Happy April! Thank you to Wildgrain for sponsoring. Get $30 off your first box + free croissants for life using my link wildgrain.com/CONNOISSEUR AND code CONNOISSEUR. I hope you enjoyed today's video. Thank you for watching! Love, Jennifer
I'm from Appalachia with some Native American ancestry and around here, we're told to be quiet and still during storms. From my understanding, it's to respect the power of the storm and nature, and to just revel in nature for a moment. You just sit and listen to the storm, and take it all in. I think it's wonderful practice. I heard someone from here say once that their grandmother used to say it was because "the rain will answer your questions." I just love that! No matter what I'm doing, if there's a storm, I take time to listen ❤
I absolutely love this. Thank you for sharing this ♥
Me too! When I was a little girl my grandmother would make me lie down and be still during thunderstorms lol I would always fall asleep 😂
Thank you, I love this!
I’m African American and Cherokee in North Carolina. My greatgrandmother taught me this in the seventies. I still practice it. ♥️
So interesting! Although I’ve never been taught this, I intuitively stop and quietly watch a storm. It’s almost like I’m just compelled to. If it’s a long storm I will read a book or nap through it.
I've always loved the way the earth smells after a good rainstorm. It's cleansing and awesome, full of power and beauty. 🌩🌧⛈
I am glad I’m not the only one who loves nature’s power and mystery. When a storm is brewing, right before the rain, I love to stand outside and feel the wind whipping all around. You can smell the rain coming too. It’s a wonderful feeling, so exhilarating!
Yes I love this feeling too. Kinda scary and exciting.
I really appreciate your videos..they are so inspiring and calm. Please never quit youtube.
I also appreciate that you inspire to not take anything for granted but to be thankful and see something special in each day.
Greetings, Dani from Europe
Thank you so much, Dani! ♥
I love how your description of the storm parallels our life’s storms, sometimes arriving (usually) when not in the forecast. Also, it is encouraging that something beautiful like a pearl can come out of something that is an irritant. Thank you for this lovely, poetic video.
Thank you! Yes, I was really feeling the "storms not in the forecast" issue♥
Praise God He commands us to rest and do no regular work on the Sabbath and to keep it holy❣️🥰💕🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻💕
Thank you, Jennifer. The way you describe standing on the edge of the storm is exactly how I feel in my life right now. The LORD really used your words to encourage and strengthen my heart. The Wild One, His Holy Spirit, lives inside of me through Christ. He has walked these unknown paths before. And He will see me through safely. God bless you, dear Sister! 💖💖💖
Love this. Thank you!
Jennifer, I relate so very much to your quest for rest. God put that on my heart about 20 years ago and I still run myself to the ground (and now I have little ones). So I feel like you are encouraging me on - and I love that poem! I also love storms - all of us do! We get excited but it also is so calming and speaks of the majesty of God.
And… our birds know that it’s their time to get food after I have hung up the laundry! Mr. Red, as my children call one of the cardinals, is always the first and chirps a “thank you!”
Love this wild grain offering! I love the idea of being ready for company at all times and fresh pasta on demand!
Just realized I had gotten so “busy” with life that I hadn’t taken time to just be in a long time. Spent a few hours just walking around outside and filling up my soul with Gods creation. 😌
What is the piano music playing throughout this video? It’s wonderful!
I loved all the things in this video. Watching your videos is something I look forward to every week. Thank you for all the beauty you put in to these vlogs. - Michelle
I love that you ring the windchimes to let the birds know that 'soups on'! Wonderful!
I clean the 4 plastic plates that are on the ground daily and the terracotta water plate for" my" outdoor birdies. I hang various shaped holders with fat balls and a tube feeder into the trees above my feeding area and refill the plates with peanuts, sunflower-peanut mix, wild bird seed/peanut mix and my homemade oiled oats with raisins. I need to bring them all back inside each evening because we have a bad racoon problem and the local tenant of the hunt refuses to help. After refilling/rehanging I have a self-composed melody of 7 tones that I whistle with my mouth 3 times as loud as I can so the birds know their food is out and the 2-legged creature is back in (same that you do with your wind chimes, Jennifer) and then ALL of them rush down to eat. Some blue tits and great tits sit on the Apple tree branches above me, change branches and chirp in an excited manner. They often come very close and observe me. If I am too late in the morning and their food is not out yet, up to SIX of the great tits will sit on my windowsill and peck the kitchen window glass or sit vertically on the frame and stare inside. They know exactly where their food is and whom to "ask". Some will even sit next to the front door or walk inside to look. They all tell their little friends so we have 27 bird species that will arrive in the course of the day/week/month to eat. Been doing this for 4 years, started after my dog died in 2020. I learned a ton about birds since then.
Stunning video, I love everything about it! The pearl necklace is beautiful and unique and loved the cream outfit with it. We're expecting a rain event today I hope it helps my seeds start to sprout. Our garden is finally coming alive with green, I'm so excited! Thanks Jennifer ❤
Thank you, DeAnna!
You always seem so content and I envy that. I feel like I should be happier than I am -- maybe you could do a video on cultivating contentment?
Philippians 4:11-13 ESV
[11] Not that I am speaking of being in need, for I have learned in whatever situation I am to be content. [12] I know how to be brought low, and I know how to abound. In any and every circumstance, I have learned the secret of facing plenty and hunger, abundance and need. [13] I can do all things through him who strengthens me.
Yes
A bit random, but my husband thinks it’s weird that I can “smell” rain or thunderstorm coming before it actually does! 😂
Yes, rain and storms coming have a distinct smell.. I've always been able to smell the rain coming❤
I love that poem Jennifer and will be copying it down in my own journal 💜 I love to hear your reflections on life and the storms, taking time to not rush and soak in this thing called life.
A beautiful video, Jennifer. I feel that you really found yourself. You are very inspiring to me, like an older sister that I never had.
What a beautiful recipe and for those of us who do not partake in grains ( I’d eat that whole box of items in two days lol) it would be excellent even without the pasta! ❤
A really lovely video, Jennifer! Thanks.
Love how the pearls looked on the simple white tee
Hi Jennifer! I hope you had a lovely Easter! What a magical video!! Every second was dreamy!! Thank you! I will for sure be trying the recipe tonight! Have a peaceful weekend and see you Thursday! With love, Kellie
Thank you, Kellie!
Such a beautiful video, Jennifer! So inspiring. Spring is my favorite season, and I resonated with everything you shared with us. Thank you! I love fresh herbs as you do, and I grow them year-round in my AeroGarden. Basil is my most prolific crop, and I use it to make pesto and Caprese salad often. Yum! Happy Spring!
...so refreshing after a good night's sleep and the priveledge of waking up to your video Jennifer. Very nice...the recipe "looks" delicious too!...I like pearls
"Feed the birds tuppence a bag, tuppence, tuppence, tuppence a bag.

