The original Dodge Super Bee was based on the Dodge Coronet two-door coupe, and was produced from 1968 until 1970.[5] It was Dodge's low-priced muscle car and rebranded and mildly distinguished from the Plymouth Road Runner. The origin of the name, "Super Bee", has its basis in the "B" Body designation pertinent to Chrysler's mid-sized cars, including the Road Runner and Charger.
For the 1970 model, the Super Bee received a redesign and a new front-end that consisted of a twin-looped front bumper that Dodge Public Relations referred to as "bumble bee wings".[19] Sales fell for the year from 15,506 in 1970 to 5,054 in 1971-because of, or in spite of, this new look, with another sales pressure coming from higher insurance rates for performance cars; the similar Plymouth Road Runner and Plymouth Duster both experienced similar sales issues.[12] In addition to the new looks, engine choices and "ramcharger" hood carried over from 1969, the 1970 cars from Dodge featured several new or improved options. For example, a "C- stripe" variant of the bumble stripe was offered, in addition to new high-back bucket seats, a steering column-mounted ignition and a "pistol grip" Hurst shifter on four-speed models.[citation needed]

I watch your videos to see how the kit assembles and if you had issues and tips. You always say to build it how you like it! If someone is going to "yell at the screen" due to lack of accuracy of realism, then they need to relax and realize this hobby is supposed to be fun! Thank you!

Dynamite 'Bee, *Chris* ! Good call on the *V6B* stripes ; *V6G* definitely would be interesting with blue (esp. since Chrysler's *E* B5 has green undertones to it).
You are correct regarding the two different dash/instrument options; the "bar" speedometer is standard fare, with the Charger gauges being an option.
I can't wait to get a few copies of this newer release (I have the c.2009 issue, plus the *DOHC* 426 Hemi from the Pro Street version). The tyres and the decals are *awesome* in this release !
Keep up the great and fun work, Chris !

440 SIX PACK - Great choice! And, you even fixed the throttle linkage on the center carb - WOW - nice detailing (middle carb on that Six Pack option would stick if not modified). With under hood near perfection, you went on to build the rest of the car to match. Another fun build and one more reason to always watch hpiguys Workshop.

That blue is really gorgeous and pretty close to one of the met. Blue that Chrysler offered. I mean, I saw a Coronot (base, not Superbee) in a blue that is REALLY similar to the one you used.

Back in the time when these were molded, many kits didnt have a lot of those "small details" included, and they simply noted that, back then, commonsense would have suggested to the person buying this kit at the time, that since it had nitnoid little details like this, it might have a lot more, and this kit does, it has the parts, minus floorpan and some chrome, most of the parts from the dirty donny drag car, where this car was wheel tubbed, with a hemi, two choices of dashes R/T or stock plymouth sattelite dash, there were pieces missing that didnt allow stock build on dirty donny car, and vice versa, you cant quite build this as a drag car right outta the box, sorry, a little long winded, but that is why that washer bottle is shown

The factory stock version like this one came out in late 1993, Early 1994, The kit was the MPC body, bumpers and interior parts, the rest was the AMT tooled 1989-90 era '68 Road Runner chassis, sort of a combination of both kits, the hood was retooled also, the original version had the pitchfork hood in it, the 1970 MPC annual release of the '70 Coronet. Good to know. It bonded within seconds after you brushed it on. 👍

Is this the famous Super Bee? According to what I saw in the book, it was said that the performance was very good, but it was a car that did not sell well because of the high price, but I do not know if it is true.

It was the look of the car. People either loved it or hated it

The front end treatment was a bit radical for some folks but personally I love it!

It's called pre-shading. It gives the overcoat depth and layers without having to go thru the process of running a black wash or other shading later.
Extremely common in military models, and I adapted it for my car models as it works very well.

Yes ... I haven't seen those in real life either. I would remove them.

I thought maybe they were turn signal indicators? So I left them. Maybe they were on whatever car they copied for the model molds way back when the kit was created?

The instructions are still wrong in regards to the wiper motor. You used the Roadrunner horn for the wiper motor. There is a wiper motor, but the part number is not listed on the instructions. This has been a sore spot for years! Otherwise, a great build from you!
