    You do nice work. I watched three of your vids today, and subscribed. This memory one is a little short on detail though...unless I missed it, you never said what the speed and CAS latency for stock RAM were. So when you go from 16gb dual channel to 64gb, I wonder if the real improvement isn't from lower latency and higher clock, than from _more_ RAM. Will connect on other vids as appropriate. Thanks, and again, nice work.

    I've just installed it and done a few tests, I don't play video games but I do 3d modelling. With the 16GO setup, it was very long or even impossible to import heavy STL files on fusion 360 or generate gcode in Cura. But now the Kingston fury Impact is a game changer, 100% plug and play, I didn't need to change anything in the bios. Every single task is quicker with the 64GO, I could even Import and modify the heaviest STL file I found on Thingiverse and could modify it in F360 and generate a g code in Cura in just a few secs. The graphics aren't logging, it's so smooth! ( my Strix G15 is a 513IH )

    I have the same laptop but the QHD early 2022 variant & i read somewhere that they have upgraded the RAM on this one. So, can you please tell me how I can check if my RAM is slower and needs an upgrade ?

    • @SolDoesTech
      @SolDoesTech  Год назад

      Hello and thank you for the question. The way I understand the RAM issue with this model is that when the laptop was first released it was shipped with 1x16GB which caused performance issues. they then fixed it and shipped the laptop with 2x8GB. I don't think they ever went a step further and delivered better performing RAM. So if you have 2x8GB then you are in good shape and you can see the benchmarks results in my video to figure out if you want to upgrade even more. To find out if you have 2x8GB right click the start button then select "Task Manager" make sure that "More details" is expanded and then click on the "Performance" tab, from the left side select "Memory" and then on the right side it should say "Slots used: 2 of 2". Thank you for watching!

    Hi, I have an Asus Strix g15, 5900HX Ryzen 9 16gb ram 512ssd. I want to upgrade the ram but I looked online and they were saying that if I upgrade it to 32gb(total) the laptop will ONLY run 16gb. I was wondering if itll damage my laptop in the long run. Thanks

    • @SolDoesTech
      @SolDoesTech  Год назад +2

      Hello and thank you for the comment. I have another video here ruclips.net/video/x-KkK2MgLNE/видео.html showing an upgrade to 64GB when Asus was saying only 32GB is possible. So I would assume you would be able to go to 32GB with no issue. When you upgrade any component you are risking running the machine a bit hotter but with the fans and sensors in the machine the risk of damaging it is very low, your fans might kick on a bit more or run a bit faster if the machine is warmer so at worst case battery life may go down a bit. An upgrade from 16GB to 32GB would have minimal impact on thermals in my opinion but again something you should keep an eye on with your upgrade (take a look in Armory Crate prior and after to track heat). Good luck with your upgrade and thank you for watching!

    A little warning to those planning to upgrade their memory. Most manufacturers on Amazon have a rank lottery, you will either get single or dual rank(which is better). If you planning 64gb then you should have no problem, since 64gb is almost always dual rank for each 32gb stick.

    • @vancemah8407
      @vancemah8407 Год назад +1

      Also the stock memory you have is single rank, so that’s probably the biggest reason for the FPS boost with your dual rank 64gb

      @@SolDoesTechsingle rank? Or single channel? Dual channel only works if the board supports dual channel memory modules (never sticks) 2x single channel modules should still be OK for dual channel.
      Dual channel would mist likely be a pair that have been tested to have the same parameters. Max threshold, consistently identical when single would be just 1x of.

    Rank and channel are not the same
    The laptop always came in dual channel but the ram had a lottery there were three variants of the ram that you could get with the g15 advantage that being samsung single rank x16(btw this is the cluster density not the capacity) which was the worst offender with atrocious subtimings single rank x16 from micron which wasnt as bad but still pretty bad and single rank x8 from micron which was decent and only a few % behind dual rank ram

    • @kickskii
