One thing I love about the SNES is that when people know what they're doing, they can make the graphics and game look and feel like an animated cartoon. I know there's less interest in that now, but it really has helped the great games age well.
In the lower left corner of the Village, there is a little hut you can open with a Bomb, but the Wall has no Cracks or anything. You can find respawning Bombs and Arrows in there, very useful at the start.
I came looking for this in the comments. When he passed by the Cucco hut and we saw that he was saving the bomb for the quarrelling brothers, I had to see if I was the only one who, as a rule, went to the bombable hut to get more bombs and then to the Cucco hut before moving on. Thanks for making me not feel insane!
It's a little surprising the hut was passed over given the level of rigor shown with other Easter eggs and minutia and the 100% nature of the channel in general.
It’s possible he may not have known about that bombable hut. I played the game for almost 20 years and didn’t know about that for a long time. It always puzzled me why there would be a building with no discernible way of getting in.
I remember being so hyped about this game coming out as a kid. There was an article on the game in Nintendo Power (I think) which had a huge map of the overworld. The article mentioned how you could tell which walls could be bombed because they had a distinctive look. I went over every inch of that map with a magnifying glass, looking for all the cracks in the wall and circling each one so I wouldn't miss a thing.
Man I wish I didnt miss out on all of those things back when the game was released for the SNES...and even my dad was a big gamer before i was even born but I surprisingly hadn't played any Zelda games up until we got the N64 around 1996/97' and got Ocarina Of Time. And we had a NES but no Zelda games or Castlevania games but we had alot of other classic and some obscure games! Then we upgraded to a Sega Genesis instead of a SNES so I missed out alot of Nintendo exclusives growing up
When I was a kid in the 90’s this game completely captivated my best friend and I for a whole summer. Learning the entire map and getting every item on our quest to beat the game. There was no RUclips or guides, we had to sit there with a notebook and figure it out. Was an amazing time.
I remember me and my two friends using notebook paper for the map too! 😂 We looked crazy with notebook paper everywhere 😂 there were notes and drawings. We had 4 sections on 1 piece of paper. We spent a whole 3 days drawing that map. It was dead useful though. It was an amazing summer ❤ I remember getting slurpys and beef jerky then gathering at my house super early and spending all day just exploring and amateur cartography 😂
This was one of the first games I ever beat, and rebeat until I knew it inside and out and blindfolded. But it's m gonna watch all 2 hours like it's my first time again. Thanks for bringing me back to some of the best times in my life
Some of my first memories in life were playing this game, I was born the same year of the american release. My mom actually played through and beat it while pregnant with me. It was the first game I ever beat as well and re-beat over and over until I memorized it like the back of my hand. Will always be my favorite game of all time.
This is still the absolute pinnacle of perfection for Zelda games to me. Everything from the music to the art style chosen still holds up amazingly well to this very day. It is a true timeless classic in every sense of the word. A Link to the Past is what I hold up as my personal Game of All Time.
~ 10 years old link to the past was a whole new experience but Ocarina was the same for me. It was crazy at the time going through the progress of technology. The new stuff now does nothing for me.
@lb5759 I think the technology limitations bred more creativity for so many snes games. They knew what worked, they knew what people found interesting. And no game was so long it got boring.
Using the sword to deflect projectiles back at an enemy later took the name "Dead Man's Volley." It became a pretty big staple in some Zelda games later on, including Wind Waker and Ocarina of Time, as well as Twilight Princess just to name a few, most notably during the Ganondorf fights, or Phantom Ganon in Wind Waker.
@@Pants69 Yes!! Super Castlevania 4 is also one of my favorites also. 😎👍 My favorite level is the clock tower stage. You can easily defeat the mummy boss if you have the boomerang weapon with double or triple shot if he appears on the left side.

