My big brother brought this single to the rest of us very excited!..."gather round! Listen to this!!" I was instantly smitten. Nuts! Over Paul ❤❤❤and John❤
I saw Paul singing this with the Beatles in June 1963 in Birmingham, England and it's still my favourite Beatles song, wonderful to see this happening in Red Square 40 years later
I also saw them perform live in the U.K. in 1963 and after the concert the group of us who had attended all looked at each other and said, wow, what was that that we had just witnessed? The folks that were fortunate to have been at the Red Square that evening will remember it surely as being one the most memorable highlights of their lives.
John and Paul wrote this in Paul's front room when they were around 19 years old. The family piano by the wall, a standard lamp, an art deco fireplace and a comfy old settee with matching armchairs. A little black and white TV in the corner. Three different wallpapers on the wall that his mother Mary had chosen prior to her untimely and very sad death when Paul was just 14. This modest little house was so respectable and so full of soul and his mother's pride. We were overwhelmed to be there. What a privilege it was to join the National Trust tour of his house last week. Thoroughly recommend it. The tour includes Aunt Mimi's house (John's auntie's home) where John grew up. Equally respectable and full of pride, care and soul. You feel so close to John here and his tragic but genius life. Very emotional to be there.

In the DVD, the Russians fans explained how, back in the day, they didn't know which Beatles was which. They guessed. It cost a month's wages to be able to buy a Beatles album. Mikhail Gorbachev went so far as to credit the Beatles with helping to topple socialism.

One of my favorite Beatles songs of all time. It's the classic "boy meets girl" story of initial attraction leading to love done in upbeat Paul McCartney style. I ended up being the lead singer of this song this past Sunday 12-3-23 at Haulover Beach in Miami, Florida, USA. The musicians there were willing to play the song if I would sing it. I agreed.
