Working for a liquor distributor as a sales rep I love watching you guys talk about these products. Reminds me of why I love my job. I sell 3 of the 4 ryes. Love me some Rittenhouse any day of the week.
I’ve been so frustrated here in Virginia trying to find any of my favorites under $40. $60 and up, lots of options. Rittenhouse Rye has just become reliably available at $27 here in VA and I think it’s a great value. Thanks for trying 4 bottles I can actually buy!! I often skip it if it’s something I know I’ll never see.
Rittenhouse is my go-to rye. Goes great in a cocktail, and I enjoy it neat. I was starting to get into cocktails last year and it was one of the frequently used ingredients on How to Drink. It wound up being the first whiskey I ever enjoyed neat and it helped introduce me into the world of whiskey in general. Now I'm sipping on some WT101 and have quite the collection and tasting notes list.
Thanks for doing this video on bottles that most people can actually afford and obtain. You used to do videos like this but now you all do waaaaaay too much content on whiskeys that are ridiculously expensive and/or only you and other connected folks can obtain. An example is the Knob Creek 12 year. I had bought a bottle and was excited when I saw you posted a video about it. But I quickly became disappointed when I learned you were actually reviewing the BARREL PROOF version which I've never seen and is likely very expensive. So much for a review that is relevant to me. You eventually did a flight fight with the regular 12 year which was nice but no standalone review. I still like and watch your channel. I even bought a shirt over Xmas. And I'm not saying you shouldn't talk about these "high end" bourbons & ryes. But I find myself tuning out when you put out video after video on bottles that cost several hundred dollars IF they can even be found. BTW - Chad should tone it down. Sometimes he's a lot too extra.
Nice comparison, not owning the Old Forester, I did the 101, Knob and Rittenhouse blind while watching, OK, I paused a couple of times ;) Completely different results. Winner for me today is the Wild Turkey, second (not by much) Rittenhouse and dead last by a mile is the Knob. I'm not too much into Rye, and barely legal seems to fit better for me than high rye, the Knob seems to be already to minty, eucalyptus and dilly for me. Rye month was interesting, thanks for the panoramic! Cheers
Was so with you in the Old Forester Rye. Though it appears to have the highest (disclosed) Rye content of all four, I nosed it the first time and thought I poured from the wrong bottle. It’s so sweet. I get a lot of Ice Cream when I put it on a rock. Thanks for the input. Great video.
Thank you for another wonderful video. As always, entertaining and educational. I’ll be starting my rye journey with Knob Creek and Rittenhouse, which is fitting as I know I really like both Knob Creek 9 bourbon and the general Heaven Hill bourbon flavor profile.
Just an idea: Y’all should try a blending competition video where you each have access to like 2-5 bourbons that maybe aren’t great and you’re trying to get rid of? And make a small blend then try them side by side blind to see who can build the better blend. Then figure out who’s blend it was and what was in it. Could be fun during the blending when someone else is out of the room to talk trash or explain your thoughts etc. (Could use all or only a few of the bourbons you have access to)
Big Wild Turkey fan here, especially the 101 Bourbon and Rarebreed, I was a bit iffy on the WT101 Rye (neat), BUT it is one of my very favourites for making bourbon/rye recipe cocktails. So...I'm with you guys!
Oh, thank you guys for telling what exactly are you tasting at that particular moment. Otherwise for 20 minutes listening opinion about 4 different products without knowing which exactly are you referring to would be a time wasting. Good job guys
I passed up a bottle of Rittenhouse for a bottle of Larceny as per Sara's recommendation. Thanks kiddo'. That Larceny is nice stuff. Especially for the price!
Wild Turkey 101 very easy to find in Missouri Forget finding Old Forester Rye. It's in Illnois, but who wants to drive 90 miles round trip.... I will be in Arkansas for the Horse races in Hot Springs in March.... Maybe I'll see it while I'm there.. I have Rittenhous, Wild Turkey 101, Russells Rye, Bulliet Rye, and a few others. THinking about getting Knob Creek.
We just got the 750s of WT101 in the Chicago area relatively recently, for $21.99. For several years we've only had the liter bottles for $44.99 so I always passed on it. Finally got some and I think I agree that I like it better than the 101 bourbon, which seems to have a funk to it. I the funk I'd much less noticeable in the Rye to me. Also less rough than the bourbon in my opinion.
