I love your channel, because you don't overdo things and obviously keep an eye on the costs, which is what most people want when they start with building a camper van. The editing of your videos is also great. Calm and not too boring, but detailed enough. Cheers from Germany, hope to see many more of your videos!
What a great job you have done, very impressive. I like the way you have kept things simple by avoiding multi voltage systems and gas. Thank you for keeping such detailed costings, it lets the rest of us know what we are letting ourselves in for.
Yes it just goes to show what you can do for about 1K. By selling the back seats in my NV200 I was able to put that money back into the pot and got the outlay down to £800.
Great video james! Amazing to get such a clear breakdown of costs. I'm thinking of buying an NV200, just wondering what you pay for UK road tax given that it's a personal use panel van rather than car? I'm struggling to understand the guidelines!!
Thanks Ben! Mine is taxed at the standard van vehicle tax which is currently £265, though others may vary if they have seats, but I don't know the finer details on this
Mike from County Durham. I think you can be very proud of your nissan nv200 job. I have an nv200 that i am intending to do a similar build , you have been an inspiration for some great ideas and am looking forward to getting van complete for spring 2021, fingers crossed re covid of course. Best wishes with using the van and enjoying it to the full. Mike.
Currently doing my own nv200 conversation these videos have been a lifesaver! How much insulation and carpet did you get for the price? I’m unsure of how much to order
Yes like this... everythings sounds pretty basics n easy.... Currency Almost 5++ times more in my Country, i guess if its in my country the workman n all will be a little lower ....
Is your van a 1.5? Also, your bed covers the passenger sliding door. Do you ever use it for acres or anything else? I'm in the market for a base van and see a nice one like this but wasn't sure if i needed a more powerful engine .with it kitted out like yours?
Such talent and design skills you have! I'm amazed at your costs too I'm sure things are double that amount down here in Essex! I was guessing £3-£4k for your complete fit (not that I've any idea at all!) You made all it look so easy too. Did you buy your van empty, or did you have to strip it out, and how much would a van similar like this cost in its raw state, please? Sorry to ask, but Im a complete 'newbie wannabe a campervan owner' lol xx
Thanks, it was at pre-covid prices though, which definitely helped! When I bought the van it was ply lined, so just removed all that and started from scratch. I don't know whether the van market has become a bit more stable yet, but I should think £8000-10000 would get you a decent van. There are cheaper (and more expensive!) options out there of course 😊
Nice to-the-point video with no padding and no begging for subs or merch purchases. Well done. I built my Vivaro day van to similar specs over the summer and spent about the same, so you’re on the ball😊
Thanks so much for the breakdown. I'm just at the beginning of my van-built adventure, having purchased a Nissan e-NV200 earlier this month. It's always encouraging to see others who have committed more time and less cash to builds, and I think it really shows in the overall design of the conversion. I have a budget of £2,200 but that includes adding in a sink, electrics and paying someone to install my skylight window (thank you for helping me to decide whether that was a necessary expense 🤣).
You did a great job man. I loved it. You have very minutely described in a very specific ways. You have dont all the fundamental needs needed when you are away from home which is what most people want to know. You have detailed almost all of the materials needed and also the cost so that people know in advance how much it costs. You a great influencer to the people who want to spend life away home. Hail to you.
An excellent conversion. I enjoy your videos very much, please keep them coming. Your channel is the first port of call for me for what I do in my van. Thank you
I was pleasantly surprised by the cost, far more manageable for more folk in the tight days today. Looks cool. I sure it will get more work and new additions as time goes on.
Hi, I've got a link to it here: amzn.to/3QsUhka (please note, it's an affiliate link which helps support this channel). The Novoo power bank is also discounted at the moment!
Thanks so much for your video. Very good, I didn't see a lot of builds with the plastic rectangular storage buckets but I was thinking before that they are a very simple idea. No need for traditional cabinets in there imho. The bed is very good. However, I'd require water storage, grey water, and solar plus batter, converter, charge controller. Usage would be full time. Some little things I'd do like I heard putting vents int he back door will allow air to pass over a sleeping person and cool them nicely with the fan running pulling in air. I'd want a heater. I don't see that on your build. Windows that open for a breeze would be nice. An insect net for an open sliding door would be nice. I'd have to cook with a microwave or stove. I have a bread maker. Nice to be able to use. I'd want a swivel passenger seat and possibly also driver seat with a table for that. Swivel installation is more expensive. I saw a guy bought a unit for like 110 pounds. He took a lot of time to install it and needed help from mechanically inclined friend. Having that comfortable drivers seat to do my work on a laptop, that would be awesome.
Everyone definitely has a different take on their van build - all those things definitely depend on the size of your van and how often you intend to sleep in it. For my usage they just wouldn't be worth the money, however for many they are 👍
Awesome! Well done You!! We have a Ford Expedition, which we bought new in 2003 and want to convert to a mini-camper. I really love what you have done. Thanks for sharing!
Thanks! I like it because it's small (so good for the narrow roads where I live) but there's still enough room to sit up inside. It's also very economical and I like the look of the van 😊
Love the clean simplicity of your build, appears really ergonomic and serviceable. A suggestion with regard to the aesthetic of the rear, to close in the end of the chair prior to it being a bed. Appreciate your commentary and details. Thanks
Looking for hints and tips for my Transit Connect build, I found you. Watched a couple of videos and subbed.... a good channel with explicit but simple film shots and commentry. Well done, "proper job". One question is left burning... What is, and where from is that super cute Powerpack, have you got a Link? Looks just the thing I need. How do you recharge it, with Solar panels or in the house from the mains, or even the vehicle ciggy lighter socket? Thanks for the videos, and your time to answer my Q's, Steve.
Hi, thanks - glad you like the videos! It's a Novoo power station which I got off Amazon, though I can't find it anywhere now so maybe they've stopped making it?!
It's such a great simple and practical build. There's nothing you don't need there. People do fancy van builds. But if you want to visit somewhere in the UK or Europe you could park up nearly anywhere and this is your bed for the night. Amazing, very tasteful and utilitarian.
I need to find your wood supply. That is some very cheap wood. Was just over half the cost I expected it to be at the beginning of the video having watched the others (£2k)
The wood for the bed was just B&Q but the other furniture was made out of pineboard, which I found for a good price at a local shop here in Cornwall. Really helped shave a few £s off the total!
Great video. Lots of useful info. I think the cost is very good. Would you consider using it as a weekend camper? If so would you change or add anything.
Yes absolutely, I don't think you'd need to adapt it too much for a weekend camper, as I've got means for cooking and refrigeration, but I'm sure there might be a small additions along the way. Certainly the main layout and function of the camper would accommodate weekend camping 🙂
An absolute bargain! You (so far) don't have any cooking stove, kettle for tea, or coffee prep? This really shows that a van can be done on a budget but still look the part.
@@LensOfJames Perhaps I should watch in the correct order rather than randomly jumping into videos I think interesting. Binge watching all of them this wet weekend.

TL;DR: £ 1207. But the video is worth the watch.

nice. cant wait to see more videos
Brilliant job and definitely worth every penny you've spent. So inspirational.
Very interesting and informative video as I'm looking to to convert one myself, thanks you've steered me down the right path

Where is your toilet and its setup and how do you do your shower 🚿?
🙂🙂🙂
Hi, it's a weekend/day out/holiday van and not lived in, so I don't need a toilet or shower
Nice job! About a third of my running total so far...
you´re good, can you build me one? left hand steering.
Haha, thanks!
Really smart looking van conversion for any price. Amazing!

Nicely done. Well planned and executed , , useful build. The drop down desk was especially nice.
