I appreciate the sound effect. The sounds you made to illustrate the battery dying is exactly the noise mine makes
Yeah bro same 😂
Just replaced the battery and its brand newwww lets goo
For real, making sounds is great. No joke
Thank you so much for explaining everything! I was finally able to get my bike started after a day of not being able to crank it. You rock!!
SRKCycles, I'm posting this just to say thank you. I'm a novice rider, and could not figure out why my bike wouldn't start; however, I searched and found your video. You taught me to hold the clutch and lift the kick stand to start my bike. After having the bike for three days, I finally got to fire up. Bro, you are awesome!!! God Bless.
Exactly what happened to me.
I wish I could bring my f****** bike in the house!
@@AFY-nd5nr kik e
Its stinks it up alot.
@Ryan Phelps lol
That’s their shop
Helps if its efi.less gas smell
Youre battery isnt nessessarily dead if nothing comes on when you got to start it. It could be your main fuse also.
Yep had the exact thing happen to me a month ago
And also if your solenoid starter isn't grounded, everything does come on, but you wont get nothing..your solenoid has to be grounded.
Aaron Conrad Vleck so bike starter switch does not turn or click what so ever. I have to pop the side case off on right side and pop the screwdriver in to spark then booom it starts up ... what’s do you think is wrong/to fix
@@aaronconradvleck786 what do you mean by grounded brother my r6 is giving me hell rn i just changed stator rectifier batter and fuel pump and starter selenoid
no lights nothing ?? is completly dead
Its always the guys who have the motorcycle in their house that know what tf they are talking about lol
🤣
Thanks man. My guy started his bike because of this video and he is out riding! Thanks again for the helpful info. It wasnt easy for him to admit this video helped him to resolve the problem. It was the clutch information towards the end of the video that was the problem keeping the bike from starting. He forgot to check that. Have a good day.
😀. Because of your video I just realized that my Harley never had a problem with the switch. It was placed on 1st gear and that’s why it wouldn’t start. 🤦🏽♂️. Thank you.
🤣🤣🤣
😅 no way
Im just going to dislike this without going into detail.. just as much detail as this video goes into
Yo I want to say that I appreciate you breaking down the terms and definition as well as those 3 examples. Thanks to you, all I had to do is recharge my battery. I did it myself and saved some good money!
About 5 minutes in a free editing program would do wonders for this vid. Pretty good still though
What happens if you've been riding the bike for over an hour then it loses power then dies. Battery is dead. Maybe the stator or voltage regulator? How do I know?
Dang you saved my life! Second scenario, just like you described. New battery and everything is back to normal. Thanks!
Thanks for the advice, I wanted to get stranded anyway
I appreciate this video. I’m new into motorcycles and had a starting problem. This helped me fix the problem.
I have a v star 250 and the other day it took me like 5 minutes of the bike not starting. Turns out it was on 1st gear with the kick stand down :D
Andrew Gabriel lol, new rider here, and did that same thing, and it was a new bike too. It drove me nuts that it wouldn't start. Lol
I dont have a motorcycle but my grandpaw owns one.
dillon that doesn't add anything to the convo
Dillon Noe Hahaha!
What kind of bike is this?
Yea I have like a beginners bike venom x22 125 and it wouldn’t even crank forgot that it has to be in neutral but since I dropped it sometimes it fucks up and stays on first when parked so thanks for the reminder
THANK YOU... CLUTCH SAFETY SWITCH... HOLD IT IN... FIRED UP!!!!
Could add the situation where the alternator is not charging the battery. Check alternator cable.
Alternator ??? O o
Very helpful. I've made all those mistakes in the heat of the moment. Usually got it started. Thank you.
Starter solenoid, stator/ alternator, regulator rectifier, ht lead or starter motor also worth checking even if dash lights up.
Ray Tokens THANK YOU!!!!! I KNOW TO CHECK MY CLUTCH AND KILL SWITCH AND KICKSTAND!!! IF I'M LOOKING UP ON EBAY THAT MY BIKE WON'T START AND THEN I'VE ALREADY WENT OVER THE BASICS!!! I'M LOOKING FOR SOLENOID BAD OR MY STARTER IS BAD HOW ABOUT THIS ONE... YOUR START SWITCH IS BAD.
