Thing's more fun to shoot and faster to get into action than my Ruger PC 9 carbine. Especially love firing that super hot Winchester Active Duty out of it.
I have to disagree. While I agree it's an amazing carbine. The ruger feels more solid and battle ready. The handguard is plastic on the smith and wesson. Whereas the ruger is all metal. If you ran out of ammo and you were in a hand-to-hand combat situation. You can beat the snot out of somebody with the ruger. Keep in mind that i'm comparing the tactical model ruger to this smith wesson.
@@rickrick70 $200 cheaper and lighter. Three magazines for 63 available rounds right out of the box vs. what ruger comes with. The Ruger gets a check mark for being able to accept Glock mags with the magwell adapter. As Travis said, an intro to the PCC and a lightweight, small stowable package for the truck or backpack. I have the FPC but certainly wouldn't turn away from the base Ruger at that price point.
I got mine last week, took it out to the range today and put 100 rounds through it. It performed flawlessly. Very fun gun to shoot. Can’t wait to get out and shoot some more.
guys you don'T have to pull the pin to release the extra mags, you press on it and it releases the opposite sided mag, less of a hassle!
New sub here.
We bought a his and hers, seeing were both on either side of 70. I thought a light shooting and accurate carbine would just be perfect for us!
Thank you for your service! 👍👍
I have it, shot about 400 rounds through it. I hate the bolt release, that's about it. The charging handle sucks, but that can be cured by oiling the heck out of it and breaking it in. It comes with no sights, so you have to budget that in. It's accurate and fun to shoot.
Great information. I listed all the things you described and will add it to my gun file. Paying off a new safe so will have to wait till then to buy. I have a S&W M&P 9mm compact. This will be a great compliment for the compact. I have 15 - 17rd mags, 3 - 12rd mags, and 1 - 32 round mag. I will be carrying on belt one or two mag holders for faster defensive / offensive action.
Love your work brother! First saw you on SRS. I love my FPC I've been working on reloads and getting used to the functions. I completely agree about the reloads but it is nice having 63rnds ready to roll. This is also my only carbine currently so I've practiced reloads with my paddle mag holder and refill it out of the butt stock mag holder as well as from the buttstock only. I've thought about reversing the mag release to make it easier to access without moving my control hand so much. Also, I have the M&P 2.0 for my side arm, and the mags are interchangeable. Again, love the content, brother!
Just getting familiar with the FPC before range time. Travis and all, the mag switch is a bit different than other practices. Here's my right handed method: point muzzle to ground, bring left hand pinky to mag latch on opposite side of desired mag. Depressing the mag latch with the muzzle pointed down, the mag will fall into my left hand. Spin mag while moving to mag release and eject mag from grip. Slam loaded mag in mag well. Release bolt, aim and plink. The mag release does a good job of springing the mag from the well and control of the rifle is constant with my right hand. So, try having gravity as your friend during the reload. I admit it won't work well from a prone position, but that's a cover position, so ... I put a Sig romeo7s green dot on mine, so a trip to SEC to zero it is the next step. Enjoy and have a happy new year. Hope 2024 is good to the 2A community.
The FPC is the perfect SHTF weapon. I have an M&P 2.0 full size pistol with 8 magazines that can fit the FPC and all fit in a backpack with other essentials for an easy to carry bug out bag. It's an accurate weapon. It's a reliable weapon. Need I say more?
There is plenty of time to be uncomfortable, grab your comforts when you can. Yes to ground pad.
Nice content, fun little PCC. Thank you.
I like the simplicity of your video man 👍
Smith&Wesson was lucky to get someone of your caliber!
Good looks, Travis!
Ground pads keep our platforms and accessories clean and away from dirt, micro debris, mud etc...! I'm with you with that Brother 😂
The only thing I'm not crazy about on it is the bolt release. You basically have to put your finger in the ejection port to release it.
It's really not a bolt release, it's more of a bolt catch. The charging handle is the way to go to chamber the round. The bolt catch is next to impossible to chamber a round.
