for any Ford N/A engine
your a damn good wrench my man..
If I install a sprk plug thats 0.26 but spec should be 0.27 does it matter if its by 0.1? Will it make a defference?
Works for me!
Thanks for helping everyone out with this. What oil do you use in that engine (5w40 etc). Cheers
Calls for 5w20
Hello I have. Ford Fox. The sea 130000 km The sea you recommend replacing lime oil
Hi how are you again Sir. I was very curious on the 2.0 eco boost engine. Does it have a timing belt or chain. ? Thank you for your help
Chain
Taper seat plugs don't need a lot of torque. If they are torqued too tight, they will be next to impossible to get out without breaking them.
I always use anti-seize on plugs.
Could I use full cynthetic on that engine
My girlfriend has a 2014 focus that has 100000 miles and it needs plugs should I be worried about them snapping off coming out ?
Sp 530 can install in Volvo s60 1.6 DrivE 2013 Right ?
Where plug wires located? Im trying to replace the plugs
Did they Change this plug to SP535X ??
I just did this and the two middle plugs had a small amount of oil on them(I assume the valve gaskets or whatnot). This 2013 has high hard miles so I just cleaned the oil and dropped in the new plugs... She seems to run very smoothly for now, hope to get another 50,000 miles outta her.........
Wish Ford had put those kind of connectors on the 4.6. I've got one connector being held to the coil with a zip tie.
All too common on those.
I see they beefed up the mounting point for the coil hold down as well. 4.6 coils like to break at that point. As far as the connectors go, I think ford sells a pigtail as a replacement for those.
I just epoxied my connectors on ,works great
Off topic question but did ford ever fix the air bag problem with the 2011-2014 explorers?? My 2012 explorer air bag light is on
What problem is that?
FordTechMakuloco The air bag light stays illuminated on the dash and doesn't turn off. Link m.carcomplaints.com/Ford/Explorer/2012/seat_belts_air_bags/air_bag_light_stays_on.shtml
What does that mean if there is oil on the bottom of the boot ?
Another Awesome Video. -- Thanks! -- When should we use a little anti-seize on the threads for the coil pack bolts? When should we use a little dab of di-electric grease on the coil pack harness connectors too?
You can throw a bit of anti-seize on the coil bolts but not really needed for something that small on top of the engine. I don't put the xg-12 electrical grease on electrical connectors unless they are constantly exposed to the element like connector lower on the engine and even then they are so well insulated and sealed up water ingress and corrosion usually isn't a problem.
FordTechMakuloco -- Yeah that really does make make a lot of sense. Thanks! As always -- make awesome video's for everyone. Rock n Roll, Bruddah -- Rock n Roll
FordTechMakuloco are these the same spark plugs for the 2.0L ecoboost engines? my ford fusion 2.0L ecoboost titanium i have 76k miles on the odometer it's getting a little slow back than when i bought my fusion i was hable to smoke the 2010 v6 3.5L ford fusion and now im getting smoke by my other ford fusion none ecoboost 😡
Would the hose on my air compressor be safe instead of a can of air? I've heard there's chemicals in home systems that aren't safe for electronics.
Air compressor air is fine.
Could you use a shopvac to pull dirt out? Also, you’re such a rockstar! Thank you for the awesome video!
Delayed answer but yes, I would absolutely use a shop vac before I pull any of the boots. Then use the air hose inside the hole.
Do i first need to disconnect the battery terminals?? Thank you
no
The vid will when i get ready to do the job
Thanks.
When cleaning debris, would it be better to use a vacuum cleaner instead?
Yes. 100%
If it’s just for maintenance do you need to change coils as well? I thought we were always supposed to change the coils at the same time?
No need to replace OEM coils, they rarely fail.
Which one is ignition core
What plugs do u recommend for a 2006 Ford Fusion SE...It's a 6 cylinder ?
These right here- amzn.to/2gSraWy
Thanks...can u please tell me what's the name of the material u put on the plugs to stop the squeaking
Nickel anti-seize I have links to it in the video description.
What do you connect the air gun too?
An air hose.
can you blow air into the cylinder 👀👀👀
My 2014 focus hesitates to start after i put gas in it...anyone have the same issue?