The tip over sensor on my Harley routine is, turn on than off, turn back on, turn off the hazards, turn back off. Than attempt to start it again. I dropped mine in sand, boy was that fun, riding my Harley on the beach lmao.
Try CPR on the battery before, You decide that it kecked the bucket 😋
Great video, thank you! One think I had happen with my Road Glide is that the FOB battery was bad and while all the electrical systems would switch on, it would never turn over, and I saw the 'key' warning sign. Adding a new FOB battery resolved it for me
Yep, kick stand was down. Cheers 👍👍
call your grandma she'll explain it to you way faster.
ahhh thank you! I have a sportster as my daily and it would not start for the life of me this morning, I didn’t ride her for 3-4 days due to heavy rain and when I went to fire her up she would choke up and sound off this loud clicky noise, I started panicking and didn’t know what to do, turns out my bike has that thing you mentioned that you need to hold the clutch in to start, thanks, you made my week! 👍🏽
The starter-solenoid might also be bad which does not send electrical current to the starter. Therefore, the bike will not start.
My bike does exactly that slow winding sound but not clicking. My light is still on so don't think battery is the problem though? And also - even if battery was dead, i should be able to kickstart it or run with it and kick it into gear, no? But that doesnt work either... Any other ideas?
Did you ever solve this?
@@funkymonkey7202 It was the battery - though more than that it was the "joys of modern engineering". Really didn't make much sense but i realized at some point that the connection on the battery was really touchy. Well, something like that - my guess was that some cable somewhere in there was made out of some crappy Chinese metal that simply didn't conduct electricity very well, cause i had very random on-and-off issues with that. (it's a non-scientific explanation but the only one that made sense to my brain, it was weird, really). Over time i guess that worn out the battery. Actually the battery itself wasn't bad - it still held power fine, but just swapping it for a new one nonetheless immediately helped. Though still, i always had some odd non-sensical issues, hence i really think there must've been some chinesium metal in there somewhere... Still the bike took me halfway around the globe, i had my fun :)
@@EtheriumSky oh I was going to clean my carb but it could be battery
@@EtheriumSky So I can’t just try to jumpstart it I have to fully replace the battery?
@@funkymonkey7202 You can try jumpstarting/charging the battery - but for me that was a one-time solution. The next day i had the same issue. And it was perplexing - cause I was sure that kicking the bike into gear while going downhill or just kickstarting it should do the trick even without the battery (what's the point of the kickstart otherwise...) but on that bike at least the kickstarter was useless if battery had an issue. Again - i think it was just some shitty chinese components somewhere in the bike that caused the problems - even several mechanics i asked about it just scratched their heads, cause everything seemed like it should all work but well... it didn't.
So yeah, i don't know if you have the same issue or not, but especially if it's a cheaper/newer bike, like mine was, if there's a chance of some cheap/chinese electric components inside - I'd say it might be some "illogical" problem like that. Changing the battery would be a start, to see if that solves anything for you.
And even before that - try just disconnecting the battery, cleaning the connectors and re-connecting it. Strangely even that much helped when i had that problem first few times. There was no rust or anything on my connectors but again - i think something somewhere in the electric connections wasn't conducting electricity very well, and sometimes just messing with it for a moment made it "fix" itself, even if just temporarily...
What if you turn the key on but you don't hear that prime whine before you press the start button
You still didn’t cover why it wouldn’t start if it turns over normally but won’t fire up.
Can anyone tell me which make and model this bike is? Thanks.
My bike worked fine one day and the mext day i try to start it, i turn the key, everything is dead, no light no display, does not start, checked the Battery, Charged it and tried to start it again, nothing, but then i pushstarted it and then it worked, but when i turn it off i have to push start again
Get out of work and my bike cranks but doesn’t turn over. After about 10 min of messing it it. I was able to start it with the throttle held down. It would stall with the choke off. So I had to give it throttle the whole time for it to stay on and rode it 20 miles home. I get home and start looking for what’s wrong. I get it barely started and start checking the bike out. I look at the petcock and it’s off…
Thank you for the sound advice.
