John Dolmayan is one of the best drummers ever man. He's a machine. His beats, flourishes, they're burned into my brain. And I'm not even a drummer.
I mean every member of SOAD was talented, especially in their heydey, but John doesn't get quite the amount of love Daron (the lead guitarist) and Serj (the lead vocalist) do.

100%. Metal drummers in general get a lack of respect sometimes I think. John is for sure criminally underrated, not only for metronomic timing and beautiful flourishes, but really driving the song in a way other bands would rely more heavily on the bass.

Grown up in America I would consider this to be on the grunge side like grunge Punk and because metal isn't politically motivated necessarily and a lot of System of a Down shines a light on social Distortion I respective of people who've been oppressed by political invasion basically when the American dream died and I'm not saying it ever existed or it did exist but there was a point like Mass scale where Americans especially their children were no longer disillusioned if you do appreciate the message side of System of a Down give the song Lonely Day Alyssa this band I feel is a lot like Slipknot and Rage Against the Machine