I found a bottle that had the words wild turkey and rye and got excited because iv been looking for the WT 101 rye. Went home poured a bit and discovered its the 81. Never occurred to me it wasn't the 101 until that point. Killin me smalls.
I'm actually surprised with the Rittenhouse coming out on top. Would've been interesting to have included an MGP rye in the flight fight. Always a pleasure to watch your channel. Cheers from Canada🥃🇨🇦
👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾 loved it!! Making my fridays and sunday nights better. But thanks to Chad with the Mandy Moore "Candy" reference I now have that song stuck in my head!!!🤯
Rittenhouse Rye is absolutely the winner. No argument whatsoever. It’s great neat. It’s great in a cocktail. Nothing wrong with the other offerings (although I would chose Wild Turkey Rye as #2 in this group).
Not really a budget rye but I will never turn back from Stellum rye for my cocktails. The 95/5 mostly-MGP blend at 57% stands up to all the sweet vermouths and syrup in all the right ways. It’s a must-try in and old fashioneds, manhattans, sazeracs etc. would love to know what y’all think!
I love Pikesville for drinking neat. I bought Rittenhouse for mixing and REALLY didn't like it. Guess I should have given it more of a chance and tried it straight as well.
Great video as always. I’ve been really wanting to try a rye and had my eye on the 101… now maybe thinking about the Knob Creek… hmmmmm. Thank you guys.
Oooh, I hadn't heard the Flight Fight music for a while. Love these videos. Great flight and I will have to try Rittenhouse now. Huge fan of Pikesville but never bought the baby brother. Cheers Chad and Sara.
These are all good mixers. I find the 100 proof point perfect for many mixed drinks, old fashions and Manhattans in particular. I save the high proof bottles for drinking neat. Not surprised Rittenhouse came out on top, it's really good value. Still think you should have had the Old Overholt BiB with the red cap instead of Knob Creek. The "new" Old Overholt BiB is non-chill filtered and a step up from the previous release. The Old Overholt 114 is even better.
Greetings from Finland! I just now found your channel and this was my first episode. I liked it! I'm glad you enjoyed Rittenhouse, since it's the only rye I have at the moment 🙂 You guys do cocktails on your channel? I'll have to go see I guess.
KC Rye is a bit more here in NJ, more like $35. The everyday one is just OK, the real KC Rye is a SiB store pick. That's even more $$ but SO worth it and less money than Pikesville. OF Rye is $32 and I'd take KC or Rittenhouse over it any day. I'll take Old Overholt over it and WT 101 too. I think you missed out by not throwing that in as well as maybe Bulleit Rye. (under $30 and found everywhere)
And I think it’s the cheapest of the other three. Excellent value and great for mixing. By itself without ice; It’s a little too syrupy sweet, bet it would be good over pancakes.
Here is my suggestion: Take 4 similar whiskeys and mix them up so you may or may not have them in the same order. And by using only talking about what your tasting try to match up all 4.
I mean, we can kinda do already in some flights where we're more familiar with the whiskeys, but we try not to so we don't influence our decisions. We did do that idea in this video, though: ruclips.net/video/uzyaSTEe8XQ/видео.html
I've only had a handful of ryes, so I'm no expert, but I thought Rittenhouse was awful. Off the nose I got beef gravy and it just threw me off after that. I never understood when Chad said "savory " but I get it now, only not in a good way. OF rye and sazerac were much more enjoyable for me.
Deep dish isn't pizza. In the words of Jon Steward, deep dish is "...tomato soup in a bread bowl. ... an aboveground marinara swimming pool for rats!" Also, Rittenhouse 4 Life
*Rye making a long overdue comeback is something we can all celebrate at any price point
Working for a liquor distributor as a sales rep I love watching you guys talk about these products. Reminds me of why I love my job. I sell 3 of the 4 ryes. Love me some Rittenhouse any day of the week.
Cheers to Kyle
Oh I totally agree what a long ride just like a beautiful woman holds you long and grabs your heart and smiles rittenhouse rye just stays
Love all your content, but this sh*t right here is the absolute best. The flight fights, especially the themed ones, absolutely rock.
Thanks!

WT 101 Rye is finally being sold in VA for $25 for a 750!