Honda Varadero XL 125cc - Turned key and dials and lights in dash on. Nothing though when key turned to start engine and battery 12.45amp before starting. After 2 mins it was 11.35 amp so presume battery needs replacing so ordered new one. I had been starting it up letting it run and not going anywhere but learnt wrong thing to do so might have used up the battery life.
Does this apply on Honda Wave 100?
What about when the bike cranks like normal but won’t fire up. And if it does, it sounds like it’s bogged down and throttle has no affect
If your Bike won’t start it’s cause you need to tell it you love ❤️ it and cuss it until it starts. If that doesn’t work kick it a few times and bam 💥 she will start. Just like my wife.💯💯💯💯💯💯
Hi, my bike just refuses to start after I changed the blinkers on it … checked all the fuses , switches , I even tried to bridge the starter relay with a screwdriver and then it was cranking but wont fire up. Any ideas ? Thanks
If your battery is low enouhh to run accesories but not crank just roll down a hill and drop the clutch once your at like 10 mph and she will start if your bike is carburated you can do this if its fully dead
1:25 me literally
Still figuring it out. Either battery, Starter Relay or worse case the starter itself...
Got a brand new battery still no starter. No I am on the relay.
I'm going to look through the comments to see if it was mentioned but you missed it, what if all those things are true you pull in the clutch you hit the start button and nothing happens and you have to start running again and again and again and then it starts, what causes that? My guess is the starter
Thanks man, battery died 50k's from home out in the bush.
Thank God I could roll start it.
2004 Kawasaki KLR 650.
Still none of those sensors were checked
Do you have a part 2? My bike was running then went to start next time and nothing. Lights and gauges work bike not turning over. It will normally start in any gear without clutch engaged and kickstand down. Only way it starts is pushing and popping clutch. I cleaned the contacts on the ignition and kill switch and checked fuses
Alternate title: You bought your first ever bike today and now it won't start?
see i knew the batery was dead, just making sure, before i try and start it up again...THANKS MAN!
Yes the starter fuse is what it could be.
So I just bought a shadow 06 600cc. Owner was starting it no problem. I brought it home rode it a little bit but then I thought the battery was dead so I bought a new one and now when I try and put the key in the lights come on but no noises when I put the engine button on and when I try to STSRT it up there’s a single click and the lights completely dim there’s a single click sounding like it’s from either starter or fuse
I do and check everything correctly and it’s all perfect but when I press the start up button it just cranks but never turns on
There's four and a half minutes I won't get back.
My bike is turning over, but its not firing it up, what's the problem?
My bike can't start when it's it gear😢😢 ... Why and what's the problem
My f4i wont fire u0p.. it was riding fine to work then boom it wont start. Nothing to killswitch or relay
Sean, this exactly what is going on with me. But I checked my battery with a voltmeter and it said 12 volts. Would I be getting a reading even with a dead battery???
Nevermind, I should have just watched the whole video. You answered my question. 🤣🤣🤣
Thanks you for getting right to the point
I turn the key and absolutely nothing. It used to make a noise. I checked the voltage and it is 9v is this dead battery?
What if you hear the starter spinning but its not turning motor or firing?
Nice bike! Great video, thank you ;)
Three main cases. Battery. Fuel or spark.
I got the number 2 situation, bump start it and its good, switch it off and won't start again. I think I need my battery replaced.
Hey Sean I live watching your videos you show me alot was having problems with bike not starting ...ended up being crossed wire in switch
I do have the second one is possible because is cold and is been sitting for a month?
Replaced it with new battery & still doesn't work (2020 r1).
Ive got my bike in neutral, kickstand up, battery has 13v, pull in clutch, push start button nothing happens
DSD - Downshift Dave have you checked the fuses? Also try jumping the solenoid.
You have done an excellent job
Why do i have to gas my new 125cc motorcycle for it to start??
KILL SWITCH!!!! Thank you.