At 52, I am relearning how to slow down and enjoy the moment I am in. My late father used to tell me to slow down and smell the roses. I now fully understand what he was talking about.
i just ordered the book!!

Beautiful video Jennifer. Just listened to the audio version of Running With the Wolves and really enjoyed it! Do you have a link for your white cardigan with the gold buttons? It's so pretty!
I'll be checking out Wildgrain!!!
(Basil isn't very happy if the temps drop below 50 degrees. It's a sensitive little plant who likes warm feet. 😊)
Heavy cream is akways great fir pasta

Pearls are really the best! But it also depends on each woman; not everyone has a classical style.
“Don’t know why there’s no sun up in the sky” - stormy weather.
🥰
When discussing the eternal human soul, why are we discussing it from a very New Age perspective? There is so much Christian literature to draw inspiration from, beyond the Bible, and yet the wolf fixation is actually highly pagan. I hope you'll consider that JS, as one Christian sister to another. It is the reason why wolves (and dragons btw) have been used for centuries in fairy tales, to represent evil. Because wolves are extremely nasty, vicious animals (no, they are not "misunderstood", just ask a farmer). Women who run with wolves, as the name of the book goes.... are symbolically running with Satan. That's not something any Christian woman should be fixated on.
Newer religions often attempt to demonise aspects of older spiritual traditions and portray them as negative elements. In native American spiritual traditions for example, the wolf is revered as a symbol of courage, strength and wisdom. Unprovoked wolf attacks on humans are extremely rare. Wolves would much rather avoid us. Wolves only hunt for survival, not for sport (unlike humans), and are an important element of a thriving sustainable ecology in their native areas. Like all animals, they deserve our respect.
Such a calming video. I love the pasta recipe. The pearl necklace is gorgeous. For me pearls are the essence of beauty. Thanks for sharing.