You GOTTA do "Link's Awakening" sometime. It's been forever since I've played that game, and I remember it being extremely challenging and long. Most other narrator's are not as appealing, and I would really like to see all of the secrets in that game. What a huge game that was! It's probably the best game for the original Game Boy, and it would be great to see UCBVG live through it for us. ❤️👍

40:50 - For those large cannon balls, you can duck into the openings between the green walls to avoid them. Nothing major, but could save you a potential headache on a first play though. That said, I have been waiting for this video! Thank you soooo much for covering this amazing game!
Oh, and when you turn the Buzzbob into a Cukemon (aka Starbucks Hipster) you can approach him and press the B Button to talk to him! They have some funny dialogue!
@Marko Polo yes people have different opinions. There are those who love LttP and regard it as one of the best games ever, and then there are those who are wrong. Seriously though I know people have different tastes but this game is amazing on so many levels
The brothers that sealed their door up 30:00 there’s actually an easier way to beat the speed course where you don’t have to cut so many bushes. First go through the middle section which takes you up and left. On your left will be 3 bushes and on the right will be a rock you can’t lift yet. Cut the 3 bushes and walk up to the sign but don’t read it. Press down in front of the sign and you’ll hop over the fence directly into the area where the boy is.

Still get goosebumps when seeing the master sword getting pulled. So epic. With those woodland animals running around , the fog/ tree shadows. Man. They don’t make em like this anymore.
Did you know about upgrading your bombs and arrows? I swear, I had no idea until this video. I put a few hundred hours into this game when it came out, even going as far as calling Nintendo Power's tip line because I was stuck at some point, and I still had no idea that you could carry more than 10 and 30 bombs and arrows. Love. This. Game.

I was curious about what would happen if I just kept throwing rupees in, especially since I would have plenty because I would keep doing in and out of that cave with the thief to get as many as I could carry. After I finally got the fairy to appear, I noticed it would allow me to drop even more at once, so that's what I did.
@@Ivegotwormsinme I think it's because I always had a habit of trying to check along every wall and every object of every area in games. Yeah, it takes forever to get trough games that way, but then you find a lot of secrets! I think the games that give the most reward for that kinda exploration are earlier Final Fantasy games. These days, maps are so MASSIVE, it's hard to do that kinda exploration. It's so hard to 100% anymore without a guide.
Thanks for this guide! I didn't own this until about 2007 when I was working at Sears. One day the crew cleaned out the back room, and I found a handful of sealed games including the GBA version of this game. It wasn't in the inventory and had its price reduced to $0.37, so of course I bought it and the other games. Some I kept, some I sold on Ebay, and I still have that copy but have never beaten it. I have it on the SNES Classic as well, and I always lose my way after getting the Magic Mirror.
As soon as I saw this come up on my feed I just said "Hell, yeah!" to myself and started it right away! By far my favorite Zelda game. So excited to journey along again with you on this one. Keep doing what you do, always such good content!
My favorite Zelda, I lost count on how many times I've beaten 100% this game, it's such a treasure to me, and I don't need a guide anymore to complete this game. Thanks for this guide, man! I replayed Link to the Past a while back and used this to help me through it and find all the secret items/locations. It's amazing how many secrets are in this game. It's a wonder people could unearth some of these back in the day without a guide! That's probably the experience Miyamoto was going for; the exploration and discovery of wonderful secrets to help you on your journey.

I didn't even play this till 8 years after it came out and it still blew my mind. One of the most epic games ever. Still sticks in my mind certain memories of playing it. The Level 5 and level 7 dungeons were always toughest for me.
I sometimes got the red cane from Dungeon 6 first (without killing that boss usually) just to bypass a block puzzle in number 5 with it. 7 is almost rage inducing to me even these days at a certain point where you had to light 4 torches to open a door while using the stupid pad track to get around. One mistake was usually enough to force me to have to start the puzzle all over again.
@@robertsutherlin-anson8631 OMG Turtle Rock was a literal nightmare as a kid. These days I actually prefer it over the Swamp Palace. By the way, equip the hookshot while on the floaty pad. You get invincibility frames while it shoots out and retracts, so you can avoid taking damage from those rotating fireballs.
This game is in my top 10 of best games ever made across any platform. From the music to the overall challenge of the game every part of it is amazing.
The music was such a huge upgrade. The prologue that plays if you wait at the title screen made me scared it was so ominous. That and the Super Ghouls N' Ghosts intro were always too scary to play in stereo after dark.
Your intros are always amazing, setting the tone and story as well as a mini history lesson. I think it's so well done, ty for all your effort on these.
I never had a SNES as a child, and of my friends who did, only one had this game and we were rarely allowed to play it. But the music stuck with me like glue.

