Typical Windy Day Traveling on the Yukon River Stan Zuray

- Thought it be interesting to show some of traveling on the Yukon River by boat as we daily do around here. Just like a car in the city which you drive every day this is what we do. A bit of the video was so shakey from being bigger waves that it was ridiculous and even this to me is kinda nerve racking as I like smooth videos. It does however show how it is when your driving in the chop. The audio may be hard for some to make out - I'm wearing hearing protection myself because the chop on the underside of the alumimun boat is deafening in my small cab. It is what it is. hope some may like it. Stan

I wish your show would come back!! I miss you guys!
Yes! I ,m happy you are going about your buiness and doing well!
I needed this at this day and time. Thank you sir.
How's it going Stan? Haven't seen an upload from you in awhile. It's amazing how in the same world we live such different lives. I wouldn't last a day in your world, and I think you'd pretty much hate living in mine. It's 111 degrees Fahrenheit here (real feel) and I don't think you could enjoy even a moment of it. I have a lot of respect for you and the guys around you who still live off the land. I enjoy living vicariously through you.
Very cool stuff
There is 50% chance I’ll move to Alaska, I am already convinced, now I have to convince my wife! 😂
duhaibetahiks we moved about two years ago, best decision ever
@@FrontierPreppers Wow! I am so happy for you!!! My wife hates cold weather. My dream is to move to Alaska. :::sigh:::
I hear you! I've wanted to move to Alaska since I was in elementary school. I'm 49 now and married to my wife who was born and raised in Southern California.
Don't plan on finding a job. And have lots of money. Bread was 2.00$ a loaf in the 70s milk was 4.00$ a gallon
Frontier Preppers over the last 2-3 years, my wife is getting better and better, I believe in another 5 she will approve my decision! All jokes aside, it has become my dream, I just can’t stand the big city anymore- stress, traffic, pollution, you name it!
Glad to see a video from you. Hope all is well with you and family. Hope to see many more videos from you soon.
Thanks Stan. Make more videos.😀

I'd spend a week working up there for free , just for a 40 mile boat ride on the YR. :) It's beautiful!
Que grande stan!!!! Me encanta la serie...y la vida que llevan en el yukon, joey, charlie,bob...un saludo grande desde Uruguay! !!!
So beautiful love seeing your videos, looking forward to moving up their ! What happened to the fish ? I didn’t understand what you said about it ? Y’all have a great week
Then king salmon have been in trouble for 25 years and it's just so bad now the state can't manage it. The fish took over the management. The chum salmon are simply in a cyclic slump I think. Different problem - El Nino - has happened before and come back ion record numbers.
Hello Stan, Great Video!! Hello from the Westcoast of Canada.
Howdy Stan- With high banks on both sides of the river, it looks like it would efficiently channel the wind up or downstream. haha.I'm a marine mechanic in Florida and often have to sea trial boats in the gulf. It can get rough...yep. I too would rather be back in Alaska instead of here. It's not that bad, it's 10 degrees cooler than hell! All the best to you and yours brother.
In the winter the back country can be calm and the river and our village will be howling.
@@stanzuray I enjoyed your winter tour of town on your snowmobile.
Seni severek izliyorum, yaşam tarzına hayranım
good video im from near boston to think its awesome u left ma started new out there wish i did same
Hey Stan , Hey Joey !!!!!! I see all the "yukon men" Films! Greets from Germany , bavaria !!!!!!!
You had to have seen this coming Stan With the fish season closed Since you did some of the research on them didn't you??
Enjoyed your video I gave it a Thumbs Up
The King salmon were damaged genetically long ago and we are living with the effects of that now. We are still ignoring the things we ignored all those years. We are in what I called 10 years ago "the cover up" phase of the King crash.
www.rapidsresearch.com/The_Fall_of_the_Yukon_King.pdf
The fall chum is different I think. In 2015 the record El Nino generated the warmest ocean water anomaly ever recorded. Parts of the Bering Sea (where our chum go as they are flushed out of the rivers after hatching) were 7 degrees warmer than normal. That warm water lingered into 2016 even after the El Nino subsided. 2016 was the parent year to a major portion of the chum salmon that were suppose to return this year. Those El Nino years should probably not have been fished on commercially at all but were.
QUESTION, Stan how long is your Boat? Thank you for the video.

