I loved the fact that Bolt found out he was just as normal as a dog gets, and he was loved just the same. I got Bolt, T-rex and Mittens plushies, watched the film two times a week and enjoyed it every time, with shivers down my spine in the "barking in the vent to be noticed" scene.
Gosh the "Barking at the Moon" scene makes me cry everytime I watch it. I don't think Bolt left much of an impression on me as a kid, but watching it now that I'm older hits different.
I was obsessed with the different colours of German Shepherds back then, especially the solid white colour. When I saw the cover image of Bolt, I knew I had to watch it. It's definitely not the most amazing movie I've seen, but I loved the scenes of Bolt. He was just the cutest.

Ok hear me out can we give this the Lightyear treatment since our lovable furry protagonist was an actor believing to be the super dog "Bolt", I want to see the a movie based on his tv show. It would probably be awesome and it doesn't have the disadvantage of needing to be relevant to the time period it came out, or having the heavy expectations that toy story gained though its Trilogy since its not held in high regards.
The CGI ages *really* well, too. Sure, it looks...janky. Like someone tumbled it through the washing machine. But compared to the glassy stiltedness of Strange World, it looks cozy and comfortable. Home movie-esque.

I definitely underrated Bolt as a kid. I remember being disappointed that it wasn’t the action thriller the intro made it out to be and being bored with the rest of the film because I was wanting superhero-like fight scenes. I’m sure if I rewatched it today I’d enjoy it a lot more, and that’s probably the only real issue with it. The target demographic, kids, aren’t as likely to want the more nuanced Truman Show + Found Family plot they’re given once they get hooked on the action opening, and as such it really appeals to a more mature audience it probably wasn’t marketed towards.
Interesting you say that, as I've wondered the same thing when analyzing people's thoughts on the movie. It seems that if you were young enough, you'd be absolutely hooked/obsessed, thinking back fondly on it without remembering or understanding some of the deeper messaging. And if you were old enough, you'd appreciate different things like the music, the art style, and the based takes on the Hollywood machine (among others). But sometimes being in the middle, folks were often left disappointed, wanting the action packed super-dog movie. As this video shows, it's a shame really, since this is an often forgotten gem of a movie by so many people. With that said, if you have the opportunity, go watch it again! Preferably in an HD format with good sound for maximum effect.

One of my favourite songs of all time is Barking At The Moon. However, I prefer the spanish version of the song. I just feel that it is sweeter, and its lyrics fit better.
I watched it recently. It was good. Not great, but good for sure. Similar ideas have been done better in the many years since this was releassed, but this explored its ideas pretty well. However, more nuanced would have made it better. Still, you have to keep in mind when it came out the general idea was more fresh at that time and the execution was done well, so for sure give it a see.
THANK YOU know one love bolt and meet the Robinson was underrated as well and super creative . Even chicken little only mediocre for a Disney movie there was still plenty of heart that went into it. And the 2D dark age just had no business existing . Brother bear , Princess and the frog , alatis and treasure planet were all spectacular and even home on the range was not that bad . And I remember it fondly

I loved this movie growing and it's still one of my favorite films from that time along with Meet the Robinsons.

That era of Disney is underrated overall sure we have a few bad movies like chicken little but we still have plenty of good movies like this one