@@danielturner8798 same price in Philly

This order is crazy, OF 100 would easily win for me
Thanks for the Rye focus lately. I have just begun to dip my toe lately, after mostly being a Bourbon drinker, and only tried a couple.this helps.
I'm hoping to explore rye more in 2021 and with my kind of budget...this is perfect right now. Thanks guys!
Thank you for another wonderful video. As always, entertaining and educational. I’ll be starting my rye journey with Knob Creek and Rittenhouse, which is fitting as I know I really like both Knob Creek 9 bourbon and the general Heaven Hill bourbon flavor profile.
Results start at 16:15 - I'm with Chad, I don't care at all for Old Forester rye. My go-to "affordable" rye is Bulleit.
Second that. Bulleit Rye is my preference for Manhattan’s.
Thanks, now Peaches song is stuck in my head. Another sad note my wife had never heard that song. CHEERS!!
Just an idea: Y’all should try a blending competition video where you each have access to like 2-5 bourbons that maybe aren’t great and you’re trying to get rid of? Old Forrester is really good. It is 25% malt (as in scotch). which may be why I like it.
This "Blind Flight" is a really nice and fitting highlight of your Januarye. Great episode! Cheers, Andy
Just got the Rittenhouse Rye !!! Very delicious!!! Thanks for the recommendation!!
That ryes working 😂 you 2 are like a mixed drink Yang Yang and do a terrific balancing act❤️
Correction Yeng Yang 🧐
Big Wild Turkey fan here, especially the 101 Bourbon and Rarebreed, I was a bit iffy on the WT101 Rye (neat), BUT it is one of my very favourites for making bourbon/rye recipe cocktails. So...I'm with you guys!

That Wild Turkey 101 rye is around $22 in Michigan. Been buying it up when I find it. I think it's slightly better than the standard 101.
We just got the 750s of WT101 in the Chicago area relatively recently, for $21.99. For several years we've only had the liter bottles for $44.99 so I always passed on it. I totally agree I can’t as yet find old forester rye I like wt 101 much be than any rye so far
Would love a "baby brother" blind tasting series. Like OGD vs Basil Hayden etc
I found a bottle that had the words wild turkey and rye and got excited because iv been looking for the WT 101 rye. Went home poured a bit and discovered its the 81. Never occurred to me it wasn't the 101 until that point. Killin me smalls.
Made the same mistake. Huge let down... Still haven't found a bottle of the 101 in my area, so I just keep buying the Old Forester, which I like.
I almost didn't click like... because at the time, you had exactly 101 likes.
"There's no wrong answers in whiskey." Wise words.
My favorite 100 proof Rye is the James E Pepper 1776
I see ryes and It's Bourbon Night, I click!
Rittenhouse Rye...I love that stuff. Glad you do too.
I'm actually surprised with the Rittenhouse coming out on top. Would've been interesting to have included an MGP rye in the flight fight. Always a pleasure to watch your channel. Cheers from Canada🥃🇨🇦
It’s good have you had it?
WT 101 rye is delicious. Very reasonably priced and great taste
Nice shootout! I only kinda missed Bulleit Rye in it. ;)
👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾 loved it!! Making my fridays and sunday nights better. But thanks to Chad with the Mandy Moore "Candy" reference I now have that song stuck in my head!!!🤯
I’m missing you like Candy yeah yeah 🎼
WT 101 and WT 101 rye are both $24.99 in Philly. Ya can’t beat that.
How about 1.75L of WT 101 for $29.99 + tax in Feb 2024. Got a cpl cases.
The Wild Turkey 101 Rye is my go-to, usually seeing it for $24 in NC.
The only Rye I have tried, drinking it tonight is the Old Forester, I like it
Rittenhouse Rye is absolutely the winner. No argument whatsoever. It’s great neat. It’s great in a cocktail. Nothing wrong with the other offerings (although I would chose Wild Turkey Rye as #2 in this group).
arriving late as I am a new to the channel. Love the video and the PUSA Peaches reference lol.
Love all these. Staples for whiskey drinkers. Great flight
Got some 101 rye yesterday for $21. I'm happy 🥃
The best rye for you money is high west d rye its good for coctail and neat
Just cracked my first bottle of Rittenhouse and man its good stuff
Rittenhouse Rye is one of my favorite whiskeys now.