Really good to see you on you tube, I miss the day to day video you did of life on the Yukon. I know you had started with a new documentary type video did it not work out for the people? Hope to see fishing, hunting and trapping.
I hope to see Alaska one day ‼️
We need the Yukon men back on uk tv ! It’s like is pats wife ok ! Is joey married ? And is Kate living in Tanana
I miss Charlie Courtney in fact the whole cast ! Who ever cancelled the show made a massive mistake xxxx
Pats wife okay, Joe is married happily, and Kate is working up on the north slope as a technician mechanic.
Stan Zuray thank you for taking the time to reply ! I really miss this show I don’t know when it actually ended for you guys but my husband and myself loved the show , so many questions regarding you’re life style as far as hunting and fishing , and how the road as affected you all ... take care best wishes to you all and you’re lovely families xx
Soy tu fan zuray desde veracruz mexico.
So do you know where they are filming the new show on discovery? It’s called 100 days wild. It is supposed to be close to you? Great video and one bumpy boat ride!!!
No but we run into friends working on the Life Below Zero show now and then.
Stan have you seen any Caribou? Got nothing in the Central Area. They were here, but the herd had moved to Birch Creek by season opener.
I think..........
Should see a few soon come down tom river. Tracks up in the hills above here. Be hunting time soon. Soon as I get fish camp done with.
Howdy Stan. Been awhile since we told lies to each other,. Yep, an upriver wind turns the waves to rip-rap. Been an interesting year for sure. I'm still in Galena.
Hi John - good to say hello. I miss you at the shop. Ran it by myself all all winter. Had no budget - city broke. It was interesting with so much snow. Anyway have wondered how you were doing. At fish camp but gotta move out soon and get other things done. I'd send my email but can't do it here.
@@stanzuray Sounds good. Later my friend!
Eu gosto muito dos seus vídeos, ñ pare nunca de fazê-los, quando terá video de caça
Almost all my hunting is done while I travel and rarely go hunting just for that. Quess that is why I don't have many of them. Actually all my trapping videos with my dogs are hunting videos. That's where and how I get almost all my moose and caribou etc.
🌞👍
Does the Yukon water level fluctuate much? Great video! Sorry to hear about the chum.
Yes lots. Summer to winter and day to day. All it takes is rain or no rain upriver
Water high on the river this year Stan? Pretty high water over here on the Mackenzie river this year.
Yes all summer been high and colder. Video was done 2 days ago so still high
Stan what are the reasons for the changes in the salmon seasons?
El Nino warm currents happen now and then. Disease hits the salmon sometimes. Overfishing has hurt them genetically by removing the older age classes of king salmon. Etc.
Is there one brand of outboard motor that is THE preferred one for the Yukon River ?
Okay this may start an arguement but first there is no one preferred I believe. See Yamaha, Honda, Mercury, Evinrude E-Tec, most. Had a mechanic that sold all four popular brands and I asked him once which ones does he see in the shop the least and he said Honda with Yamaha real close. Said the E-Tecs were 90% of what was in and out of the shop. To me Honda is like a Volvo in quality next to others I've had and had them all. Honda or Yamaha. Merc is a little cheaper and you get a good motor.
Good to see a video from you Stan ! it's been awhile !
TRUMP 2Q2Q 🇲🇽🤜🏽🤛🏼🇺🇸
How much longer untill the snow starts to fly Stan ?
Anytime after October 15 snow that falls can last till spring I always say.
At least ya can't say you're headed "up a lazy river " .
Is that the moon in the sky ahead Stan?
Nope just the blue sky during mid day
🤝👍
been awhile stan for a video thats a big river and see fall is coming there now
They have internet/cell signal in Tanana?
Very limited cell service but yes. Internet is okay and remote houses have it also using a small dish called HughesNet. That's what I have at fish camp here. Very limited but better than nothing. 250 MB a day.
Hi Stan. Very nice. I like Alaska. Do I find and have a place there?
Lots of room up here- just not as set up for easy living.
@@stanzuray
Do bees live there? Thank you.
Lots of yellow jackets etc but where I am in interior people don't keep honey bees over the winter.
Hello. Stan. when does moose season run now I used to live in Wasilla
I think generally Sept 5th although I honestly never know as I never get moose that early. Usually fishing them and to warm to deal with fresh meat.
Where are you ?
Almost exactly in the middle of the state. 730 miles up Yukon River in a village of 175 people called Tanana.
I really enjoyed your video.👌🏼⭐️
Greetings from Albania. 👋🏼🇦🇱
Also, Let’s build each other Up...🤝
How is the fishing this year?
Both the summer runs of King and chum crashed bad and now the fall chum is crashed. El nino, disease, commercial overfishing on the king. Different reasons for different fish but it's a disaster here.
@@stanzuray very sad to hear that, a lot of people depend on those runs.
I need a vacation cabin in Alaska. Or just live there.
When are the fishing videos going to start
Almost all our fishing was shut down this summer so have to check out some of the past ones all over my channel if you haven't.
Want size boat do u have. Brand name just watching your videos.
