The whole “Toxicity” Album has no bad song by far the best selling of all albums of them from start with “Prison Song” to the end with “Aerials” this album can play from start to finish and every song hits home to me.

I remember back then there was no spotify or youtube. When this came out, we had to literally drive to a music store, go to those players withhadphones and have a prelisten before we bought.
Prison song. DAM. DAM DAM DAM DAM. "They're trying to build a prison". DAM. DA DA DA DAM.
I smiled. And bought it. Drove 20km in Germany from my small town to the next city to prelisten and buy, put it on the CD player in my car on the way back, and I freaking loved it. Love them still. What a band.

Chop Suey is the best intro to S.O.A.D.
    Aerials has the best transitions.
BYOB will blow you head back.
    Soldier Side is sick.

    Spiders is unique.

Lonely Day has a lot of singing.

In Rock/Metal etc. they usually always feel their lyrics. They write what they feel, they create the music themselfs completely, it's art from the heart and that's why the comunuty usually is so connected and invested.

The song's title is "suicide" but they had to "chop" it to "suey" to get the song on the album. thus chop suey. You can see them making fun of their own name for the song when they sing the lyrics "Cry" and everyone on screen is crying while eating chop suey

I trained my self to play drums to this band. Played in 2 bands my self. As well they are a fantastic group. They broke up because of payment and creative differences. They recently came back together to put out an album for things going on in their home country. A lot of their songs are about the establishment, government, etc. Their songs are truly unique. You have to listen to more songs to really get a feel for their talent and ability. Their songs came out when bush was in office, but agreeing with another comment, listen to arials, toxicity (one of my favorites to play), hypnotize is also a good one. If you want to get into one of their more trippy songs, sugar is a good one.

All System of a Down songs are amazing, you might also like Serk Tankian where he sings outside of the band.. Lots of lyrics and amazing vocals

Guitarist Daron Malakian, who wrote it with lead singer Serj Tankian, explained: "The song is about how when people die, they will be regarded differently depending on the way they pass. Like, if I were to die from a drug overdose, everyone would say I deserved it because I abused drugs, hence the line 'Angels deserve to die.

Singing with these guys in my car has been one of the greatest escapes of my horrible life. Mesmerize/Hypnotize is 75 minutes and 46 seconds of pure joy. I love that I can pick either part to sing too. Sometimes you want to be Daron; Sometimes Serj.
One of the most unique things SOAD does is those elongated harmonized notes. Examples:
"You... you went beyond, and you lost it all. Why did you go *theeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeere?"*
"Every time I look in your eyes, every day I'm watching you die. All the thoughts I see in you about how I... IIIIII-IIIII-IIIIIIII-IIIIIIIIIII-IIIYYY!"
"...a sad Statue of Liberty, and a generation that didn't agree. Generatioooooooooooooooon!"

Never thought I'd live in the day and age where there are more people who's never heard of rock/metal songs. I thought I was a bit slow or late to start listening to the rock/metal songs and that was literally 20 years ago. And I still have those songs in my playlist today.

Original song title was ‘Suicide’. Even back then the record big wigs weren’t comfortable w that-they ‘chopped’ the title and told them to come up w something else. Chop (chopped) Suey (their way of still working in the original title).
