Treasure Planet is amazing and was always a favourite as a kid and I loved Atlantis as a kid. And Lilo and Stich... well I saw most of the sequels and the cartoon before the original film, anyone else have that experience?

Very early 2000’s is my favorite Disney Era. Aside from Atlantis, all these films stood the test of time. Treasure Planet amazing, Lilo and Stitch perfection, Emperor’s New Groove comedy still holds up today. These were the first films I ever saw in theaters.

  • @user-oc7dl9or8f

Some of the movies you mentioned here I really never got into, but "Lilo and Stitch" is a movie I really, really like, I haven't seen all the sequels but the first movie is amazing, "The Princess and the Frog" Tiana is a Disney princess I really like and the songs in the movie are perfect
And.....-"Chicken Little" is a cult movie for me! I grew up on this movie and I love it. It's a genius movie in my opinion. It's a shame that not many people like it

Lilo & Stich is my favorite Disney movie and I've seen all 3 of the sequels. 2 of them are the introduction and finale of the animated series(which I haven't seen) Those 2 are pretty forgettable but Lilo & Stich: Stich gets a glitch is a solid sequel and definitely worth a watch. I also grew up watching Chicken Little. Come think of it those were probably my first exposures to sci fi one of my favorite genres!

Lilo and Stitch is one of my absolute favourite Disney films, definitely top 5 at least, if not the outright favourite. So for that alone I respect the 2000s Disney era although I have to say it really wasn’t the best time for the studio overall, I like most of the films but it also has some of the worst Disney has out out like Chicken Little and Home on the Range

Lilo & Stich is my favorite Disney movie the blended family story really resonated with me. Treasure Planet was one a gave a chance 2 years ago and it was incredible except for one thing the main couple. I'm not usually one to complain about romance in movies even when it's unnecessary but (forgive me their names escape me) the Dog Professor and the Cat Captain really rub me the wrong way. It's because I'm 100% convinced Cat Captain and og Rock Captain were married. Everything about their dynamic screamed married couple in their prime. It was SPOILER so sad when he died and the focus on her reaction was heart wrenching. I was able to cope, until they started to pair her with the Dog Professor it felt disrespectful and Rock Captain, to my memory, was never mentioned again.

The problem with Atlantis is that the story either needed to be drastically simplified with half of the characters cut, or it needed to be a 2-2.5 hour film. There was simply too many characters and too much plot to cover in 90 minutes. As a result, everything in the film felt shallow and it was hard to care about anything.

Treasure Planet is one of my top favorite Disney movies along with Great Mouse Detective and performed badly because Disney delibritely threw it under the bus
They spoiled any surprises in the trailer and then released it opposite Harry Potter…I never got into it but plenty of people did and that is where the crowds went
I think Disney can pull off sci-fi in their movies if they just put in the effort…TP was and still is a beautiful movie and I have actually heard a lot of good things about Atlantis…the sequel was just a failed series attempt like they did with Tarzan…and this lack of effort is why Strange Planet failed…I saw a preview and instantly thought “looks like a stupid movie not worth seeing”…that is my opinion of course but if they rely on immature jokes and keep watering down the story no genre of movie they release will do well

  • @monster-mecha_enthusiast_2002

Welp, I am born in 2002 after all and honestly? I'm not so ashamed at all about having the Pixar movies along with *my* favorite live action movies like the Pirates of the Carribean trilogy and Narnia duology and my favorite 2000s animated guilty pleasures of Disney such as Treasure Planet,Lilo & Stitch,Brother Bear,Dinosaur,Atlantis: The Lost Empire,Bolt,Meet The Robinsons,A Christmas Carol 2009,Home on the Range,Chicken Little, and The Wild all being my first introductions/exposures to Disney including my favorite program block from Toon Disney called Jetix since that channel's what also gotten me into Power Rangers and Digimon in the first place and of course my favorite Disney media in the 2010's like TRON: Legacy because the soundtrack's my first introduction to Daft Punk,Disney XD, and of course my favorite guilty pleasures from the Revival era such as Winnie the Pooh 11',Wreck-It Ralph, and Big Hero 6 unlike what the tradition elitist-infested Disney fandom would say about me because of how I run my Disney preferences while they would just make fun of me for it-
Don't get me wrong, I still love Disney and all?
But sometimes I just wish those Golden-to-Renaissance Disney movie gatekeeping purists would just get off of my back whenever I enjoy revisiting my favorite Disney media that doesn't have to do with theirs alot otherwise? I'd start making fun of their preferences just to see how they like it, and besides, Winnie the Pooh was the only Disney classic I've always counted on because unlike all the other Disney classics such as the Princesses and other Fairy Tales that do nothing for me but embarrass me to death? Winnie the Pooh was always the only Disney classic to make me smile :)
Plus, the critics, audience, and the box office's negative thoughts on *my* favorite Disney and Pixar movies never meant anything to me since I never in my listened to what they had to say ever since childhood, and if saying this kind of nonsense causes me to bring shame upon Walt's lousy legacy because of Traditionalism not being my style compared to being more of a "having fun"-type of Disney fan? so be it lol.

You know what, most of the 00s films were actually really great and should've been on the same level of success and popularity as the Renaissance, but didn't get the attention that they deserved. The Emperor's New Groove, Atlantis the Lost Empire, Lilo and Stitch, Treasure Planet, and The Princess and the Frog were amazing. Brother Bear, Home on the Range and Meet the Robinsons weren't bad, and Chicken Little and Bolt just weren't good.