I loved this game, like you I played and beat it a ton of times. I could probably still remember where everything is by memory. Just about every screen has a piece of heart somewhere, but most you can oy get with a certain weapon or item

But I had so much fun playing, figuring out, and beating NES and SNES games 30+ years ago when I was 10, 13, 14, etc... I had school, and a part time job, and football and basketball, but there was no REAL responsibility, no CRAZY stresses ruining my MONTH like after I moved out at 24 years old...and I won't even touch upon stress of your 30s lol... I try to play a few games every year, 2 years or so., but the best thing I did to help me hold onto that nostalgia, and good, happy vibes was DL to my phone like every damn song and sound effect from this game, Mario World, Super Metroid & Castlevania, and of course, the mother of all video game musics, Final Fantasy "2" & "3" lol... every noise, alert, alarm, etc., my phone makes is some sorta sound effect or theme/song from those games lol ... always provides me with a little flashback of easier, and in many ways, happier times as a teen... There may be no better alarm noise to wake up to than GODDESS APPEARS from this Zelda game 😆 .... so easy, so peaceful, so calming....

An all time classic of a game. I actually know this game so well, I did a playthrough of a modded version that is both linked to Super Metroid and a Randomizer!
This is one of the best Zelda games. I remember playing it for the first time. The graphics & world surroundings where just amazing. I probably played it for like 10 hours straight lol
As a kid this game literally felt like an epic adventure that you had to undertake and I spent my days at school talking to friends about the game. We read different gaming magazines and talked to friends outside of school to find all the stuff and “Beat” the game with 100% completion. As an adult I learned Nintendo released a guide for the game, which would have made the 100% completion far easier but nowhere near as fun. 30 years later, it feels like a guide is mandatory for new gamers solely because of how far games have advanced and how cryptic this game can feel in a modern sense
Zelda: A Link to the Past just hits me so hard no matter how many times I come back to it. Some may say it's just nostalgia, I was just the right age at the right time when it came out. Maybe so, but the impact feels like so much more. It always feels like such a LIVING, breathing experience. The world of this game feels so alive, it feels like such an "event" to trek through it time and time again. The graphics are so rich and clean and vibrant, it is the peak of styles for the 16-bit systems. In a way I feel like the hype generated by the print magazines of the era really contributed to the experience, and continue to do so to this day. Getting to the Eastern Palace area and meeting Sahasrahla each time always feels like such a landmark point in the adventure. I just want to live in this world forever.

I had a strategy guide for the GBA port and I did so many 100% runs that even like 14 years later I instinctually remember every single heart piece, secret and item. I beat the whole game 100% in like 5 hours on my friend's switch as all my high and drunk friends watched me do it and they cheered Everytime I got a heart. It was fun. Honestly they were glued on it.
Me and this game? We're like this. *does the fingers crossed thing like we're really good friends* It is, and forever will be my favorite Zelda. I won't argue about "best" zelda, but it's my favorite.

This is one game that I've played a handful of times, never beat the game but always wanted too. Every few years I try to start and finish but I don't have the time to really spend playing. Did you beat it? I am the exact same with this game. I think what throws me is my first Zelda game was Windwaker/OOT. I got them right around the same time and when I got the GBA version of LTTP, it just didn't feel the same. I can't tell you how many times I've tried to start this game and only get like an hour in and just stop playing it.
Maybe I'm crazy, but I swear some games it looks like you have varying levels of familiarity/experience. On all of them you play like a pro! But Link to the Past and Ducktales, even the way you walk and approach the game, feels like a whole other level. Like you've beaten them so many times you've lost count. That's my two cents at least!
I’ve played this game so many times and it never gets old. I love it. However I do want to point out that you’ve never mentioned the hidden house in the bottom left of Kakariko Village. If you bomb that left house you’ll find a room with two rats and a ton of stuff that continuously respawns if you leave and come back. Did anyone else know about it???
I can't stress enough of how important a fact of this game is, and it ever only appeared in the french-canadian port of the game. A frozen enemy hit with the Magic Hammer will half the time drop 20 rupees, or magic refills. Unless they drop a key, an enemy stunned with the Quake spell, boomerang or hookshot will ALWAYS drop exactly one rupee.
@@penismightier9278 In the english version, the NPC that hints it says something like "I got rich by defeating a lot of enemies" but in french he says "Did you know stunned enemies drop riches?"

