    Often have to come back to this video. I can never quite remember herringbone stitch! But I’ve found that a single crochet at the beginning of each row makes my rows uneven. I changed it to a regular half double and it works great.

    Hi! Spanish speaker here, I have a question: herringbone refers to the zigzag-like pattern that you end up with?

    • @forthefrills
      @forthefrills  4 года назад +1

      ¡Hola! Yes the herringbone is the zig zag pattern :)

  • @Comebakchik23
    @Comebakchik23 4 года назад

    Hello Is there a tutorial for the beanie? And when you are working in rounds for the beanie you say to turn and then do the next round.. So after I sc6 in rd 1 - I have to turn to do Rd 2, etc? and rd 2 states to : sc, HSC in first st., then HSCinc in each st around?Thank you Grace!Also.. what should the length be for the child size??

    • @forthefrills
      @forthefrills  4 года назад

      Hi Delia, there isn't a video tutorial for the beanie sorry! When working in rounds you just sl st to join and turn and then you follow RND 2/Row 2 of the HSC stitch. You always want the herringbone pattern to be facing the right side of your beanie. For beanie length, I recommend trying on the beanie you can just stop crocheting the side rounds once you've reached your desired length. In the pattern I recommend crocheting 3 rounds for Child size but you can add/remove rounds if you want the beanie to be more slouchy or fitted :)

    Is this stitch with this thickness of yarn a good option for making a sweater or would it be too stiff? Love your videos btw!

    • @forthefrills
      @forthefrills  3 года назад +3

      Hi, If making a sweater I'd definitely recommend using a thinner yarn with a larger hook that way the sweater should have some movement to it.
      I hope this helps,
      Grace

    How come mine is not the same on both sides

    • @susieannei5641
      @susieannei5641 3 года назад +1

      It won't be the same. That's why we have to flip the work and perform the work "upsidedown" when we're on the wrong side. You're probably doing it correctly :0) !!

    Wouldn't it just be easier to crochet one row right handed, and the next row left handed? I'm left handed, but it's easier for me to do it that way. Just a thought. Thanks for the tutorial!

    To bring up the very first stitch to similar stitch height, is it possible to simply work it as a half-double crochet?

    • @forthefrills
      @forthefrills  4 года назад

      Hi, I haven't tried using HDC for this stitch but I feel like sicne there are 3 loops on the hook (for an HDC) you might loose the clear 'herringbone' look. If you want the first stitch to be a similar height, it might help to pull up a slightly longer loop at the beginning of the row. I hope this helps Grace :)
