    I have been wanting to try the single bevels due to the bone breaking and twisting action that occurs at impact. Love the idea of the wide head because I feel like it will produce a larger hole and hopefully cause greater blood trails. I hope this company will soon offer this head as a one peice head with no screw or Ferrell.

      Yep the wide cut singles make a big hole! These guys will probably not make a glue on style anytime soon. That's a whole different set of tooling, jigs, welders, fixtures etc. But thankfully thry are making a wide cut hears rather that the narrow heads everyone else makes

    Jason, nice looking heads. Couple questions:
    1. Do the 2 small screws have a smooth shank where they’re in contact with the ID of the blade holes? Or is it threaded on the entire length of the shank? How tight is the fit between the screw OD and the hole ID?
    2. Is the back edge of the blade sharpened also? It appears to be, but those edges weren’t dipped like the front ones so I wasn’t sure

    • @SamkoTradBow
      @SamkoTradBow  2 года назад +1

      Screws are fully threaded. Very tight fit the blade can not move. Also has the notched rear seat of the blade to the ferrule. Back edge is beveled but not yet sharpened as many states will not allow a sharpened trailing edge. But could be sharpened very quickly if you wanted to.

    Hey Jason what size Allen wrench are you using for these screws? I have been using these heads this season … the last deer I shot was with one of these they are great… I have been using a 1/16 Allen wrench but it seems like over time the Allen wrench is beginning to round out and I cannot tighten the screws. Does this require a metric Allen wrench? Thanks

    • @SamkoTradBow
      @SamkoTradBow  2 года назад

      I've never taken one apart. Why are you taking it apart out of curiosity? I would imagine the screws are locktited in and not ment to be removed unless something is needed to be fixed or replaced. I don't know what Allen wrench size they used.

    • @jessetaylor9758
      @jessetaylor9758 2 года назад +1

      I take them out to sharpen them on stones without the Ferrell getting in the way. Surprisingly these screws were not super tight coming from the company so I would have had to tighten them anyways. I messaged the company and they said it was a 1/16 size.

    They look good, but $95 for 3 is why I went with VPA’s broadheads at $73. Plus the VPAs don’t have any screws to fall out. All good products, but it’s kinda like you buying hunting clothes at Walmart… spend wisely.

    • @SamkoTradBow
      @SamkoTradBow  2 года назад +2

      Vpa is a good head if you want the standard 1 and 1/8 cutting diameter. I will never shoot a head that narrow. So for.me and my money I only buy and use wide heads. Thank God this company realized there is a huge demand for wide single bevels and made them for us. So for me and many of us that lovee wide heads, it's money spent very wisely!

    • @JulienKozak
      @JulienKozak 2 года назад +1

      @@SamkoTradBow I wanted to ask, at what point should I be shooting 1 1/8" vs wider like you prefer? I have a lighter bow at approx 45@26", my arrows are tuned like darts, over 20% FOC, and close to 13GPP. I've been using 3 blades and don't always blow thru deer, though the arrow does eventually fall out the other side and make 2 holes - part of that may be my shots are usually 7-8yds (not stabilizing quickly enough). I'd rather have it blow thru and bury itself in the dirt, so I'd like to switch to 2 blades and see what happens. Just not sure if I should go wide or stay 1 1/8". What do you think, Jason?

    • @JulienKozak
      @JulienKozak 2 года назад

      Nevermind, just saw your video on why you shoot wide broadheads only. I guess I'll try the wide stuff and see how it goes, even with my light setup. My gut tells me that even a wide 2 blade will encounter less resistance than the 3-blade I am using.

    • @SamkoTradBow
      @SamkoTradBow  2 года назад

      @@JulienKozak the wide ones will probably penetrate more than your 3 blade in my opion and they give great blood trails. Complete pass thru on deer are relative to many many variables. I know guys shooting 80 pound longbows that don't get complete pass thrus all the time.
