these have a weird starting procedure... they are supposed to bump up to 4k and stay that way for 2 minutes.

@Iroquois14 I actually agree with the above comment. I have a 07 model and I start it every time with a bit of twist of throttle and it starts up quite fine .. otherwise it might become a pain to get it going.

I wish you would have did a video on what motivated you to join the army. I'm very curious about that.

a GS500 should never be that hard to start. Try giving it a tiny bit of throttle while cranking and it'll fire right up.

@dodgerider26 Yea carbed bikes are a bitch in the cold. I sold her about a week ago, so unfortunately I won't be able to ride with you guys for a long time. I'm just glad to get that thing off my chest, I owed a little bit of money on it and it needed a lot of things.

Well, your opinion is respected but your judgment is not. Bring your bike to Canada and start it in a January morning at 8 am and then we talk. Sometimes a small twist of the throttle is enough to give a bit of boost to the choke. There's also the PRIME thing but I'm a forgetful person and I'm always worried that I might forget to put it back so I try to stay away from it.

U still selling this? And if u twist the handle back at the same time as u push start it will start right up. U pushed the starter then waited for it to start before twisting the throttle.

@norge696 I think he's selling it now because he's going into the military.

So how do you get over the whole carbureted motorcycle issue in the cold? Open the choke and start her up that way? I've never owned a bike before and I was looking at getting the GS500F to start with before moving on to the 600cc supersports.

Why should i come to Canada on a January morning. I just walked out and choked mine a little on a 22 temp morning in my garage just the other day and fired right up on first try. Its a carb bike and that is why it as a choke. Its no different then old old trucks with the pull out choke inside the truck. Even the builder clearly stats to start them in this manner. The prime is only if you had the fuel off/run out and no fuel in carb bowls, as nothing to do with starting bike otherwise.

These bikes have a CHOKE for a reason, why would you even be talking about the throttle. clueless people will always be clueless people..