I have to laugh here. Currently did and posting a playthrough of this game but in a different way. Video is paused at the beginning but I'm sure you've talked about the broken bridge glitch. Which is how I did it.
I skipped around at times so I might have just missed it, but I didn't hear you mention the best reason for keeping a faerie in a bottle -- it brings you back to life if you die! I don't know if storing multiple faeries gives you more than one extra life though.
Legend of Zelda link to the past was a fun game..but Super Metroid is still the best game for the SNES..graphics, game play and atmosphere cant be beat
Only had a few SNES games. This was one of them. I dominated this game. Beat it multiple times with 3 hearts and no potions. Got to Ganon with only the Master Sword. He was immune.
This is still my favorite Zelda game to date, while I do love Ocarina of Time and think it was revolutionary, A Link to the Past is Zelda Perfection in my opinion.
49:10 Worth nothing that Bombs will still work on those damaged wall tiles as well as dash attacks. Bombs are required for the slightly damaged versions, however.

Agreed. They definitely nailed it with Ocarina of Time, but I think they nailed it slightly more with A Link to the Past.

I 2nd this. Zelda is my favorite series, but Links Awakening is one I never actually finished (and no I'm not proud of that).

My childhood favorite, I've beaten this game a few dozen times.
I just want to let you know that even though I have beaten many of the games you make videos for, I still watch every one. The way you explain everything very clearly and nicely takes me back to when I would first play these games and be completely lost, with that sense of wonder and excitement. Thank you...also Super Metroid when? 😏

40:50 - For those large cannon balls, you can duck into the openings between the green walls to avoid them. Nothing major, but could save you a potential headache on a first play though.

The brothers that sealed their door up 30:00 there’s actually an easier way to beat the speed course where you don’t have to cut so many bushes.
First go through the middle section which takes you up and left. On your left will be 3 bushes and on the right will be a rock you can’t lift yet. Cut the 3 bushes and walk up to the sign but don’t read it. Press down in front of the sign and you’ll hop over the fence directly into the area where the boy is.
And you can beat it under 15 second.

Still get goosebumps when seeing the master sword getting pulled. So epic. With those woodland animals running around , the fog/ tree shadows. Man. They don’t make em like this anymore.

Did you know about upgrading your bombs and arrows? I swear, I had no idea until this video. I put a few hundred hours into this game when it came out, even going as far as calling Nintendo Power's tip line because I was stuck at some point, and I still had no idea that you could carry more than 10 and 30 bombs and arrows. Love. This. Game.
@@Ivegotwormsinme Yeah, I knew about it. I was curious about what would happen if I just kept throwing rupees in, especially since I would have plenty because I would keep doing in and out of that cave with the thief to get as many as I could carry. After I finally got the fairy to appear, I noticed it would allow me to drop even more at once, so that's what I did.

@@Ivegotwormsinme I think it's because I always had a habit of trying to check along every wall and every object of every area in games. Yeah, it takes forever to get trough games that way, but then you find a lot of secrets! I think the games that give the most reward for that kinda exploration are earlier Final Fantasy games. These days, maps are so MASSIVE, it's hard to do that kinda exploration. It's so hard to 100% anymore without a guide.
Thanks for this guide! I didn't own this until about 2007 when I was working at Sears. One day the crew cleaned out the back room, and I found a handful of sealed games including the GBA version of this game. It wasn't in the inventory and had its price reduced to $0.37, so of course I bought it and the other games. Some I kept, some I sold on Ebay, and I still have that copy but have never beaten it. I have it on the SNES Classic as well, and I always lose my way after getting the Magic Mirror.
As soon as I saw this come up on my feed I just said "Hell, yeah!" to myself and started it right away! By far my favorite Zelda game. So excited to journey along again with you on this one. Keep doing what you do, always such good content!
I immediately hit download so I could enjoy it in the gym without distractions.
My favorite Zelda, I lost count on how many times I've beaten 100% this game, it's such a treasure to me, and I don't need a guide anymore to complete this game. But the moment I saw you uploaded this video, I wanted to watch it just because it's my boy!
Also, I wish to thank you again, this past week I finally beated Zelda 2, and sure was way easier! Death Mountain was horrible, yeah, but the rest was much better and enjoyable (except for going back every time you died haha)

