I am a music lover of the 70s and 80s, Ultravox is a group of revolutionaries who turned the directions of punk rock and became the ancestor of the culture of music, I love ULTRAVOX and listen to it with pleasure so far and I am 65 years old ...
An absolute phenomenal classic from the electro synth era early eighties. Beautifuly haunting and poignant it brings back the memories of my younger days. Wonderful wonderful wonderful. 🙏❤🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧❤🙏💎💎💎
Absolutely classic. One of the most beautiful melodies I heard from the past century. I never was a techno music fan but when you've got a strong tune, no matter how style you put it in, it will be great anyway.
Vienna is still my all-time favourite song by Ultravox soon as I hear it on the telly or the radio I turn it up full boar, it still gives me the goosebumps this song! just love it!❤❤❤
Maybe it's just me, but I don't feel he's ever really got the credit he deserved as a vocalist, in the UK. The notes in this song are so hard and he hits them with every live performance I've watched on RUclips.
Just everything! This song is amazing and always has been. What a great early version, from the ways he works the microphone to that crazy finger work on the piano. Midge Ure is a smooth human 😍
And SO difficult to switch back and forth. Violin 🎻 must be perfectly in tune or intonation is a freakin’ nightmare. The volume must also be loud enough to the player to make sure the notes are in tune. Billy was the best. That violin part should’ve really been much longer, a bridge..
+drsnypejsek must been a bitch with this old equip. just saw a a 2 year old docu on Conny Plank and his son Stefan said that many adjustments and gadgets were assembled to make all this tech work circa 1980/81. amazing that it did work mostly but complicated with the eras limitations.
Not short lived at all? it stayed in the charts for ages, though unfortunately just kept off number 1. It's a very very famous song and the band were pretty big back then.
Recently went to an A-ha concert in Germany and felt the same way. The audience just sat there but I got up and moved-how can you not. The same with Ultravox-they strike something visceral in me.
My other half is Eastern European, try explaining Ultravox, Gary Numan, U2, John Foxx, Human League and OMD I WANT SOOOOOOOOO Much to take her to a concert of one of these groups lol....ps let me know.
+Vincent de Guard I nearly fucking choked to death laughing at the daft sod!! Fair enough this was 35 years ago but seriously, dressing like that required some balls, a bet or a shit load of stupidity!
Fantastic performance...do you know the date it was broadcasted?. I am a great Ultravox fan and i am collecting all of their TV performances and this one is VERY RARE...
This looks to be 100% live to me. Regarding the violin solo, Billy Currie picks up the violin just before he plays the solo, and Midge Ure fills in on keyboards. At the end of the solo, Currie has a couple bars to hand the violin to an assistant, and he resumes playing keyboards. It's almost possible to see in this video, but if you watch Ultravox's performance at Live Aid, the violin hand off is well documented.
I think the crowd is dead inside! 😒...Why aren't they moving at all?! 🤨 I'm alive inside when I hear Vienna, so I don't know what kind of sedatives they took or why they hate extremely beautiful music? 🤷♀️ 🤷 🤷♂️
Rest In Peace, Chris. Lost you much too soon. Billy Currie is outstanding! Our band had the honor of opening one of their shows on the Vienna tour.

Epic live version, so underrated as a vocalist.
I saw him do this LIVE last year. Still note-perfect. Doesn't need Ultravox these days, his 3-piece live band are excellent.
A musical genius in his time. Most underrated singer of this decade in my view. He should have been knighted too for his work on Band Aid.
Band Aid? You mean Live Aid!
Such a voice! What a song! Still love it decades later.
That violin solo is so pretty can’t stop watching it!! Billy is truly the maestro
Yes, saw this song on the Vienna tour in 1980! I was right in front! A club in Phoenix Arizona. Incredible band for sure...🌹🖤🌹
Interesting, they did gigs in the US back then?
Who in 2021 still loves VIENNA?
The image quality of the 1980s makes me feel nostalgic. And Ultravox has brilliance! ❤️
one of my first live bands I saw back in 1981.They where great times. Vienna should of been number 1.
It certainly should have.

Well said.💪
@@allthatjazz-7that's why I'm still here listening 🎶 to this gem 💎 👍😎👍🏴🇬🇧 jun twenty four
The most underrated band of the modern era.
Indeed. Songs that I had heard but had no context for. Glad that I now know and can revel in such goodness.
Indeed. Songs that I had heard but had no context for. Glad that I now know and can revel in such goodness.
Best guitar I've heard Midge play and on his legendary black strat..he back!
Wow! They ooze talent, style and artistry! Thank you Ultravox for your gift to us mere mortals.
Sounds as mesmerizing now as it did when I first heard it in 1981.
Absolutely classic. One of the most beautiful melodies I heard from the past century. I never was a techno music fan but when you've got a strong tune, no matter how style you put it in, it will be great anyway.
Do you know what beauty is? That's beauty.

