  • Learn a Brand New Crochet Stitch: The Herringbone Crochet Stitch and the Herringbone Crochet Puff Stitch.
    This stitch very closely mimics the Herringbone Knit Stitch. It has one major advantage over the knit version: It is REVERSIBLE! So this makes a fabric that looks great on both sides.
    And this stitch is actually very easy to make!
    This is a new stitch that I came up with myself. I’ve never seen it in any other crochet book or video. Maybe someone somewhere has also used this idea, but I’ve never seen it before.
    It is different from the Herringbone Double Crochet and the Herringbone Half Double Crochet. There is also a Herringbone Single Crochet version that is a little awkward to do and it is not reversible.
    This stitch is the best option to get the closest to the knit version. I hope you Love it!
    Please let me know how you plan to use it!
    Learn to work this Herringbone crochet stitch both flat and in the round so you can use it in any project you like!
    IDEAS FOR THIS STITCH/ PATTERN
    It can be used as an overall pattern like the Herringbone Cowl featured in this video or used as an accent in different projects, like hats, sweaters, and ponchos. See video for ideas.

    It would be a great stitch for making rugs, baskets or anything that needs some thickness and sturdiness.

    I came up with this when I was really keen to make the same look of knitted herringbone stitch in a crochet version. I searched everywhere and nothing really got the look as close as I wanted.

    Hello ! Loving this stitch. I was wondering if you could tell me what kindle if yarn you used in this video?

    • @LightandJoyDesigns
      @LightandJoyDesigns  Год назад +1

      The pink yarn is by Lion Brand called “color made easy”. It is discontinued but you probably can find some on Etsy or Ebay or Ravelry.

    This is the BEST video I've found (even tho the other crocheters videos were also very good) I also learned the crochet nailbinding stitch from you, and several other stitches. Is there one for sc Herringbone where you dont have to work in reverse?

    Hi this stitch is beautiful, thank you for sharing. I have a question though, how would you make decreases in the rows?

    • @LightandJoyDesigns
      @LightandJoyDesigns  2 года назад +1

      Good question! Very similar to any decrease, just do two stitches together but for the second half of that 2 together only start it like a regular half double crochet, then pull through all loops. Please let me know if you try this and if it works.

    Thanks for this stitch 👍❤. I really love herringbone but it can be difficult in crochet.
    I've made a few items in the flat using your version
    Instagram @mxcrochet
    I've been trying to work it in the round, but the seem is very noticeable. I've tried a few techniques for invisible seems but none seem to really work with this stitch. Do you have any tips for joining in the round to help make it less noticeable?
    Thanks 😀

    • @LightandJoyDesigns
      @LightandJoyDesigns  3 года назад +1

      Thanks for saying hi. I’m not sure if the seam is avoidable in the round. Maybe try doing one last cluster after the slip stitch is made at the end of the round might do it.

      In response to Fulla B, I think being grateful someone takes the time to create a very helpful video is the way to go. This may be someone's first time watching an instructional video and it's offering them a way to interact with the very nice instructor when subscribed and setting the notification to All. I hope I didn't overstep.
