    Wasted time/effort/material on the table when a single piece of birch plywood cut to size does the job.

    • @LensOfJames
      @LensOfJames  3 года назад +2

      Not really, because a sheet of ply is difficult to transport in a small van, the pineboard can be bought in a number of sizes that suits your project (meaning less cuts to make and less wastage), is lighter than quality plywood (important for a van build), is easy to source for me (unlike quality ply). I've done a 'single piece of ply table' (see my earlier video) and it looked basic. I'm very pleased with my new table build - no regrets with this upgrade!

    I wish there was a way for me to buy this off you! I've watched this so many times and drawn up plans, and it never is quite like yours!
    All the best,

      Hi Brad, I don't really have any plans other than what's in the video (the rest is in my head) but I will be doing a written blog post on it in the future. My blog can be found here: nv200vanconversion.wordpress.com/. Cheers, James

    Nice build. The use of that 90-degree angle-iron as a straight edge is brilliant!

    Hi James, I probably something but could you detail where do you srew your M6 screw to hold the table against the wall. Does the the thread hole where already in the van or did add some anchorage ? Thanks in advance
    Later add: I found the answer in your old table video ! thanks

    Like a gift from the universe, RUclips recommended your channel. Thank you for the content. It's given me the support I've needed. Just finished insulating and plying my Vauxhall Vivaro swb high top. Made the unit for the fridge and wood burner. Walnut veneer ordered. Next job is designing the sofa bed.

    Excellent work and attention to detail is admirable. Can only echo the positive comments of others.
    Having used this for a year now - are there any changes you would make or features you would add?

    I've watched all your videos, and have been really digging into the design of my NV200 camper build. I have a plan mocked up in CAD and sketchup. I'm so impressed with the cabinet design. The part that intimidates me the most is building cabinets to fit the shape of the van. Would you be willing to share or sell your sketchup file of the cabinet? Thanks for considering!

    • @LensOfJames
      @LensOfJames  3 года назад +2

      Hi Emily, thanks! My SketchUp design was mainly for the dimensions of the cabinet and the side parts which fit the shape of the van were more of an estimation. The fit of the cabinet in my van is by no means perfect, but making a cardboard template was definitely the way to go!

      @@LensOfJames thanks. Have done the pull out bed but love your cupboard and table. Just looking for a suitable portable battery pack as we found we need this after testing the van on a recent trip to Spain.

    This is really helpful, thanks and great channel. I had quite literally finished my bed build, very similar to yours but just double. I was thinking about how to make a pull down table and here it is 🤙🏻I'm also a surfer but the board lives above me at night time. By the way, I've only had my van about 5 weeks and found out I had to change my insurance when I added the bed to a motorcaravan. Glad I checked.

    Someone is getting proficient on the tools ? Super job, i think you will start using the router for more and more tasks once you gather many cutters, i.e cutting the table out and sinking the hinge, the space between new shelf and back doors is bigger than you think it will be perfect for a spice rack shelf or 2 with 3mm bungee cord strung a few times on the front you could even screw jar lids to the bottom for hanging jars.
    I went out early this morning for a couple of hours with the dog and cooked breakfast and coffee once back to the NV.

    Hi thanks for putting in the time to make these videos. I wanted to know if there's anyway of putting 3 metre bundles of copper pipe flat into this can without having to put them onto the dashboard itself. My colleague has a bulkhead in his but would be willing to cut it. The Pipe tube was stolen off the top of his van along with about £200 worth of pipe.
    Thanks

    • @LensOfJames
      @LensOfJames  2 года назад +1

      Hi Ray, thanks and sorry to hear about the theft. I've got a dimensions video here: ruclips.net/video/CJe8pgAKwxw/видео.html. I'm not sure you'll get 3 metres inside the van without it going on the dash. My surfboard is 9'5" and there's only about an inch to spare, though it's a lot bulkier than pipe so you may be able to find a few extra inches by moving them around. Sorry I can't be more definitive with an answer, but hope it helps!

    hi you focus quite a lot on the design but i wonder since i have the same van, where do you screw the whole structure to the van? do you screw on the metal of the van?

    • @LensOfJames
      @LensOfJames  3 года назад +1

      Hi, there are 5 built-in screw threads in the walls of the van which I used - I go into it in more details in this video: ruclips.net/video/cJGZMmY0svM/видео.html
