Thanks Curtis. I've actually switched to airbrushing the acrylic coat on as I get a nicer even coat for a more even engraving. I found the pens and sharpies leave streaks no matter how many times you go over them. Craft Paint is definitely the cheaper less stinky option..lol But looking into Cermark and some other things to actually get black engravings on glass.. I'll keep you posted! :)
The Laser will not laser on clear glass or clear acrylic. It refracts the light from the laser too much. So it needs a point to be able to focus on and engrave. 😃
Hi, thanks for providing this information. It has helped answer many questions. I do however have two questions... 1. Are there any fumes or smells burning on the paint? 2. My other question pertains to focusing. I have a Creality 10w diode laser which comes with a 3-step focusing tool accessory that slides under the head. These steps are marked "Engrave/Cutting Thickness of Basswood 1-3mm", "Cutting Thickness of Basswood 4-6mm," "Cutting Thickness of Basswood 7-8mm". Any suggestions as how I would focus for plate glass?
I get no fumes at all when using acrylic craft paint. But I’ve always had an exhaust fan off to the side. For your focus , I would assume using the level that says engrave rather than the cut levels. Sorry for the delay in answering, I just got the notification now .😊
If you want an easy way to add color, acrylic paint pens or even sharpies work. I do this on my etched whiskey glasses.

Just getting into laser engraving, your videos have been the most helpful thank you,
I'm glad I could help!! :)
Awesome!
Thank you ☺️
Helpful video just curious why do you have to paint it?

@@disignscdn At what beam do you have it set on for the laser to be strong enough?
@@lauradang2977 with my 5.5 watt I use 85% power at about 2000 speed. With my 10 watt I use 80 - 85% at 2300 speed. :)
@@lauradang2977 its also Dynamic power, not constant power. Constant is for cutting only ;)
Thanks! I have ORTUR Laser Master 2 S2 LU2-2, 24V Laser Engraver. Would you know if my watt is too low that’s why it’s not engraving?