Thanks for this guide, man! I replayed Link to the Past a while back and used this to help me through it and find all the secret items/locations. It's amazing how many secrets are in this game. It's a wonder people could unearth some of these back in the day without a guide! That's probably the experience Miyamoto was going for; the exploration and discovery of wonderful secrets to help you on your journey.
My favorite game, period. A Link Between Worlds is a worthy successor, but for an old guy like myself, it doesn't top the original. Thanks for covering it!
I didn't even play this till 8 years after it came out and it still blew my mind. One of the most epic games ever. Still sticks in my mind certain memories of playing it. The Level 5 and level 7 dungeons were always toughest for me.
I sometimes got the red cane from Dungeon 6 first (without killing that boss usually) just to bypass a block puzzle in number 5 with it.
7 is almost rage inducing to me even these days at a certain point where you had to light 4 torches to open a door while using the stupid pad track to get around. One mistake was usually enough to force me to have to start the puzzle all over again.
@@robertsutherlin-anson8631 OMG Turtle Rock was a literal nightmare as a kid. These days I actually prefer it over the Swamp Palace. By the way, equip the hookshot while on the floaty pad. You get invincibility frames while it shoots out and retracts, so you can avoid taking damage from those rotating fireballs.
Literally a perfect game.

This game is in my top 10 of best games ever made across any platform. From the music to the overall challenge of the game every part of it is amazing.
There´s 24 pieces of heartcontainers. 4 of those make a single container. That doesn´t add up to 8 full hearts somehow. ( around 22:20 or so )

The music was such a huge upgrade. The prologue that plays if you wait at the title screen made me scared it was so ominous. That and the Super Ghouls N' Ghosts intro were always too scary to play in stereo after dark.
Your intros are always amazing, setting the tone and story as well as a mini history lesson. I think it's so well done, ty for all your effort on these.

I never had a SNES as a child, and of my friends who did, only one had this game and we were rarely allowed to play it. But the music stuck with me like glue.
This and Zelda II are my top-tier Zelda games. Fantastic video my dude. You do the Lord's work.

I beat this game again about once a year. It's one of the very few games I consider myself a master of. Truly a legendary game, I still get excited everytime I start a new game

Played and beat this game 100 times, top 3 game for me by far--- but I'm STILL watching this because I want to see if you have any tips or tricks I'm not aware of, since I got this game for SNES when it came out and mastered it without any guides and such. Whenever I play it's on memory, so im sure I'm missing a lot lol
I loved this game, like you I played and beat it a ton of times. I could probably still remember where everything is by memory. Just about every screen has a piece of heart somewhere, but most you can oy get with a certain weapon or item

But I had so much fun playing, figuring out, and beating NES and SNES games 30+ years ago when I was 10, 13, 14, etc... I had school, and a part time job, and football and basketball, but there was no REAL responsibility, no CRAZY stresses ruining my MONTH like after I moved out at 24 years old...and I won't even touch upon stress of your 30s lol...
I try to play a few games every year, 2 years or so., but the best thing I did to help me hold onto that nostalgia, and good, happy vibes was DL to my phone like every damn song and sound effect from this game, Mario World, Super Metroid & Castlevania, and of course, the mother of all video game musics, Final Fantasy "2" & "3" lol... every noise, alert, alarm, etc., my phone makes is some sorta sound effect or theme/song from those games lol ... always provides me with a little flashback of easier, and in many ways, happier times as a teen...
There may be no better alarm noise to wake up to than GODDESS APPEARS from this Zelda game 😆 .... so easy, so peaceful, so calming....

An all time classic of a game. I actually know this game so well, I did a playthrough of a modded version that is both linked to Super Metroid and a Randomizer!