Been debating a Rittenhouse for months, not sure why I haven’t pulled the trigger yet because it’s $26. But this settled it.
Oooh, I hadn't heard the Flight Fight music for a while. Love these videos. Great flight and I will have to try Rittenhouse now. Huge fan of Pikesville but never bought the baby brother. Cheers Chad and Sara.
I’m drinking the KC at the moment. Can’t go wrong with this one at only 35 bucks. Not too sweet, like some say it is, but very enjoyable
If Knob Rye looses im not sure what I will do with myself...
Edit: Guess I'll be picking up another bottle of Rittenhouse...
These are all good mixers. I find the 100 proof point perfect for many mixed drinks, old fashions and Manhattans in particular. I save the high proof bottles for drinking neat. That's the problem I have with 101 rye peppermint taste takes over and over powers it...
I'm sold. Next bottle, Rittenhouse Rye
Greetings from Finland! I just now found your channel and this was my first episode. I liked it! I'm glad you enjoyed Rittenhouse, since it's the only rye I have at the moment 🙂 You guys do cocktails on your channel? I'll have to go see I guess.
Love it guys!!! Keep it up!
Great Video As I Sip OFR...Lol..Keep More Video's Coming...Cheers..
Local liquor store only had the Rittenhouse in stock (WA state). Cheers! If I had my little way, I'd eat peaches everyday!
I’m finally subscribing because of the cobra caí references.
Rittenhouse has been a standard here, best black Manhattan ever,
I'm always a little smarter for hanging out with you guys 😉
How much do you two actually drink everyday? Do you switch to water when your livers start hurting?
Ever tried old overholdt BIB? $19.99 killer bottle
We’ll be doing all the Old Overholts on this Sunday’s Live Stream!
It's solid, basically have to flip a coin to pick between it and Rittenhouse BIB
So after the video of the tasting do you drink the rest?
Darn It! Now I have to buy some ***(Winner Rye)***! (No spoilers here). Is there more room on my magical bourbon rack??!
Great video !
Rittenhouse Rye is so good. I’ve never had the WT 101 Rye. The other 2 are good, but do not compare to the Rittenhouse.
I definitely drink Rittenhouse just by itself.
Not guilty!
Curious about that shirt. If you google American native spirit, it don’t come up with bourbon. Is that shirt a statement?
I don’t ryes that have the dill note everything else I’m good with.
love the flight videos.. Never been a fan of Rittenhouse but looks like I need to do this flight. because I really enjoy the other 3.
Watching now. I’m calling Turkey for the win. Where’s the Bulleit? You guys need to switch sides. I need Chad on my left (your right.)
Rittenhouse is by far the best. Its taste like a much more expensive product.
And I think it’s the cheapest of the other three. Excellent value and great for mixing. By itself without ice; It’s a little too syrupy sweet, bet it would be good over pancakes.
Check out Lot 40 from Canada.
Will you/have you done this recently for Bourbon?
We do Flight Fights all the time!
Sarah is genius
Enjoy!
"I don't like thin crust" How about a thin crust chicken/bacon/artichoke. Damn, I'm hungry!
Rittenhouse 💯🥃
my fav value rye iz Ezra Brooks Rye for 17 $ and 90 proof but keep it on the down low :)
Bulleit Rye 95
Why are sara standing on the wrong side?😰
No, Chad is in the wrong side:))
Bulleit Rye best in our opinion over here
Bruce the performance artist from Family Guy reference?
Yeah, it comes out as an impression from time to time without me even really knowing it.
@@ItsBourbonNight it's also fun to say. Cheers
WHISKEY CHEERS
A useful video for people getting into Rye. My order would be OF, KC, WT, then Rittenhouse. OF > KC mainly for the price.
Here is my suggestion: Take 4 similar whiskeys and mix them up so you may or may not have them in the same order. And by using only talking about what your tasting try to match up all 4.

WhistlePig Boss Hog is a great value rye
The best value EVER!
Great video - looks like we have to pick up a bottle of Rittenhouse as we skipped over it to buy Pikesville!
You made the right choice.
Clowns to the left of me, jokers to the right, here I am...stuck in the middle with you
Like to see a high rye flight. 90-100%
DRINK ALL THE RYE

New York is thin crust, yo.
Well, you said to subscribe, so I did 🙂
I love Sara.