Parked in front of the Italian Ice place came back to the bike tried to start it up and...nothing. Brand new Kawasaki I'm looking all over for leaks or whatever while my fam's ice is melting it was the damn kill switch. I felt like such an idiot.
I was about to call a tow!
Vid saved me some embarrassment just wanted to say thanks 🙏
My bike turn on, killswitch on but went i press start button if didt do anything..
I have an 88 Honda Shadow vt800c. I dropped it on its left side for maybe 30 seconds till I could pick it back up. It was leaking a lot of gas during this time. Picked it back up but it now won't start. All the electrical work is fine. I have tried to start it several times but nothing fires. It turns over and there are puffs of air coming out the exhaust but it won't fire. It sounds the same as when it normally starts. I've hooked it up to my trickle charger and have tried to start it several times now. I know most carb bikes leak fuel when in their left side and that I likely flooded the motor. Im not sure how to fix that though. I've let it sit overnight and tried to start it again this morning but nothing happened other than what I've said. Also I thought it might just be out of gas but I refilled the tank and still nothing.
Have you tried bleeding the carburetor? I have a Chinese dirt bike. Whenever I drop it, it won't start. Fuel, I'm told has flooded an area in the carburetor. There is a screw on the side of the carb. Once you open this, if this is the problem, petrol will come out of an overflow nozzle on the side of the carb. This slows after about 5 seconds. Tighten the flat head screw again and it usually lets the bike start. I was shown this by a Chinese farmer. Handy trick
Bike ran great parked it now i turn the key on hit the start button and theres zero anything. All lights still come on checked battery it has 100% charge none of the switches are tripped hasnt fallen over
i started my bike, turned it off a minute later. tried to start it again and it wouldnt turn over
4 minutes and 33 seconds of nap time I will never get back!!!
I brought a battle 3 months ago, I dropped it and haven’t ride it for a month I came out today to start it and nothing is happening no lights or noises, I used a battery booster that didn’t work and I used my car it still didn’t turn. What could that be.
Thank you! Very helpful! Mine is the 2nd example x.x
PRESSING STARTER BUTTON THE FUEL PUMP MAKES A BUMPING SOUND AT THE FUEL PUMP AND WONT TURNOVER, WHAT IS THE PROBLEM ON A 1995 HONDA SHADOW VT1100 SPIRIT
Bike won't come on, relay clicks even though bike won't power up and switch is off.

My starter spins but won’t turn over. Anyone know what’s wrong, I have full lights just no turn over with the starter.
What if the the lights come on but when I try to start it the lights dim and I don't hear a noise? I checked the battery and it's good, its not on killswitch, I held the clutch and had it on neutral.
Very, very, helpfull, saved me $$$ and time , and a headache, subscribed!
Motorcycle wont start the piston inside spinning I set it too neutral it wont start my battery great
You saved me a trip to the shop. My bike won’t start if it’s not in neutral. Thanks!

The tip over sensor on the CBR is behind the speedometer.
aimed at complete newbies . good to know
What is the problem when I switchthe bike on an push the button to start an make noses
Check for the *_Blinker Fluid_* ....
The first thing to do. 1. Don’t panic.
I can turn over and it on but onmy for a second before turning off. The other day i got to ride it around but again lights turn on, engine doesnt want to stay on. Sometimes its on then slowly dies out, throttle doesnt want to keep it going just dies
What if it’s laid up for over a year might be be buying one it cranks but won’t start would it be a fuel issue don’t want to buy a pig in the bag 👍and waste lot more to get it on the road
Dude I want my motorcycle in my living room
What if you rode in a rain storm, and the next day lights turn on but you go for the switch and nothing happens, no crank, no turn over, nothing.
Video summary: Check/replace your battery and review your starting procedure.
My bike has FI. Is my FI damaged?
I have a triumph 2016 bonneville t100 efi. I replaced the ignition switch which came with new keys with the ignition. My problem is when I go to start the bike, the lights on the dash light up and the fuel pump primes but the bike will not turn over. Not sure what the problem is because my battery and all the fuses are good.