@A_Mercer interesting. Admittedly, the only experience I have with them is from the LGS I work for.
I'm really happy to hear that because I think it's a great looking gun. Definitely on my buy list .
This is correct. The FPC does not have a bolt release, only a bolt catch. This can be found in the instruction manual. The bolt is designed to be released from the open/locked position by pulling the charge handle to the rear.@@jimmyyeakel615
@scottkelly7051 The same way you use your left hand to reach under to break down a Glock slide. Well if you do the same thing and use your thumb and middle or forefinger to press down on both sides of the slide catch at the same time, it releases with very little pressure.
Nice review. Seems like a fun little rifle.
Well I think it's pretty cool because I can actually buy this in Canada.
That gun sounds really nice. Very good carry gun for the mountains.
Does it take Glock mags?
Sorry, someone had to!!!
Thanks T, we appreciate you.
Hell yes ground pad work smarter not harder. It's just like the saying why stand when you could sit?
Pretty cool innovation, reminds me of the fold ar’s but in a pistol cal. Defiantly practical and great price, even found one CA legal online, might pick one up
Thanks TK!!!!
Keep the pad, no sense destroying your joints til you need to. It’s not like you got pillow and a blanket too 🤙
How do you feel about this as a home defense option? I've been considering it with a nice dot sight. Thought using 147 grain HP mitigates the over penetration issues that come with and SBR or shotgun. And it would have reduced noise in case you have little ones in the home.
WoW! 23rds. cool, ground pad necessary for us older guys 😊,thank you Travis 🔫
P.s. Travis u put in your work and are the epitome of toughness 💯 ground pads are acceptable 😊
Whatever is comfortable!!!
They brought a bunch into Canada . The barrels are 18.6 inches to meet legal limits.
Very nice to shoot and accurate .. 9/10 because of bolt release above trigger is useless..
The FPC does not have a bolt release "above trigger". You can find this out for yourself if you read the instruction manual.
I know you could lay in the pine needles if you had too , but Bark Scorpion are No joke Buddy . I'm glad to see your review on this as an option over the standard AR type - which I'd prefer for manual of arms .
Nice vid, love to see one of these in 10mm!
I love mine! Well, it was my neighbors....I mean, the one that i lost when the boat sank 😮😢 i would love to get one sometime...thanks for sharing!
Thanks for the very informative video, Travis! I carry a 1st Generation M&P 9c and this carbine will be perfect for my 1880's "cowboy" philosophy of a common round and magazine for carbine and handgun. In my everyday life, I don't have a need to go fully kitted out with a battle rifle and its magazines as well. One thing I haven't seen addressed in any video is a sling mount. Does it have any?
Great video. Thanks. What is your criteria for where you mounted the optic?
I'm only 56 y.o. and I just now got a shooter's mat. I cannot effectively pass judgement but I can talk uge amounts of smack . I'm going to leave it at that. I appreciate you Travis and friends. Peace..✌
The mag storage in the stock is a cool feature. I need to look into this one further. If sig could base a carbine like this on the 226 theyd sell one to every SEAL past and present. Lol
I’d say given what you’ve seen and the places you’ve been…. Not a thing wrong with a little comfort from a ground pad…. As far as the S&W goes…. I don’t know, I’m just not crazy about it. Got a SIG MPX that gives me enough jollies on the stow and go front. Keep the vids comin and love and appreciate all the content….
I completely agree you deserve a little bit of comfort Thank you for your service 🇺🇸
Yes, thank you for your service!
I have one......lots of fun.
Only seen 1 or 2 people complaining about it but other then that everybody seems to like it. getting mine next week
Nice gun great for bug out
There’s a difference between being soft and being wise. Being wise keeps you ready to be hard when you need to be.
I’m getting mine tomorrow
You’ve earned that ground pad 😅
My ground pad is water heater boxes. Just enough where I'm not brushing dirt off of me all the time.