Vicky Groves I totally agree with you... he is such a great singer!! Love his voice😍
Vicky Groves Midge is more popular in the States.
I saw him last month on the 1980 tour, he still Has the amazing voice, better now than ever!
@@davidhenrylake2047 Ummm. Not so much. I mean, I love him, but I hadn't heard much about him until I got lost in RUclipsLand.
No it didn't! , But someone got their palm greased for Joe dulce keeping this off number one
Just everything! This song is amazing and always has been. What a great early version, from the ways he works the microphone to that crazy finger work on the piano. Midge Ure is a smooth human 😍
When the song was virtually new, imagine how many times Midge has performed this classic down the years
That audience absolutely loved that. Look at their totally entranced expressions at the beginning, probably never heard anything like it before.
I love this so much , these lads blow my mind, how good are they . Could Midge look anymore sexier , wowza :)
The reason I bought the Album, been a fan of Midge ever since 👌🏻😎
Billie Currie one of my favorite keyboardists
W O W .......Goose bumps on gooses bumps !
To be honest Midge’s voice has got better over the years (difficult as it was wonderful to start with !)
I love ❤ synthesizers🎹🎹🎹
So do I as new ultravox I use few things👽😊😎
Just as good as a studio performance, can't say that about a lot of groups these days.
Best live performance? Certainly that I've seen so far. Brilliant. Defo underrated band too.
Live Aid was good, too.
I love Ultravox!
this is a gem, fantastic performance. ...
Gorgeous. Love the raw sound of the viola.
This is great, the slightly lo-fi recording pick up more of the synth sounds that you miss on the studio and other live recordings.
I am their big fan since 80s
Absolutely fantastic.
That moment in a serious electronic song where Billy breaks out the violin.....
Brilliant performance.💖Love Ultravox and Midge Ure's singing is seductive, sexy and lush at the same time.
MASTERPIECE
The close up of guy wearing sunglasses...kinda...makes him look like a weirdo...or stalker...but song is...just brilliant...they truly are pioneers
What a gem... thanks for uploading!
Now that's passion!
OMG. Midge.
Brilliant song
....great video.....!!!
Such style..the for posting!@
Vienna feat Midge Ure / Schiller / Symphonia check it out , Vienna at its BEST EVER.
Gaz Newcastle.
Creo que soy la única de mi generación que conoce y ama este tema.

1980? So before it got to number 2 in the charts! Amazing!
Wow, what a performance.
I'll be seeing him live next week on the 1980 tour
TOTALLY SHOCKED
Midge ure❤
Outstanding...
Yes
This song should have been bigger than Bohemian Rhapsody, but the ignorant public preferred Joe Dolce.
Lol.. I remember that shite on TOTP... they had lyrics on cards so the audience could sing along..and kept this classic off No1...
Go Billie
Thank god for you tube
Мы вас знаем и. Любим!!!!)))))))))
awsome
Wow!!
best live perform in tv ever
WOW! :D
WOW
wow, so many keyboards they managed to handle together!
+drsnypejsek must been a bitch with this old equip. just saw a a 2 year old docu on Conny Plank and his son Stefan said that many adjustments and gadgets were assembled to make all this tech work circa 1980/81. amazing that it did work mostly but complicated with the eras limitations.
Vienna
Lisa Wright
Ahhh Vienna
A band can never have enough keyboards :D
Billie Currie yeah!
I thought the studio version couldn't be topped. I stand corrected!
This must've been very short lived.....never heard of it but what a brilliant performance, as usual!!!!
Not short lived at all? it stayed in the charts for ages, though unfortunately just kept off number 1. It's a very very famous song and the band were pretty big back then.
I'm talking about the show they appeared on, not the song!! I never heard of the program.......
+twisted whisker ah I see haha, I get you
Introduced by Kelly Monteith who had a comedy show on the BBC around then
Warren looks good in white
They all do! This is the total package. Song, performance, looks.
I'm a Midge Ure fan as well as a John Foxx fan
❤
is this the great Mark Hollis in the audience at 3:35??
If not it’s his double rip mark
I saw this band at Bogarts in Cincinnati this same tour. Needless to say the crowd wasn't sitting in chairs like a bunch of zombies.
Recently went to an A-ha concert in Germany and felt the same way. The audience just sat there but I got up and moved-how can you not. The same with Ultravox-they strike something visceral in me.
This wasn’t a tour
Nice. Now, if only had a time machine.
Based on 'just for a moment' , an earlier song by Ultravox
My other half is Eastern European, try explaining Ultravox, Gary Numan, U2, John Foxx, Human League and OMD I WANT SOOOOOOOOO Much to take her to a concert of one of these groups lol....ps let me know.
Lol those are some cool cats in the audience
anybody got the whole gig of this ?
4:14 haha ...get real!
+Vincent de Guard I nearly fucking choked to death laughing at the daft sod!!
Fair enough this was 35 years ago but seriously, dressing like that required some balls, a bet or a shit load of stupidity!
+reggiep75 Awesome- not a tattoo in sight.
crapple009 that so true...
What the problem?
margus kiis He looks like the UK TV personality 'Keith Lemon'. If you're not aware of him, google him.
This fella looks bloody stupid too!
Fantastic performance...do you know the date it was broadcasted?. I am a great Ultravox fan and i am collecting all of their TV performances and this one is VERY RARE...
whoever did their makeup certainly wasn't shy lol
....@ 1:25
0:59 Dr. Octopus?
Just wondering which synths did they used on this Gem?
Great performance! By the way what did happen to Kelly Monteith
Suave
playback - still love it : )
+Jay L Parts of it is. Pretty sure that was not a live violin for example.
This looks to be 100% live to me. Regarding the violin solo, Billy Currie picks up the violin just before he plays the solo, and Midge Ure fills in on keyboards. They think that Ultravox is like Madonna or Britney Spears...
Outstanding but needed the piano
Educational purposes only???
...get around clause for copyright
I think the crowd is dead inside! 😒...Why aren't they moving at all?! 🤨
I'm alive inside when I hear Vienna, so I don't know what kind of sedatives they took or why they hate extremely beautiful music? 🤷♀️ 🤷 🤷♂️
The crowd is not dead inside, it is flabbergasted, mesmerized by the sound and range of Midge's voice. And the should be.
Milo ventimiglio doppelganger?
Try and find a band today with a lead singer that has a better voice than Midge Ure.
