    Episode 75
After a highly successful trilogy of Mega Man games on the NES, Capcom wasn't done yet! You may think that by the fourth game in the series there wouldn't be much room for innovation, but this game marks a major turning point in the series - the introduction of the chargeable Mega Buster!
A new primary weapon was only first in a long list of new additions. Mega Man 4 also features a new villain for mega man to battle - the mysterious Dr. Cossack!
So how did this amazing sequel get made? In today's episode we'll find out, then we'll dive deep into the game play where we'll learn:
    * The BEST way to finish EVERY STAGE!
    * SECRETS of Mega Man's new inventory - Unlock the power in your sub weapons!
    * Where to find EVERY hidden item!
    * Helpful MAPS for every level!
    * The SECRET GLITCH that makes the auto-scrolling stage simple!
    * How to make Mega Man FLY using the Rush Marine!
    * Learn different ways to soft lock the game so you can safely avoid them!
    * The BEST strategies for defeating EVERY BOSS... even DR. COSSACK himself!
    Thanks for watching!

i remember when this game was featured in Video and Arcade Top 10. (an old series that was aired in Canada back in the 90's. 4 kids would play a video game in question, but they'd also be playing for a viewer at home. if memory serves me properly, the winner of the "competition" in question, was whoever got the furthest in the game (or got the most points if that wasn't an option) and not only would that kid get a copy of the game, the viewer they were playing for would get one as well.
my name was drawn for this game, and the kid playing on my behalf won, thus i got a free copy as well.

When I fought Dive Man, I usually just look at his mouth as weird as it sounds. When he opens it, it indicates he's going to shoot missiles at you. When it's closed, that's when he's going to charge at you. That's just my trick, but still an easy fight nonetheless. I can't wait til he gets to Mega Man V one day, which ALL the robot masters are pushovers.

The first Mega Man is unquestionably the most difficult of the classic series, simply because it was the 1st entry of the series and there wasn't an established way of doing things.
However, if you include ALL the games from the classic series, then Mega Man & Bass would be the hardest.

@@meekd53 Funny you mentioned that. I thought Mega Man 2 was the easiest of them all. The first Mega Man is one of the tougher ones for sure.
But after watching many longplays of Mega Man 4 is that it is really tough if you don't use the other weapons and just stick to using the mega buster through most of the game. Mega Man 2 and 3 can be beat much more easily by using the mega buster throughout the stages (except for the bosses of course). I hope I makes sense.

The first 6 NES/Famicom games had a compilation rerelease in Japan as "Rockman Complete Works", which had a lot of music tracks remixed for the games. There was a bonus feature for the game which used the sadly-failed Pocketstation to enhance Megaman's stats.

Awesome, first a link to the past and now the continuation of the mega man series my all time favorites from my personal golden era of gaming. This channel is awesome. Just two more mega mans and Castlevania’s to go to complete the circle lol. I don’t even watch tv anymore I fall asleep to this channel playing through all its videos every night on my tv.
My nes collection includes about 500 games most bought when I was younger and the system was out and throughout the years. I had all the nes mega mans 1-6 bought when they released (I was a older kid with a job in the late 80’s so I’d buy a handful of games every couple weeks and built a massive collection). Unfortunately after I retired from the military a few years ago mega man 1 and 5 went missing in the move back home and now they are ridiculously expensive which is asinine these aren’t rare by any stretch of the imagination just people artificially inflating price. Sorry I’m not paying rare game prices for games that literally were million plus print runs and are everywhere. I’m pretty sure movers jacked them to sell on eBay it sucks I like playing on the original system and they were some of my most prized games.

When this game was released the NES still had some great games to play. The SNES was out, so maybe Megaman 4-6 could've been made for it.

I got this for my this for my 9th birthday, it was the first Mega Man game I had ever owned, and it is my favorite Mega Man. I love learning all it's secrets and ways to beat the bosses, I remember beating the game for the first time, using the mega buster, because I had no idea that the drill weapon could explode early lol. I'll never forget seeing the ending and loving it cheese and lol. Side note dive missile will also kill the electric ground enemy as well. I love you videos as they are some of the best and most in depth I've ever watched. Thank you for posting!

Man, I needed this like 3 months ago! I was playing 1-6 on the Legacy Collection and I used your videos when I needed help. I had to actually learn this stuff on my own with 4-6 😂. Now I know my way around these games pretty well but you're so entertaining and always know stuff that I don't so I always enjoy these videos.
Also, I'm sure you have an enormous backlog but I'm wondering if you'd consider putting Mega Man 9 and 10 on your list of possible games? I think they're very good additions to the series and are interesting since they were added so late. I'm not sure if your audience would be into it though because I know a lot of old school guys are kind of iffy on those games so I totally understand if we never get around to them.

11:30 you can actually use Wire against this Wily Machine. Just stay under the hovership and fire Wire above you so it hits the glowing weak spot.
I thinks full Wire could take out half of his health.

There is another, albeit tedious and risky, method of defeating the second form of the skull machine: the wire adapter. Standing under the machine, you can fire the wire up to the weakness. Depending on the machine’s movement you might get two hits, one as the wire goes up and another when it comes back down. However, Megaman can’t move when the wire is deployed, so you’re a sitting duck for any attacks. You have to hang out on the right edge of the machine’s horizontal range and just wait for it to move over you. Fire the wire up and hope for the best.
When I beat this game the first time, I actually figured out this method and used it to defeat the boss. I was renting the game, and didn’t have the manual to tell me that drill bombs could be exploded in flight. I had barely used the drill bomb because I took on Drill Man last, and I am very conservative with weapon energy not knowing what weaknesses the bosses have. On the Skull Machine, I saw the drill bombs bounce off, so I cycled through all the other weapons and saw that nothing worked. I concluded that you had to use the buster and kept getting killed. Then I had the idea for the wire. It was annoying to defeat it that way, but at least I had a more safe spot to try to attack it. Only much later did I realize drill bombs could be exploded in flight. I don’t know how long I spent trying to defeat the Skull Machine with the wire, but it can be done!

I was wondering if someone was gonna mention the wire method. I too didn't know the drill bombs could explode before impact so I also got the idea to use the wire. It was very time consuming and it made this boss much more difficult.

21:02 -- I personally like to hang out on the ladder, then when the flip top guy (aka Eddie) spits out an item, if I don't like it I can climb down and back up from there. Lather rinse repeat until Eddie.. or the flip top guy.. gives me something desirable (y'know like a 1up or an energy tank)