As a kid this game literally felt like an epic adventure that you had to undertake and I spent my days at school talking to friends about the game. We read different gaming magazines and talked to friends outside of school to find all the stuff and “Beat” the game with 100% completion.
As an adult I learned Nintendo released a guide for the game, which would have made the 100% completion far easier but nowhere near as fun.
30 years later, it feels like a guide is mandatory for new gamers solely because of how far games have advanced and how cryptic this game can feel in a modern sense
I remember getting this game when I was younger and could never put it down. Love the Zelda series. I sadly have NEVER played the last two versions.
Zelda: A Link to the Past just hits me so hard no matter how many times I come back to it. Some may say it's just nostalgia, I was just the right age at the right time when it came out. Maybe so, but the impact feels like so much more. It always feels like such a LIVING, breathing experience. The world of this game feels so alive, it feels like such an "event" to trek through it time and time again. The graphics are so rich and clean and vibrant, it is the peak of styles for the 16-bit systems. In a way I feel like the hype generated by the print magazines of the era really contributed to the experience, and continue to do so to this day. Getting to the Eastern Palace area and meeting Sahasrahla each time always feels like such a landmark point in the adventure. I just want to live in this world forever.

someone on Reddit claims that according to the 'Hyrule Historia' book that Link and his Uncle take turns between the bed and the floor, and that they only share when it's cold. He then went on to say that "it's always cold in their house". So take from that what you will =P

I had a strategy guide for the GBA port and I did so many 100% runs that even like 14 years later I instinctually remember every single heart piece, secret and item.
I beat the whole game 100% in like 5 hours on my friend's switch as all my high and drunk friends watched me do it and they cheered Everytime I got a heart. It was fun.
Honestly they were glued on it.

This is one game that I've played a handful of times, never beat the game but always wanted too. Every few years I try to start and finish but I don't have the time to really spend playing. Watching this video, I'm going to try to finish the game once and for all. This is a great channel, keep it up and looking forward to the next!

Did you beat it? I am the exact same with this game. I think what throws me is my first Zelda game was Windwaker/OOT. I got them right around the same time and when I got the GBA version of LTTP, it just didn't feel the same. I can't tell you how many times I've tried to start this game and only get like an hour in and just stop playing it.
Maybe I'm crazy, but I swear some games it looks like you have varying levels of familiarity/experience. On all of them you play like a pro! But Link to the Past and Ducktales, even the way you walk and approach the game, feels like a whole other level. Like you've beaten them so many times you've lost count. That's my two cents at least!

I’ve played this game so many times and it never gets old. I love it. However I do want to point out that you’ve never mentioned the hidden house in the bottom left of Kakariko Village. If you bomb that left house you’ll find a room with two rats and a ton of stuff that continuously respawns if you leave and come back. Did anyone else know about it???
Hey, a tip you missed: thrown items are equivalent to a level 3 sword attack!
I can't stress enough of how important a fact of this game is, and it ever only appeared in the french-canadian port of the game.
A frozen enemy hit with the Magic Hammer will half the time drop 20 rupees, or magic refills.
Unless they drop a key, an enemy stunned with the Quake spell, boomerang or hookshot will ALWAYS drop exactly one rupee.
Why would they change that? That's stupid.
@@penismightier9278 In the english version, the NPC that hints it says something like "I got rich by defeating a lot of enemies" but in french he says "Did you know stunned enemies drop riches?"

The Legend of Zelda A Link To The Past was the first game I got on my new SNES System when the system first came out. Absolutely loved it!❤
I skipped around at times so I might have just missed it, but I didn't hear you mention the best reason for keeping a faerie in a bottle -- it brings you back to life if you die! I don't know if storing multiple faeries gives you more than one extra life though.
Legend of Zelda link to the past was a fun game..but Super Metroid is still the best game for the SNES..graphics, game play and atmosphere cant be beat
Only had a few SNES games. This was one of them. I dominated this game. Beat it multiple times with 3 hearts and no potions. Got to Ganon with only the Master Sword. He was immune.
This is still my favorite Zelda game to date, while I do love Ocarina of Time and think it was revolutionary, A Link to the Past is Zelda Perfection in my opinion.

49:10 Worth nothing that Bombs will still work on those damaged wall tiles as well as dash attacks. Bombs are required for the slightly damaged versions, however.
