The Ed Sullivan Show was a television variety program that aired on CBS from 1948-1971. For 23 years it aired every Sunday night and played host to the world's greatest talents. The Ed Sullivan Show is well known for bringing rock n' roll music to the forefront of American culture through acts like Elvis Presley, The Beatles, and The Rolling Stones. The entertainers each week ranged from comedians like Joan Rivers and Rodney Dangerfield, to Broadway stars Julie Andrews and Richard Burton, to pop singers such as Bobby Darin and Petula Clark. It also frequently featured stars of Motown such as The Supremes, The Temptations, Stevie Wonder and The Jackson 5. The Ed Sullivan Show was one of the only places on American television where such a wide variety of popular culture was showcased and its legacy lives on to this day.

The first song that my twin and I sang in public at age 11. This song will always hold a special place in my heart. The Everly brothers were pure magic!
Gives me shivers to think they were recently in the recording studio creating this legendary song and here we are watching one of their very first public performances of the song.

Not probably. They are the greater duo in history. No-one has matched their harmony yet and probably never will. Today's singing is mostly screaming than singing.
Brilliant harmonies. Not just on this show but every song they recorded. No one will EVER be this good again in our lifetime. They were on UK TV in 1960 with members of the Crickets backing them.
John and Paul were huge fans of the brothers' seamless harmonies. Absolutely brilliant.

Trouble was going to a Beatles concert it was near impossible to hear them over the screams from the girls. Happy days..
I love how Don always lifts his shoulder's when he sings "want" it's adorable. These guys are incredible. Phil's angelic voice that he PERFECTLY harmonizes with Don's voice. Don's voice, like i said on anither video, melts my heart. Both are incredibly handsome. Even more so in color. It's actually pretty crazy how different Don looks in black and white bcuz it shades and shadows those beautiful facial features of his. I was born in 85, but I still have the biggest crush on Don. Most handsome man who ever lived, and yes I am willing to fight anyone who thinks differently. 😋

This performance occurred the same month "All I Have To Do Is Dream" was released. The song would spend 4 weeks at #1 on Billboard's Best Sellers Chart and was still charting when the publication debuted the Hot 100 in August of 1958.
Legendary harmonies combined with an unforgettable song. This might be the Everly Brothers performance I've been looking forward to the most! "All I Have to Do is Dream" is one of their most enduring songs and was a much deserved #1 hit in 1958. Thank you for posting this, and I hope to see more popular song hits of the 1950's on the Sullivan show. Please also post Teresa Brewer singing "I Think the World of You" on this episode which is also one of my favorite records as well. :)

the third 45 i bought in 1958 .preceeded by Chuck Berry and Little Richard. Perfect harmony, wish Ed would have just let them play and sing without the orchestra. RIP brothers.

@@recordguy4321 They have done 1080p restorations of previous clips, like Elvis, Harry Belefonte, Jackson 5, and others. I agree with Vintage TV Memories, they should have done the restorations for the Everly Brothers.
@@JonathanMcKey Thank you. It just looks SO much better in 1080p. 480p crushes the original source material and with RUclips's compression, makes it look awful. It's 2022 and they obviously have access to the sources. So, hopefully we see more GLORIOUS 1080p!
The Everlys were amazing. The only downside is that on their appearances on the Ed Sullivan Show, they always had these crummy orchestral arrangements--ugh. Just the Everlys--their voices and guitars--was enough.

No, DON'T! Colorizations are horrible! DeOldify does not colorize properly as it does not have a color reference, just guesses and fails miserably, and it takes away the timing of the show and unwantedly modernizes it. Pardon my choice of words, some may be confused by what I am saying. Some will get it though.
