Thank youuu

Super 👌
Thank you! How do I make a screen recording that shows me talking in the bottom corner, as you were in this video?
Lots of ways, depending on what you are trying to do specifically. If you need to make a lot of videos like this and want lots of recording and editing options, see: macmost.com/what-i-use
Awesome! Is this what you use to record your youtube videos and tutorials? or do you use another software for that?

Thanks 🙏 What about internal audio ?
Existential Audio BlackHole will help you
I have the same question.
He has a separate video about that. You have to download an app and specify how to record audio.
Probably have to use Quicktime to do that.

Another great video, Gary! I am going to see if this method will let me use a short clip from YT video. I’m on an ancient MacBook and can’t recall the iOS version.
Not really for that. You would use it to record something you are doing. A RUclips video is already a video. Why record that?
@@macmost Just to pull a segment.
NICE
Love it. Thanks. What’s a good way to record a time lapse of your screen?
Not sure. Probably depends on what your goal is. What are you trying to make?
@@macmost Working on a project and want to show the process but not every frame. Might be a 2or 3 hour process and want to show in 10 mins or less. Thank you.
@@badcatdesign That's a tough one. Recording for 2-3 hours and then speeding up the video will be tough because they would require a huge amount of disk space to save the initial file. Maybe using OBS to do it, where you can record to a compressed stream could be something worth trying? I've never had to do anything like that so maybe look elsewhere for more ideas too.
@@macmost Thank you. In the past, I've used LICEcap, but there's no way to alter the file after the fact. It must be recorded at the FPS you preselected.
Could you advise a replacement for iShowU Audio Capture which doesn't work with my new (2nd hand) Macbook Air! And why doesn't Apple allow system audio to be captured along with video?
ruclips.net/video/n-ECXna1hiY/видео.html
I wish there was a way to reduce the framerate of the screen recording so that it would take up less space.
Thanks Garry. What I don't know is how do you record yourself in the screen corners. I learned the possibility using keynote but it seems you use a different app. Could you comment?

@@macmostGary, the last time I tried ScreenFlow, I couldn't select a custom shape for the window of my face in my video (it was always a square window when I recorded myself). I noticed that yours has a custom shape. How were you able to do that?
Gary, it is frustrating that one can possess and M1, 2, 3 MacBook super pro and there are gaps on the sides when recording natively on such devices. Is there any other way to record on the MacBook with no gaps on the sides available out there?
Gaps on the sides? Not sure what you mean by that.
How about to record it with sound? I am taking a Logic Pro class and need to have sound display in the screen recording. I have a Mac Studio m2.
ruclips.net/video/n-ECXna1hiY/видео.html
How do you do that on older Max like High Sierra? I’ve tried to that command and it doesn’t work.
If I remember correctly, if you are all the way back at High Sierra you have to do this by launching QuickTime Player, then there is a menu option to record the screen there.
I am using the live feature in keynote I changed my camera and I chose my mic. I saw the mic sound moving in the presentation. When I went back to listen to the recorded presentation, there was no sound. What am i missing?
Not sure. Check everything carefully including in System Settings, Sound. Test and test again as you change things. Make sure you can record elsewhere like in QuickTime Player or Voice Memos, etc. You've got to work to troubleshoot it.
iI can't upload on RUclips bc of developer unauthorised?
How can I record internal audio from mac and external audio with the screen recording
Doing both at the same time will be tough. I do it easily with ScreenFlow, if this is a professional need and you have a budget. Otherwise, you'll need to work with this: ruclips.net/video/n-ECXna1hiY/видео.html
I need to screen record my Mac vertically. How do I do that? Thanks
Not sure what you mean by that. Vertically how?If you record the screen it would be the width and height of the screen. Are you trying to then crop that to another width? Or maybe only record a vertical slice of the screen?
is there a time limit for the recording? Like you record for multiple hours?
Not sure. Hours of recording would fill up the drive though. Might be best to get a specialized app to either record a rolling amount, or compress the stream while recording.
I pressed shift/command/5 and nothing happened. I'm on an Macbook Air with Mac Os Sierra. What should I do to get this feature to work?
Probably because you a many years behind in your version of macOS.
In what resolution does record?
Whatever resolution your screen is.
I recorded screen video on my MAC by pressing Command + Shift + 5 keys. I used Airpod during recording screen. The results is that my video only records screen with no audio. How can I fix the problem ? Is there anyway to retrieve the video's audio ?
ruclips.net/video/n-ECXna1hiY/видео.html
Mac OS High Sierra v. 10.13.6 doesn't do the recording, i was hoping it would work!
That's a pretty old version of macOS and before this. You need to use the QuickTime Player app instead.
Someone answer
How come I don’t have sound when I record?
You need to choose a microphone. You can see it at around 0:30.
How can you change the quality of the video though? Mine doesn't come out as clear as it normally is when I'm not recording
That's odd. It should be exact. Maybe when you play it back you are looking at it in a smaller window?
Nah the same size. Did it on both a 1440p and 4K monitor
@@macmost There's no way to change the quality of the recording though? What about w Quicktime player instead??
@@PA22859 The recording would be the same, but you can downsize it when saving. Same with the regular recording though if you set it to save to QuickTime Player.
is it possible to also record my web cam?
At the same time? There are many apps that do that. If for a professional need, I use ScreenFlow.
When I try to record the screen it doesn't work. All I get is a screenshot, not a video. I have no problem connecting with Blackhole, but for some reason, I can't get a video recording. It also not clear how to stop the recording. The little camera icon goes away, and then I don't see how to stop the recording.
It sounds like you are using the screenshot shortcut or button instead of the screen recording one. Watch the video carefully and make sure you click the same button as I show here. I also show you exactly how to stop it in this video.
okay, I can trim the video but how do you crop
You have to bring it into either Photos or iMovie to have an option to crop.
The screen recording has no audio from the Mac.

@@macmostPerhaps you could do an updated video on this topic in 2024. What would be the best free (or low cost) solution to be able to simultaneously record your screen and the computer audio, while also being able to listen to the live audio as it’s being recorded?
@@chipdouglas1079 Hey there. I’ve always used Droplr but I/m sure there are many. And I believe if you use QuickTime it can do the audio as well.
That's why I like windows 😂
Good, I don't need audio.
windos keybord shift windoskey 5 key
I have recorded, but have got no sound why ?
Click the Options button that is shown in the controls and choose a microphone to record sound.
but how do I record my screen including the sound?
ruclips.net/video/n-ECXna1hiY/видео.html
i have a windows keyboard this dont work for me
edit: nvm i found out just gotta press windows button instead
mine has no volume
Did you choose a microphone? See 0:30.
Why is doesn't work on my Mac
What happens when you try?
@@macmost nothing, literary nothing...maybe because i used very old mac 🥲
this is no audio on the screen recording
Look at 0:30 and you'll see there is the option to choose a mic for audio.
So your telling me that ALL THIS TIME I could have been doing this? Crap. 🙄
