    Great to see these monsters at work I love steam wish we had some mainline steam locomotives here that ran daily! Great to see a 2-8-0 American locomotive looks like a Baldwin class consolidation.

      Tabourba it’s very good that England preserves American locomotives as well now that I see it more It does look like an alco.

    It is a good few years since I took my son Mark has a boy on the NYMR. We were on holiday at Filey and this day did not look that good. On the way to Pickering the sun came out and the weather got better. We had a great ride up to Gothland and met some very nice people on the train. I well remembered traveling up on the line with my dad years before on our way to Whitby for a fishing holiday long before Beaching had his way with his recommendations for BR. Good memories of the past that will live forever.

    10 mph slack just outside Goathland can't be very convenient. 76079 still living up to its name of the 'Pocket Rocket'; seven coaches for a 4Mt is very good going.

    Lots of seriously dark smoke. Using Anthracite coal?

    • @mattseymour8637
      @mattseymour8637 5 лет назад

      It's not anthracite they use a bituminous steam coal which is probably Scottish or polish and can be quite smokey and up a gradient you need a big fire!

    These are great pieces of video work from the point of just being there at the right time in the right place and having the camera on a nice fluid head, and that’s apart from all the time it takes to capture just what we see, Thank you.

    • @mobius8002
      @mobius8002 5 лет назад

      do you mean the driving wheels or the actual men driving it .the driving wheels are approx. 5 foot 3 inches but I will have to look it up .that's for the st4mt the 2.6.0.that loco is one of my favorites.
