His mother wasnt an illusion in the cell, she just knows how to project her image just like Loki does. Like... she taught him or something.
About Odin: I dont think they write him badly this movie. I think we as viewers get to be disillusioned about him just as Thor gets disillusioned. In the first movie Thor is an arrogant child who provokes a war, and Odin is against that and his flaws are not apparent in that situation. In the second movie we see how Odin united the realms, and its not pretty. Hes not the noble king Thor thinks he is.

The infinity stones are each powerful artifacts in their own right and even scarier when combined. Asgard thinks its safer if they aren't all kept in one basket.
The Collector likes collecting rare and valuable things, even if he doesn't have a practical use in mind. He'd want the stones just to have them. I'm not saying he absolutely wouldn't use stuff from his collection, just that he'd want a complete set regardless and generally isn't motivated by galactic conquest.
Since he collects plot devices as a hobby, he needs to have pretty good security, at least for his most valuable items. That makes him a pretty good choice to keep something out of the wrong (or at least worse) hands. He might be more secure than Asgard's vault, or at least comparable.

So, love the MCU films you love and gripe about the ones you don't, and tell anyone who tries to demand you have the same opinion as them to piss off.
While I did like this movie, one of the things I enjoyed about this movie the most doesn't actually come from the movie itself, but more the episode of Agents of SHIELD that aired after the movie's release: "You know, for once it'd be nice if, for once, Thor and his people would send down the god of Cleaning Up After Yourself. They probably have a magic broom for it."

I get what you're saying about Odin, but in the mythology, he Is an actually shady guy. True, the comics/movies are separated from the literal myth, and it may have been an accident on the writing team, but the strange change in charger throughout the film is consistent with his TRUE character.
Odin is all about gaining EVERYTHING; knowledge ancient artifacts, everything! He's literally called the Allfather.
In his search for ultimate knowledge, he lost his eye(in the myth not the film).
As a king, it's his job to put on airs for the people and even for his sons. He doesn't bother putting it on for me who are, in his eye, inconsequential.
Now that something dear to him(Frigga) is gone, taken from him, he feels that a need to pretend is pointless as everything that mattered to him is lost.
Odin is willing to risk everything he HAS, even at the cost of his dignity as a king and a person, as long as it means victory.

    • @ZarathosDaimaoh
      @ZarathosDaimaoh 2 дня назад +1

He is still plenty shady in the comics version. The spin was just that he was supposedly wise, and making awful if not sometimes evil decision for the good of Asgard or his family. In the 70-80S Odin's plots and lies always came back biting them back, especially while he was in his Odin-Sleep mode. At the end of the 90s, it comes full circle with Ragnarok finally happening, and the reveal that Odin kept scheming to free himself, Thor and Asgard from a never ending cycle orchestrated by "the Ones who sit above in the shadow". We also learnt how he stole his throne from his father Bor. And when back to life around 2018 , he was basically a broken mess, a bitter drunk jerk cast aside by everyone. I agree that in the movies he is usually depicted in a very positive light

For some Marvel lore: there are a small group of individuals who are the last of their race. They dedicate themselves to one, specific, task and this dedication is so strong that it holds off age. The Collector is one such being. His dedication to collecting things is so strong that it has rendered him immortal. He doesn't want the Infinity Stones to use, he wants them so he has a set of Infinity Stones. That's why the Asgardians trust him. He will keep them secure in a private, planet-spanning vault just so he can look at them and think "I have the whole set."

Is that the MCU version? Because in the comics they were ancient (and made immortal through a specific event) that have each chosen a calling to basically keep busy (one is a competitive fighter, one is a competitive runner, one does gardening etc).

Netflix's Daredevil btw, SO DAMN GOOD. the Netflix series, not the Movie with Ben Affleck.

The Hammer shots are always great. This movie does suffer from a common issue with the weaker MCU movies where the film's Antagonist being forgettable and not fully fleshed out in. It was definitely OK, but not as good as it could have been with a more compelling antagonist.

27:42 lucky you there is 2 seasons of Loki show after avengers endgame and let me tell you this, It’s definitely one of THE best things marvel has ever produced (equal to infinity war and endgame). Especially the finale of Loki where Loki decides to take all the burden on his own (people who watched it know what I’m talking about).
The visuals, the music, the message, the symbolism of the finale. I have never seen a more perfect, more powerful and more satisfying but bittersweet ending in a tv show till now. So yea I can’t wait until you get to it.

I think the biggest issue people had with this movie was that a lot of the stuff that is presented like it should be a big deal didn't get set up well enough to make it actually feel like it was a big deal. Personally I still rather enjoy it for what it is, but at the same time I won't defend it as something it's not. I also agree with Alicia's points about the writing when it came to Odin's character.

I feel so bad for this movie because it got completely screwed over by executive meddling. The Marvel Creative Committee massively rewrote the film in post-production, forcing the creators to make unpopular changes after the film had already been shot. Most significantly, Maliketh originally had an extensive backstory that explained who he was as a character and why he wanted to destroy the Nine Realms, which would have made him feel much less flat as a character, but it was entirely scrapped to make room for more Loki scenes because Loki sold more tickets.