Mega like mine..I will love put 1 point sling on it!
I plan on getting one for my 1st pcc. I simply like how i can use m&p pistol mags. & it will be good for my wife
Yes and yes
I use a stuffed unicorn, it makes the shooting experience more magical. 😂
Nice review of the S&W, now compare with the hi point 9mm carbine. Teams.
Go get the Taccom butt stock for it and put the mags on your waist for faster speed reloads 😮
Is it bad that I like Fmj rounds more then hollow points Winchester active duty flat nose rounds 😅
Question, could I get a extended Glock mag for this?
Be nice if you could slam mag to release bolt...
Since it comes from the factory with no sights, you have to put an optic on it
Ground pad works for me
What makes it is the ability to hold the 3 mags.
Will it let you fold it with a round in the chamber?
No, it cannot be folded w/a round in the chamber.
Is that the holosun Aems?
I don’t mind the ground pad
Looks like they took a page outta the keltec book. Yo Travis are you not doing the cop thing anymore? You said "was a cop" past tense.
He started taking steroids which is illegal so they fired him
FPC is Xcellent and a real Pleasure…great truck gun and home self defense carbine…USING LIGHT BULLETS you get EXTREMLY fast devastating results. pew pew pew 🔫🔫🔫
Ground pad? Why get dirty if you don't have to.
Kel Tec Sub2000 vs this anyone have any comments?
Go with the ground pad
Sponsored by Smith!? Nice man good for you!!
There’s a fine line between being HARD and being STUPID! Keep the mat! Lol
popeyes biscuit
A SEAL doesnt need a ground pad. It would take up space where you could stow more combs for that sweet SEAL hair.
I want one of these but they are hard to find in my area. Sadly I believe the price of these are only going to climb making it not worth it for me.
I sincerely hope I am wrong but I'm not spending $800-1k when there are other options just as capable for less money. Although I give S.W props for perfecting it.
Keep looking around, I found Bass Pro shops has them but I purchased mine from gun & pawn shop S&W dealer for $ 570.00
Palmetto State armory $575
@@carlosdaniels9515 not the same. I already have a PCC but I want this particular one that breaks down just like this.
@@davidjean6753 exactly the same. I purchased this exact S&W FPC from Palmetto State Armory for $579.99 ($644.63 total shipped)
@davidjean6753 Also, highly doubt they'll ever get that high. S&W website lists MSRP at $699. Everywhere I found one for sale while looking for mine, was selling them anywhere between $549-$599
I hate the m&p grip design on this. Wish they made it a foldable ar platform
Ground pads are weak! She’s right! Lol! Us old guys are frail!
Nothing wrong with a ground pad.
Ask your wife if she wants to lay on the gravel with or without the pad.
No, sir, you are not soft and the last person I would want to anger.
You got S&W, congrats
Better run the ground pad because you come home covered in mud and grass stains for her to launder you’ll find that you are weak when she’s finished
😂🤣😂🤣😂
Love the FPC. The charge release is a bitch though.
Let your wife know there is a fine line between hard core, and stupidity. If you have it, use it. If you don't have it, then embrace the suck!
Bought mine a few months ago. Over 1000 rounds through it, 0 malfunctions. Love this gun! Thanks for your service!
An absolute no for me. Sig MPX or CZ Scorpion. Most companies fail miserably getting into the pcc game. And this is a perfect example. Just my opinion. Love your content tho! Always educational! 🇺🇸
Not exactly a fair comparison to the Scorpion or mpx. Neither of those fold in half or have on board magazine storage. Initially I bought mine as a secondary option fir 2 gun pcc competition but I managed to find a 16 inch barrel to convert my Stribog for that purpose instead so my FPC will be for home defense.
@@ecobasetech4558 Definitely not a fair comparison when you figure in price point.
Needs to accept Glock mags
Smart shooters use ground pads!
No disrespect to anyone, but that’s the truth.
I don’t like carbines but dang man s&w killin it with the features on this one🦾😎
