The most important tournament of Federer's career. Matching Sampras' record, winning your first French Open, and completing the career grand slam all at the same tournament is astonishing.
@@tvismusic no, in Wimbledon he won his 15th Slam and overtook Sampras. He matched his 14 in Roland Garros
@@PAWfessionalTennis matching means equalizing...
@@honkymonky7033 oh, I misread that, you're right :D
most important match of Federer's career
Joost H why?
Itsz Sven It was the only GS he never won before and after this one
@Shinobu Tsurubushi Nadal were not injured. He just looses against soderling.
2017 AO Final was the most important of Federer's career.
Match vs Haas was the most important
Talk about well deserved. The match with Haas was 2 sets to love 4-3 haas about to break serve. Then Fed just woke up and worked even harder excellent Victory...
11 years later and the guy is still playing in the Top 3 , lol
He s now 4rth :p
@@maxclicalb2372 rankings are frozen
Nadal and Djokovic too.
Well he's not really playing but yeah
There is nothing to lol about
Super tournois de R.Federer Apres avoir battu tommy hass en 5 set / Del potro / et soderling en finale. Il a vraiment mérité ce titre la.
Fed At the net:“ i will forever be in your debt robin....“
I can't even stress how important this tournament was for Roger. It was the one missing from his impeccable trophy collection, the one that seemed impossible for him, not because he sucked ('cause he sure didn't), but because of a certain someone who happens to be the undisputed King of Clay, Mr. Rafael Nadal. 2009 was really a year of redeem for Roger, he came from painful losses against Nadal at AO and Djokovic (he even smashed his racket and was actually booed), it seemed he was never going to be the same. But then, the miracle happened, Nadal was beaten at RG. Roger had to take his chance, against Haas, who made him suffer a lot, he was about to lose, but then inspiration came and Roger didn't waste his oportunity. Then came this final which saw Roger back on top again, completing his Career Grand Slam and showing you can come up from the ashes (BTW, he went on to win Wimbledon again the next month). So inspiring.
I realised the other day that federer nearly won 7, yes 7 slams in a row around this period. 2008 french open he got to the final however he lost easily to nadal, so im not gonna count this one. so starting from 2008 wimbledon, where he lost narrowly in the final to nadal in 5 sets, 2008 us open he won, 2009 australian open he again lost in 5 sets to nadal in the final, 2009 FO he won, 2009 wimbledon he won, 2009 us open he lost to del potro in 5 sets and was 2 sets to 1 up, and then australian open 2010 he won. so in 7 consecutive majors he either won or lost in 5 sets in the final. and as i mentioned he got to 8 consecutive major finals because of FO 2008. absolutely extraordinary
he was lucky as hell xDD he could never beat Nadal all on his own. thats why Novak is the GOAT>
@@novakgoatovic he was the most dominant player in the 2000s, Federer was not lucky.
Amazing win by the maestro! It is interesting. Djokovic can go on and win maybe 30 GS titels, and nobody will care. It will always be Federers career, which will be remembered as the greatest 😀
Best moments, no corona, no bs, just tennis
Corona only beer😅
Watching this after hearing the news of Federer retiring. One more time, maestro!
🎾🇨🇭😍❤️ Que d émotions merciiiiii le maître
He can thank Soderling for playing a godlike match against Nadal and knocking him out.
nope, that version of french open was meant for Federer.
Sure but we can make statements similar to that one about Nadal. Nadal would have never won AO if Novak hit his prime earlier.
@@SHVideografie and novak would have never won the french open if Nadal stayed healthy ... Ifs and buts don't matter, what happens happens and that's it !
Most people dont know, but Nadal had some personal issues with Soderling. People don't realize was personal war between two of them. Go read more about that and you will not be surprised why is he only next to Djokovic who beat Nadal at FO.
@@jeancharlet6496 Poor argument
Game was amazing.Well done Roger 👏🏆🎉❤️
Super magnifique roger federer
Such emotion when he won!!!
lovely nike kit, one of his best
Best day of my life

Finally at 27 he won all 4.
Special thanks to Soderling for beating Rafa and letting RF to win his 1st RG title
Bravo
You can thank Soderling for Federers first (and only win) at Roland Garros!
9:57 thats why djokovic and nadal surpassed his grand slam record !
La première de Fédérer. Sur Rolland Garros.
Sans accent c est mieux
Everyone has sentiments and nadal never wore dark pink again in a match!!
match en entier svp ?
What was Soderling thinking, going to the net all the time with such weak approaches? Fed king.
❤️
Nadal destroyed this man year after year in Paris, this was the best day of Federers tennis career. Nowadays it is nearly impossible to win the french open, you have to beat Djokovic and Nadal or Thiem and Nadal, that is crazy!!!!
There's actually competition, unlike Fed's early career.
@@zafferung4440 Haha, you mean the great players that we have today like Tsitsipas, Thiem, and the others? Sure, they have potential but they are nowhere close to the standard that Fed has set and that Djokovic is following. Fed in his early career played with legends like Sampras, Agassi and later on played with people who could actually win slams like Roddick or Murray, and Nadal. Not trying to discredit Djokovic or anybody, just wanted to point out that Fed actually played in a stronger era than now.
@@zafferung4440 What competition lol?
@@zafferung4440 No. Federer went up against greats like Sampras, Rafter, Safin, Roddick ... this is a weaker era than Federer's. Who do you have outside of the Big Three? Only now is Medvedev showing some promising skill. Ruud and Thiem are good players that have also recently emerged. Before that ... who did you have aside from Murray?
Goat
Ertugrul Körpinar Both Nadal and Djokovic are passing him in slams, he doesn’t have anything else to lean on, weak era goat

Soderling approach shots really let him down
Never will there be another so balletic as Federer thankful to Jesus for this time God bless u Federer thank u
RG is RG, not "french open". It has a real personal name. You'd not call Wimbledon the "english open" so why doin' it for RG ??
he also beat nadal at madrid on clay
But he never beat him in FO

Its unreal right now, agree with me )))
Never.
This pretty much proves that without Nadal, Federer would have won 1 or 2 Calendar Grand Slam...
In 2006 and 2007, he wins AO, W and USO, only losing the FO final to Nadal. Nadal and Djoko did 3 out of 4 but either didn't reach the final of the 4th, or in Djoko's 2021 case lost to a non-Big 4. Only Federer achieved 2 near-Slam during the height of the Big 4 era.
You mean Wawrinka is the fourth big :D?
@@Amonit221100 Murray. It's the generally accepted definition of the big 4. But you can substitute Wawrinka. I really should have said big-3 because the other two can't compare (3 majors vs 20).

Big respect & thanks to soderling for beating Nadal in the semi final which granted Federer his most important title of his magnificent career

That stare at 1:00
Federer thinking why didn't soderling reach that easy ball? Expecting a great match after Nadal/Soderling...maybe disappointed, maybe suspecting something about his rival

@@maxime7192 k
Federer probably bribed Soderling here with 3 times the prize money. Soderling didn’t hit with even 10% of what he did against Nadal.
You think so? Or maybe he just wasn't experienced and ready for such a huge stage like grand slam final?
@@davidnovak8326 Federer also played so much differently than Nadal. He drove Robin mad with dropshots.
Soderling admires Federer I'm sure; Nadal not so much.
As a swede it was disappointing to see Söderling drop in quality in the final compared to the dominating performances from round 4 to the semis. I think it was a combination of nerves, his conditioning not being used to a non stop 2 weeks of grand slam tennis and the feeling that Federer "deserved to win".
